This was the perfect stop on our way home from camping on Cape Lookout. Service was slow, but we weren’t in a hurry, and it was nice enjoying the beautiful view. The portion sizes were generous, none of us could finish our meals. Our dog loved her burger patty. They brought it out already cut into strips. It’s so nice to find dog friendly restaurants that have outdoor, waterfront, seating. My daughter thought the honey mustard was the greatest she’d ever had. Having eaten at other waterfront restaurants in Beaufort, this one was relatively less expensive. We found paid parking a block or so away, and appreciated the public bathrooms at street level out front.

The seared tuna was thick and flavorful. Good value for the side salad. The outdoor deck had shaded seats and great views of the Beauort boardwalk. Some of the interior areas and restroom are dated and could use upgrades.

“The food was delicious.” I had the fish sandwich with a delightful, light, crispy batter and enough fish for two sandwiches. My wife had a shrimp basket, which she found very good. The service was excellent, even though the place was busy. Our server, KC, was very attentive to beverage refills, which is always a big plus for me. To top it off, we dined outdoors with an excellent waterside view.”

Let me share my personal experience at the Dock House:

“Whenever we vacation on Emerald Isle, a visit to the Dock House in Buford is a must. Despite the restaurant’s 3.7-star review on Google, our experiences have always been fantastic. The staff, especially during lunch, are a perfect blend of friendly and professional. And the drinks, whether it’s a soda, beer, or a gin and tonic with Emperis Gin, are always on point.”

“It’s worth noting that some of the negative reviews may stem from misunderstandings or unrealistic expectations. For instance, the tables are reserved for dining patrons, not just those ordering drinks. It’s unfortunate that someone gave them a 1-star review for that. But it’s important to remember that every establishment has its own policies and it’s best to approach them with an open mind.”

My advice? Ignore the negativity, approach with friendliness and courtesy, and you’ll undoubtedly enjoy your experience at Dock House. Remember, it’s not just about the food and drinks, but also about the atmosphere and the people you’re with. Here’s to good food, great drinks, and memorable moments! Cheers!

Great spot on the waterfront with excellent views of the Morehead dock. The staff was awesome. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and the bartender smiled and said I’ve never made one but I’ll get another bartender. For my second I asked her to make it, and she did. Easy conversations with the patrons, a couple of which were captains of the large boats docked there. They allowed me on the dock to take some photos, awesome!

I have to start out saying, after reading some of the reviews others have posted I was surprised, because we had a great experience there.

Location was awesome, and sits right next to a little town square/park. We had live music on the night we dined there.

We sat next to several locals, who recommended the shrimp basket (huge, and delicious) to my lady, while I got the best tuna steak I’ve had in my life, which was prepared PERFECTLY. We also had a couple beverages each and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Our waitress, who also happened to be the bartender taking care of a full house inside, gave us enough attention and followed up on everything we needed. They’re still short staffed following Covid shutdown, so maybe if you feel like you’re pressured for time, you’re vacationing in the wrong spot or your ideas of a relaxing and fun evening are far different than mine.

Bottom line – I absolutely WILL go back, and highly recommend the Dock House.

Have you ever heard the expression “it’s the location!”
The location here is everything. Stopping in for a sunset burger or scallops is what this place was designed for. The docks are filled with some of the most beautiful sights at night when the boats turn on their deck lights. The blue, white and red lights accent the view as you sit with friends and enjoy a burger and conversation.
They offer a number of different burgers here. I chose the Tuna Burger, but they also offer Cod, Shrimp, Scallop and yes even beef burgers. Every burger arrived hot and fresh and comes with a nice sized side of fries. One thing you should order is the coleslaw. Their coleslaw is actually some of the best I’ve ever tasted.
My blackened Tuna burger was seasoned very well and cooked correctly. My wife’s North Carolina Burger was cooked perfectly and delivered warm too.
If you’re near the Dock House Restaurant when the sun is setting you owe it to yourself to grab a burger and watch.

The restaurant had good food and decent service but was missing everything needed for the place to move from 4 to 5 stars in my opinion. I waited at the entrance for 20 min because it was crowded. This is understandable but no one greeted the line that had formed or informed us of the wait. Servers had just a few to many tables keeping their attention thin. Prices were a little high to be getting food on paper plates.

Shrimp was good. The flour seemed fresh and not overbearing. Service was good. She was accommodating and friendly. She was a little busy and we told her all was well which eased things for her. The fries were ok at best. But who goes to a seafood place for fries. The Cole slaw was good. Not raving but for sure good. Great atmosphere.

Oyster and mahi sandwiches were very good and reasonably priced for a waterfront restaurant. We enjoyed the view and used the opportunity to pick our next yacht!

Staff was friendly. No indoor seating options for some reason. They sat everyone outside. Food was OK. Service was slow. Great location right on the water. Wife and son had the shrimp burger. Not really a burger, just 4 pieces of shrimp on a bun. That’s it. Nothing else. I had a burger, not very good. It tasted burned, like they didn’t clean the grill. We had the Buffalo shrimp appetizer which was really good.
