FOOD
i love that they have a seasonal menu. it changes often so check the website! everything we tried was incredible. the short ribs just melt in your mouth. the new york steak might’ve been the best steak we’ve had at a restaurant (cooked to perfection and that chimichurri is AMAZING)! the pasta had a lovely kick and the cheeseboard and smoked salmon were fantastic! cheesecake was absolutely divine!!
SERVICE
they just knocked it out of the park here. from the hostess, to our fabulous server Arielle, to the food runners, and bussers — the service alone is reason enough to come back. absolute job well done mulvaney’s team!
AMBIANCE
so cutesy and fun. the plates are all adorable and unique per table! the decor is chic and lots of cool photos throughout.
PARKING
limited street paid parking so you may have to circle a bit. plan ahead so you can park close!
excited to come by and try the 28 day aged rib eye too *insert drool emoji* ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Unfortunately, since the kitchen is partially visible, we had a clear view of the dessert station and observed a cook repeatedly run his fingers through his hair and then immediately continue handling food without washing his hands. It was difficult to overlook and ultimately caused us to lose our appetite, so we were unable to finish our meal (though we had already enjoyed our starter).
The manager promptly removed the food and said, “I’ll take care of this,” which we appreciated, however there wasn’t much follow-up or acknowledgment of what had occurred.
We were only charged for our two drinks, which we genuinely appreciated and felt was handled fairly. I’m hopeful management addresses the hygiene standards moving forward, as the restaurant itself is beautiful and has a lot of potential.
We had a 6:45 pm reservation and were seated at a nice corner table with a red tablecloth. The ambiance was spot-on, but that ended up being the only positive part of the evening. We ordered cocktails and smoked salmon as an appetizer, which was just average.
By 7:00 pm, we had our drinks and appetizers, and we placed our dinner order. Our server was attentive, but after waiting 45 minutes for our food, we finally had to flag him down for an update. He explained that they were dealing with three times the usual number of orders, but honestly, that didn’t feel like a valid excuse.
To our surprise, it took a full hour to receive our meals: a small plate of angel hair pasta with crab and short rib over polenta. We quickly ate, as we had tickets to an 8:45 pm concert in Old Town Sac, and by then, we were starting to feel stressed.
Unfortunately, at no point did anyone offer any compensation for the long wait. A simple gesture like, “Sorry for the delay—here’s a small appetizer on us” or even comping the appetizer or dessert would have gone a long way in showing goodwill.
Given the number of restaurants in the area that offer great food, excellent service, and can handle busy nights with ease, it’s hard to imagine returning here anytime soon.
And the food! Everything was delicious! The service was fantastic. Drinks were very well made. Was the perfect evening where the food and atmosphere paired perfectly with old, dear friends. Will definitely be back.
