Great place for some authentic and delicious Chinese cuisine. They serve very large portions perfect for sharing. We ordered the Black Pepper Beef, Sizzling Plate Eggplant, Noodles with Brown Sauce, and Stir-fry Noodles with Chicken.

I love that it’s casual, and food is so good, fast and hot. And it’s not a crowded as the Olive location. Highly recommended. It is my favorite Chinese eatery!
You can’t go wrong with anything that you order but I love their pork belly noodles, sizzling platter of eggplants or tofu, spicy crispy chicken or sweet and sour fish… but really, everything is great.
I normally get one familiar dish that I love, plus a new dish I’ve never had before. Two entrees and share with two people, you still have leftover for another meal. Just phenomenal place for lunch AND dinner.
Highly recommended.

It was difficult to get a reservation at their restaurant in University City. I was happy they opened another location in Chesterfield. I was able to get a dinner reservation on a weekday. The restaurant was clean and had a nice decor. The staff were friendly and courteous. We ordered Mala Stir Fry and Fish Fillet Stir Fry with Wine Sauce. The fish filled was delicious and tasteful but the mala dish was too oily and salty.

Good food. Service was good.
I like this location better than the Olive U-City location because it’s more spacious. Food came out at a timely manner. MASSIVE portions and for the price, you can’t beat it. My favs would have to be the pork belly noodle soup, pork rib noodle soup, hongshao pork ribs, and salt & pepper shrimps!!.

I have frequented this restaurant on numerous occasions, and I must say that its spaciousness sets it apart from other branches. The larger location provides a more comfortable dining experience, which I truly appreciate. Consistently, the food maintains its excellent quality, and every visit is a delightful culinary experience with delicious and flavorful dishes.
One aspect I particularly enjoy is the prompt and efficient service. Not only is the waitstaff attentive and courteous, but the food is also prepared and served in a timely manner, ensuring that my dining companions and I never have to wait long to indulge in our meals. Furthermore, the portion sizes are generous and satisfying, while the prices remain reasonable, making this restaurant an exceptional value.

The place appeared to be sleek and modern, however the bathroom was less than desirable- out of paper towels, water spills. The service was average. The food came out in a timely manner, but no one checked to see if I was actually enjoying my food. I ordered the cumin lamb with light spice. The entree was still a bit too spicy for me. I am giving the food the full 5 stars because it’s not their problem that I can’t handle that much spice. It was those tiny red chili peppers. Maybe next time I will order very light spice, or no spice at all. I’m just saying that if you are spice intolerant, be careful!

While a but cramped for large parties, it’s great for dining groups from 1 to 10 people, recommend reservations if party of 5 or more.
Overall experience is very professional and pleasant. Come with appetite or just plan on dining family style, since that is the expectation. If you want to avoid the doggie bags, let about 3/5 of your party order and split the bill. But from personal experience the take home food is just as good the next couple of days. Having sampled, else enjoyed, about 8-10 dishes on the menu, they were all delicious, but of course my taste preference leans more towards some than others. Hope to be back soon to try something new and revisit those items I already love.

In my opinion this is the best Chinese food in the STL area. Try the Sweet and Sour Pork, it’s amazing. The Pepper Beef is a close second. Portions are huge, so we always get a second meal.

Really good food! Huge portions to share or take as leftovers. I had the Chinese sizzling tofu and a side of bok choy. Super flavorful and cooked well! My friend got the shrimp fried rice and pork skins (I think). She enjoyed them both too
The service is okay, not rude but also not super attentive or warm. The atmosphere is kinda bland but it didn’t take away from the experience. Just a bunch of tables in a big room ♀️
I’ll definitely be back!

Upon arrival you’ll find Cate Zone unassumingly located next to a Dierbergs, don’t let the location fool you, Cate Zone is not one of your standard Chinese takeouts, and offers significantly higher quality Chinese cuisine than one might expect. The staff are friendly and swift to greet and seat. Compared to the U City location, the Chesterfield location has a much roomier dining room that makes their decor pop. I ordered sweet and sour pork, braised pork belly, Chengdu chicken, Kung Pao chicken. The sweet and sour pork had a nice thick and light crisped fried layer and a healthy coat of sweet and sour sauce that paired well with the pork, the braised pork belley was succulent, well seasoned, and almost melted in my mouth, the Chengdu chicken also had a light crisp to the fry and was well seasoned and had mala chili oil aroma of Sichuan pepper and red chili pepper, the Kung Pao chicken was a little sweet and lighter on the mala than I would expect, but none the less far superior than many Kung Pao chicken dishes you’ll find in the area. I also ordered a Mapo Tofu to go, which made for a nice late night mala delight. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with anything you try at Cate Zone.
