Nice little restaurant right on the golf course! Big windows, plenty of seating, full bar, and good menu. We went for breakfast and both dishes were very good. Going to go back and try their lunch and or dinner menu. Food came out fast and prices were reasonable.

Golf course restaurants run the gamut from casual to luxury. This one was casual. The clients were local families on a Saturday night, always a good sign. The food was good, not great. The staff was amazingly polite and friendly, but it did take a bit longer than expected to get our food. All in all for a casual affordable place in Hilo, this is a good choice

I recently visited this hotel with my family, and honestly, the experience was amazing. The quality of the food was excellent, and the taste was outstanding. We tried several items including burgers and sandwiches, and every dish was fresh, delicious, and nicely presented.

What I liked the most was that everyone in my family was very satisfied with the food. The environment was clean, comfortable, and perfect for dining with family.

For anyone looking for high-quality food with great taste, this hotel is definitely a great choice. I would love to visit again in the future.

Loved eating by the golf course. Wished we had time and money to go a round. The food was very good. We purchased teriyaki chicken, a burger and street tacos. My favorite part of the meal were the fries! But there was such a limited amount provided. Disappointing. The tacos did not have a lot of flavor, but were good enough. The chicken had more fatty pieces than necessary, but the flavor was really nice. The burger was good.

My wife and I visited Fairway Grill around 8:30 on a Saturday morning, eager to try the eggs benedict. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, it took about 15 minutes for a waiter to take our order. After another 20-minute wait, the waiter returned with bad news: a “computer mistake” meant our order had never reached the kitchen. Though we considered leaving, we were hungry, and he assured us the kitchen would prioritize our food immediately.

We continued waiting, but after my wife pointed out we’d been there for over an hour, we noticed a frustrating pattern: every customer who arrived after us had already received their meals. It became obvious they had pushed our order to the back of the queue instead of rushing it. At that point, we decided to leave. As we were walking out and in the parking lot, the waiter chased us down, saying the food was finally ready. I told him we weren’t coming back. Regrettably, after all that waiting, we still don’t know if the food is any good.

Clarification: This happened Saturday AM Jan 24th, not last week. Today, I came across a Google generated “How was Fairway Grill?” email I answered as above. Typically I would not respond unless something was exceptional. In this case the service was exceptionally bad.

Was looking for a spot to grab a quick bite as we went thru Hilo. The main road was closed and the side areas had no food stops so Quick Look at google maps and found the Fairway Grill at the golf course.
It was very quiet on Wednesday at 1:30p but service was friendly and fast. Had the brisket sandwich with fries and appetizer longanisa sausage. Both very tasty and a good value for the price.
Nice to watch the golfers and the dining area is huge. Good place for a relaxing lunch at a fair price

Went for a surprise birthday party. Lots of friendly staff. Food was awesome. We couldn’t tape things but their suggestion worked out perfectly.

We recently held a children’s birthday party here, and while the food and service were both very good, the experience was unfortunately overshadowed by major issues with the agreed-upon pricing and food serving.

Before the event, we clearly discussed that import beers should not be served as a part of the hosted bar and therefore should not be charged. To our surprise, imports were served anyway, and we were then billed for them. For a kids’ party, this felt unreasonable and extremely frustrating.

This experience left a very poor impression of the leadership and coordination at this venue. It’s disappointing because the staff working the event were kind, helpful, and represented true Aloha, but their efforts are overshadowed by poor communication and management decisions at the top.

Because of this, I strongly do not recommend hosting events here, and I personally will not recommend this establishment as a venue moving forward.

Be warned that since the food was paid by head… we ended up paying quite a bit for prime rib, shrimp scampi etc. When we wanted seconds since our families can eat… the food was packed away including 2 huge prime ribs which we couldn’t take. I asked if I could do a last call and they told me no since it was in the contract it could only be served 1-1/2 hrs into the event…. like really? $4,500+ spent on just food alone and the rest of my family couldn’t eat? Don’t get me wrong.. follow a policy but if people is hungry.. serve them for what we paid for. I read in another review that they packed plates for the service memebers to take home, I am a beleiver that we should one never waste food but there more than enough for seconds AND for the workers to take.

At the end of it all, everyone enjoyed there time… what stinks is all of this is going to be part of this memory.

I should have read the reviews about this place before money was spent. All I hope is this feedback improves their service and leadership.

Great spot for lunch. The food was delicious we had the yakitori boneless chicken and my husband had the brisket sandwich. Both dishes were delicious! The service was a little slow but they only had 2 ladies working and they were doing their best. Definitely be patient with them. Overall I would definitely recommend this place.

My negative experience at this place: I ordered a salad with a piece of pork, specifically asking the waiter for it to be less sweet since I don’t eat sugar, and brown rice separately. I received a plate of finely chopped, burnt bitter pork in a SWEET sauce, with only lettuce leaves instead of the assorted salad on the menu, and pearl barley porridge instead of brown rice. The prices was okay, but the food was tasteless. I don’t know how this place has such a high rating.
