Today, I was thrilled to discover a hidden gem of Japanese cuisine right here in Duarte. It was my first visit, and I was genuinely impressed — the flavor, presentation, and quality far exceeded the price. Especially in times like these, when many sushi houses serve smaller portions, this place does the exact opposite: generous cuts and heartfelt hospitality. Truly one of the best sushi restaurants, and I highly recommend it!

I took my family to Heemo. Mom enjoyed the baked scallops and 4 pc Volcano. My sister and son got the bento box, she chose salmon teriyaki, while my son got the beef teriyaki. Both box specials came with 4 pc California rolls, side salad, 5 pc mixed tempura, and miso soup. My lunch special was the 4 pc sushi, and Ninja roll. It also came with side salad, and miso soup. Everything was good, I just wish the sushi rice was a little softer and stickier so it would stay rolled. We also added the salmon collar which was grilled to perfection and came with a side salad. Our Server Harrison was nice and friendly. It was a casual dining experience. Parking was free and readily available. Restrooms are gender neutral.

The food is the best!!! Best sushi place out here. The server Jason is so funny. You can celebrate your birthday. They have the best play list music. It’s clean welcoming great atmosphere.

Pleasant service, fair prices, not a long wait usually, and good amount of food for the money. Two big screen TVs always playing live sports. Bar that seats five people. Squeaky clean bathroom. Parking can be full right in front during peak lunch and dinner hours but since it’s right next to Smart & Final the grocery store parking lot is always open.

This has become my family’s regular sushi fix. The owners and staff are wonderful! They get to know their regular customers and knock themselves out to accommodate special requests – like for me, who misses the traditional Japanese service and dishes. When they can, they accommodate requests (such as my chop-chop negihamachi roll or scallop crudo). For items not on their menu, I ask ahead of time so they may order and prepare it for a specified date. It means so much to me! Owner and head chef James and his wife Kim are top-notch in customer service, and they deliver.

Thinking about what to eat during lent, I found this sushi place. Their dishes are fresh, no fishy taste or smell. The quality is excellent. Prices are comparable to other sushi restaurants. Truly a great sushi place around my area. My wife and sons love their food as well, I will definitely go back again in the near future.

Discovered Heemo Sushi when walking around the plaza where we usually frequented Baskin Robbins. Enjoyed a weekend lunch with some sushi!
We went big, ordering a bit of everything. We got the mixed tempura, uni nigiri, unagi nigiri, spicy tuna roll, crunch roll, salmon skin roll, crazy roll, and the chirashi bowl. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Presentation was on point too. They have the most visually pleasing presentation for the chirashi bowl I’ve ever seen!
There wasn’t a lot of staff working that day, but we never felt like we were neglected. Food came out at a reasonable pace, waters were refilled, and our empty plates were collected timely.
Plenty of parking in the plaza. Heemo Sushi is a welcomed addition to the Duarte community!
