I can’t wait to come back here again. The staff was super friendly, and went out of their way to accommodate our requests. The food was delicious. My son swears that was one of the best burgers he’s ever had. Great food, good prices, wonderful service.

Some of the absolute worst pancakes I’ve ever had. I couldn’t even believe they had the audacity to send the pancakes out burnt black. Besides that, even the parts not burnt tasted like rainwater. I felt sick after eating it.

I would never return.

I would definitely recommend stopping in if you’re going through Thomsonville! Nice open country atmosphere with a good burger and fries! Good service and a clean, nicely decorated restaurant. About $15 for a fried egg burger, fries, and iced tea.

I have been driving through town for a couple weeks and decided to stop and try it on 6/19. Walked in there was 1 table. Walked to the counter, there were 3 staff members that I could see, a young guy, a blonde girl and a brunette girl. The guy and blonde girl looked at me and walked to the back without saying a word. The brunette was helping the table, finished helping them started walking towards me. She never acknowledged me at all, the phone started ringing and she answered it and began taking an order. Never looked up and said be right with you, didn’t ask the caller to hold please and greet me, nothing. All while the girl in the back looked through the service window bored. So I left.

A local restaurant, Deb’s, in Thompsonville, IL. BLT with fried okra was very good, my server was also very good. I’ve eaten here several times & it’s been a treat each time. Comfort food prepared quickly, good atmosphere, reasonable prices, what more could you ask for…

Really wanted this friendly, hometown place to be good, but it was not. All the food was wildly oversalted, rendering it nearly inedible. The gravy was literally beef “Jell-o” as it was not heated through and surely added as an afterthought (or initially forgotten). The portion size of the hamburger steak special was minuscule, which was probably a godsend as it had no flavor of fresh ground meat and was a salt lick. Because it was Friday, my Pa had the fish dinner. There was no difference in the texture of the catfish versus the breading, i.e., dry and crunchy, overcooked and too salty. Must have been “Sahara” fish? The potato salad was so under-dressed, my dad added some tartar sauce to make it palatable. The onion rings were quite good, but slightly overdone. The service got off to a rocky start as the otherwise pleasant waitress, proved unknowledgeable as to the menu. At first we thought it might have been because it was slightly before 8 p.m., but, nope, the place closes at 9 p.m. on Friday’s. Perhaps is was due to a VERY inexperienced hand in the kitchen. Prices were fair and in the middle of the range for similar places in rural Southern Illinois, but considering the quality the value proposition just wasn’t there. I never get dessert myself, but on a lark ordered a fried pie. They were represented as miniature versions of Ozark-style fried pies from OK. You could tell that it would have been really good if properly cooked, but Deb’s are cooked from frozen (the originals are cooked from fresh) and areas of the filling were still icy (and unthickened) while the crust was too dark and close to charred in spots.
In the end, money is money and you work hard for yours. You can better spend it elsewhere.
