I have been chasing the perfect Chicken and Waffles for a lone time. I think I just found it. This place, The Cafe Rue, is simply decorated but the wait for the Chicken and Waffles was well worth it. I had a little encounter with the owner about in the bone fried chicken versus deboned fried chicken. His fried chick is amazingly juicy. The skin is crispy, flavor full, and the waffle is very good too.
I think the portions is just right and the price for the food is for what you get. So, go and get the chicken and waffles try it and I do believe you will enjoy it. It you want to be adventurous try the Red Velvet Chicken & Waffles. If you’re a French fry fiend they do have Truffle Fries.

I am definitely going to be a regular here…first, the fried Brussel sprouts are amazing (seriously, the honey glaze on them is yummy ) and portion size is nice. Second, the chicken is juicy and cooked perfect and the waffle is light and fluffy. Third, the ginger mint lemonade is DELICIOUS! The food is definitely made with love. The owner/chef is charming, hospitable and humble. The space is open and there’s even a literature stand with periodicals and books to give the environment a very laid back artsy bluesy type of feel. They have the right recipe for success and longevity. A must try for everyone!

Red velvet waffles and bacon maple ice cream, need I say more? Very good. Small place and menu but well worth it. Don’t go for the variety, go for the made to order plates! Great espresso in an area where anything except a Starbucks is hard to find.

So I walk in there because my 3 year old Lil girl had to use the restroom. She was dancing. I asked a tall black guy if she can use the restroom he said no. I said well it’s for my 3 year old he said well it’s company rules……so I’ve been eating there since they been opened and I always tried to support black owned businesses. So while we tryna find another restroom she pee on herself. So I will be taking this into further action…

My cousin and I arrived at 11:04am to a line that had already formed outside. The joint opens up at 11am, BTW, and there’s limited seating. I sat at the table for a couple minutes before getting a menu and we chilled out even longer waiting for someone to take our orders. While waiting we witnessed folks come in and leave unable to find seating. We also saw folks leave appearing to be frustrated from waiting. But we’re going to wait it out, damnit!
The chef/owner also triples as the wait staff, barista, bust boy. I think it was his wife that arrived later to assist with the operations. Hire some help!
After waiting 30 mins, someone asked if we wanted water. After waiting over an hour, someone finally took our orders and after that, the food came pretty quickly.
I’ll be honest; the food is slamming, but I hated waiting over an hour to discover how good the food is. The trick is to get here after people have been served. Never come when there’s a crowd, right as they open, or when the tables don’t have food on them, because you’ll be waiting.
Not sure if I’ll be returning until I’ve seen a Help Wanted sign in the window which we at least indicate that they hired some help.

My wife and I have been going since it opened. I can say that we pop in every chance we get food is AHMAZZZING! I highly recommend the shrimp and grits and chicken and waffle in every variety.

Food was good but black guy woth the silver ring i guess the manager innitially asked me to come back in fifteen when i first enterd the store because he was sitting down eating his own food.. Was very turned off especially since it was about 6 in the afternoon and there were mo customers luckily the light skin guy who also was there said he would take my order… Dont think the manager is fit for customer service i almost disnt order when he asked me to come back.. Also very arrogant and not very friendly
