Wanted to love it here. Made an appointment for 6:00, got seated close to 7, told the hostess it was my daughters birthday and she either she didn’t tell the cook or he forgot, but we had to remind the waitress that it was her birthday and they brought out ice cream after the check. The only interactive part of our meal was the rice throwing. Maybe our chef had an off day but he was really just disappointing for a birthday celebration. The next guy that came to the other side of the table came in and said right away, are we celebrating anything special. Thought they all did that, I guess not. Scallops were TINY…no where near what we have had at numerous other hibachi restaurants.

February 6, 2026, Freddie and our server (I didn’t catch her name) both provided a truly memorable experience for my wife, our daughter and our two young grandsons (one with special needs). We are all educators so were completely enthralled how well both these caring staff members provided entertaining and fast service, getting delicious food and a great show before the little ones could get restless. They don’t often get the chance to get out to a nice restaurant and the exceptional service and huge portions well prepared convinced us to try it more often. Thank you all for a terrific experience.

Loved their food in the past. Ordered scallop hibachi $36 plus tax. Got 10 small (1/2 to maybe 3/4 inch) scallops and two tiny dry and chewy (and not in a good way) shrimp. The rest of the food was okay. WAAAYYYYY overpriced for the amount and quality of the protein.

I think this place has the fastest service along with high quality food. Always an enjoyment when I go and never leave feeling unsatisfied. The roll I ordered with the Salmon skin with scallions, it was a delight, along with ~Sushi for 2~ which also included miso soup and salad for two. Very good. Highly recommend. Good place for this restaurant, and after eating you can walk the strip and go into stores and shop.

The Food here at the plum garden is GREAT!!! The hibachi is where it is at!!…. I got the the filet mignon with extra rice and they give you huge portions!! Cooked to perfection!!.. the only downside is we had reservations and still had to wait almost a half hour to be seated ..which was a bummer but other then that!! It is my favorite hibachi spot in Rochester!!!

Plum Garden provided the perfect setting for a friend’s birthday celebration. Freddy’s entertaining flair added a lively and enjoyable experience. The filet and scallops were absolutely delicious and packed with flavor- but that could be the butter, haha. The overall experience, from the ambiance to the food, was fantastic. Highly recommend Plum Garden for a special occasion or a simple dining experience!

Between drinks and dinner my family spent close to $1,000 to have dinner there between one main check and several checks for drinks. There were 18 of us. I dropped off a cheesecake for my dad’s birthday. The server brought it out in the original bag and box. She handed me a few candles, a lighter, and some paper plates. She knew it was a surprise. This was a $75 cheesecake. I had to take the cheesecake out of the box and put the candles in…right in front of him. This is not acceptable. We had reservations. Plus I told the owner. They knew! It’s not our fault his birthday is valentines day.
The soup and salad were terrible. The actual hibachi was good.
There was no warmth. No friendliness.
The bathrooms were atrocious. Our server never told my dad happy birthday.Sorry, but that is part of the experience of restaurant; friendly servers. Apparently it is an issue to ask for kids cups with lids….we had to ask several times. Where was the judgment? I mean a good server should see a three year old needs a kids cup.That was just laziness.
What kills me is servers just think they are owed a tip regardless. The service was TERRIBLE . Tips are based on good service unless something happens put of their control. . No hi. No my name is…no good night. No thank you for coming in.

We came to Plum Garden on a Saturday night after trying to eat at another local sushi restaurant where there wait was an hour. We beat the rush at Plum Garden and was seated right away on the regular menu side of the restaurant. Our hostess was friendly and pleasant however our waitress seemed bothered to be at work. She did answer our questions about the menu and provided us our drinks in a timely fashion but when our meal came she never did come back to see if everything was to our satisfaction.
We ordered a sushi platter with tempura for two. It was ample food but did seem on the pricier side. The soup and salad was okay. When we received our bill I was a bit surprised the ice tea my husband ordered was $3.95 and was never asked for a refill.
We both had to use the restaurant during our visit and both had the same opinion. The bathrooms were a mess and needed attention! Paper towels and toilet paper were on the floor and in the woman’s room there was no soap. I was shocked walking from the dining side of the restaurant through the hibachi area to the bathrooms. The restaurant was A MESS! There was so much food and debris on the floor. It was a busy Saturday evening but I have been to plenty of restaurants on a Saturday night and have never seen one so unkept. It truly made me wonder what the kitchen looked like if the restaurant that the customers see was disgusting.
Bottom line, the food was decent but if you are looking for a nice restaurant that’s clean and updated I’d might try a different place.

I forgot to take a picture of my sushi but, everything was amazing. Except for the fact that the waitress kept bumping and spilling my drink, my martini was very strong!

Great food! Unfortunately I think they were under staffed at the time we were there, so service was a little slow. Great place for celebrating birthdays and an entertaining night out for the kids
