Love going here with my boyfriend. It’s our favorite place to eat together. The waitresses are extremely nice to us, and by now they know what we want to drink when we come in, and also, have learned what we eat so that if there isn’t something out on the buffet that we want, they immediately go to make it for us. Very nice.

This place has gone down hill with a lot of argument on weather they should still be in business. I feel the only reason it still thrives is cause it’s the only place in wilkes to have you like and want. Heres the problem with this place folks, the food it warm and not fresh all the time, the staff is rude and practically hide so they don’t have to take plate or bring a drink that if they’re that lazy then I wish I could simply go get my own since this is a serve yourself kinda kinda place. I quit going due to their bad behavior and treatment that now I got to Empire Buffet in Lenior. Trust me folks, you won’t be disappointed as they have everyone shanghai does no and hopefully you’ll come back with a smile. I won’t promise you all the staff members are friendly but the waitresses seem very sweet and want to please the customer. Also I would suggest the owner start taking peoples advice and seek help because she got a bad behavior for staring you down, they don’t seem to also like when you eat to much because to me it feels like they count every time you go to the bar.

It used to be the place to go for Chinese in Wilkesboro. Now it’s gone downhill they repainted the ceiling so it looks better. Used to be packed but not now. The staff seem to be upset that they have to work. The food sits too long on the buffet. I don’t think I’ll go here anymore. But it is the only Chinese buffet around. That might be what’s keeping them going.

I make it a point to stop at Chinese bufffetts while traveling out of town. This is absolutely the worst one I have ever been to nationwide. If you can think of it, it is bad here.
Sesame chicken, pepper chicken, mussels, even the green beans were all disgustingly soggy. The egg drop soup tasted like rancid water.
I asked for pepper, the rude waitress jerked a few single serving pepper packets from the condiment tray and slung them at me. Wow, talk about being cheap! Imagine how many ways they cut corners to save a few pennies in the kitchen? Gross.
On top of the horrendous food, when I went to pay, the woman checking me out never looked at me or spoke to me. She was yelling in mandarin to someone on the phone.
The next time I am through Wilkesboro, I hope and pray I see this dump is out of business. It is abundantly clear the staff/owner at Shanghai cares ZERO about the satisfaction of their customers.
It doesn’t matter if it’s in Wilkesboro or Charlotte, there is no excuse for such poor food and service.

Will NEVER go here again. Food wasn’t that great and waitress was extremely rude. Tried to charge us for kids Buffett and our daughter didn’t even eat. Our waitress actually started asking if we we’re tipping her before we had even paid for our meal.

This was the worst buffet that I have been to, ever. The food looks like it had been sitting out since lunch. They have no entertainment….no tv…radio…etc. They need to go to Charlotte to see what a real Asian all you can eat place is all about! I won’t be going there again…….

I would not eat here if you paid me, and also do not even want to give it a star at all. Food was bad, lady at counter was rude, and when I did not leave a tip the waitress came outside and demanded a tip. This place needs to be shut down.

Food option is okay but preferably tried it one time for an experience and never again. The food was trash. If you want a Chinese experience prefer you to go to a local one and not a buffet.

i like the place but the people are rude very rude one time i went on christmas of 2011 and my dad asked for a drink to go they said no and my dad got mad and said that he wanted a drink for his son thats me and when we left they threating my dad to call the police food ok but im never eating there they are rude i feel sorry for the people that commented bad stuff about that reastraunt as for the ladys that work there i dont care if they like the comments or banned me if you want to go to one go to the one in elezbethton cause they are nice they people that work there are rude and disrespectful if u want to ban me shanghai you can but i will call

Ordered the buffet and went to the sushi part of the bar and next thing I know this woman’s screaming 5 dollar 5 dollar and being rude as hell my aunt said ain’t this part of the buffet she said yes and my aunt told her well shut up about it cause we ain’t gonna screw you after we got done eating the highly mediocre food we paid and said we ought to not tip cause you never came back to check on us if we needed more drinks and after the 5 dollar drama bit I don’t know we paid and left a 1 tip and left and said they officially lost their business with us
