Lunch @CroqueMonsierMlb for croque monsier. A one superwoman show who provides friendly service, prepares your meal, drinks, serves, and everything in between. Off Flinders Lane grab a seat outside in the warm sun and patiently build up an appetite. The croque monsier is fantastic. Delicious flavour of the ham, gooey Swiss cheese, excellent bechamel sauce, crisp toasted bread, more cheese on top, makes each bite thoroughly enjoyable. A bit of a rich meal which is why I love the simplicity of the salad with an excellent French mustard dressing turning fresh crisp lettuce into something else.

A thoroughly enjoyable meal, I though I’d go for dessert – Lady Petrova: crepe with strawberries and Nutella. Prepared by Roule Galette, lovely light soft spongey crepe covered under a generous amount of slightly sweet and tart strawberries which provide a nice burst of freshness and balanced with the chocolatey flavour of Nutella. Simplicity done well, a tasty way to finish off the meal, though surprised at the price tag which is more than the croque monsier.

A touch of Paris located in heart of Melbourne. Cafe hidden down a lane.
Upon entering the staff are so warm and friendly. This continued the entire time I was there.
Food and coffee both delicious.
For a moment I felt like I was transported to Paris. Especially when the staff started speaking French.

We are already big fans of Roulle Galette but wanted to try their sister store next door for something different. A huge thank you to the woman working there. She was doing absolutely everything by herself drom setting up, taking orders, making coffee and making the food. It got busy quickly and she was on top of it all. The Coffee was really good. Impressively so. The food was just as great as we expected. The mushroom with an extra egg and vegan galette piled high with fruit. We love that they cater to so many dietary requirements.

This is a simple French eatery on Flinders Lane that is aligned with the Roule Galette just next door. It is a French sandwich specialist that also serves galettes and crepes. There is a small indoor seating area and a few outdoor tables as well. Opening hours are 7.30am to 3pm (Wed – Fri) and 9am to 4pm (weekends), closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

We had a nice lunch here recently, enjoying a Le Saumon croque monsieur as well as a Bucheron served galette style. Everything was well made and tasted great. Service was friendly and timely as well, prices reasonable for the portion sizes and food quality. Would gladly eat here again based on our experience at Croque Monsieur.

I was hankering after a croque madame and Croque Monseiur really hit the spot. The food was absolutely excellent. The service and atmosphere had something quintessential french, and brought back old memories of breakfasts in France. Thank you so much for the wonderful, wonderful meal.
