My boyfriend and I were craving mariscos and decided to try La Marina and had a really good experience here. We started with a mango margarita — I tried it on the rocks and blended — and both were refreshing without being too sweet & had the right amount of liquor. My boyfriend ordered a michelada and enjoyed it a lot. We had plenty of shots throughout the night as we watched the game and chatted.

For appetizers, I got the cold shrimp and octopus cocktail along with half a dozen oysters. The oysters were so fresh that we ended up ordering another half dozen. For our entrée, we shared the Chapuzón, which came with cooked shrimp, octopus, and oysters in a flavorful house sauce that paired really well with everything. The sauce is so addicting, we ordered some rice to enjoy it some more.

We finished with a flan that wasn’t the typical style you see everywhere, but it tasted really good and was a nice way to end the meal.

Danny, the owner, was very welcoming and attentive the entire time. The service was great, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. Overall, it’s a spot I’d definitely recommend for anyone who enjoys mariscos. Ask him about his catering options for the holidays!

Pricing isn’t an issue in my opinion, you pay for what you get and we left very full and satisfied. We will definitely be coming back!

My visit to the new Mexican seafood restaurant was a mix of promising starts and disappointing finishes. I was immediately impressed by the complimentary starters—a small ceviche, salsa, fresh tostadas, and saltines, which I absolutely loved. This led me to order a small fish ceviche appetizer, which was incredibly generous, covering a whole dinner plate and served with fresh avocado.

For my main course, I ordered the fish taco dinner. Unfortunately, this is where the experience fell short. The fish was breaded, oily, and lacked seasoning, with the thick, greasy coating overwhelming the taste and texture of the fish itself. The tacos were simply layered with lettuce and tomato, and came with a side of mayo-based sauce that had a hint of sweetness. I typically prefer my fish tacos with cabbage and a spicy sauce, so this was a letdown.

The sides didn’t help—a very small bowl of cold, bland beans and an equally bland portion of cold rice.

While the service was really good, the food overall was not worth the $40 price tag. Given the many other excellent Mexican and seafood options in the area, the meal was ultimately disappointing, and I wouldn’t return.

The food was bomb, I recommend 10/10. Our server, Ester, her service was also very good. My mom and I both got the same food, Mojara con Ajo. If you’re looking for good affordable food and good service, then come here.

Excellent food. Have not had a bad meal here. Some of the most tender octopus I have ever had. Langostines in an amazingly delicious sauce and some excellent shrimp cocktail. Great cocktails and beer as well. And the owner was super friendly and explained some of the dishes I asked about. Highly recommend.

We had the pleasure of eating here today and enjoyed wonderful food. The tacos were made from tasty and fresh ingredients. A fish salsa was the appetizer and it was so refreshing.

The waiter was absolutely wonderful, handling a large party and other tables with such a polite and caring attitude. It’s a clean place with a great vibe. There’s karaoke on Friday nights.

I’m sure this restaurant will be around for a while. It’s a great addition to Des Plaines’s growing list of fabulous restaurants.

Beautiful interior, amazing service, and super delicious food. I had the coco relleno, camarones zarandeados, and shrimp empanadas — everything was super flavorful and fresh. Drinks were amazing as well, the coconut mojito was to die for! Can’t wait to come back.

Very few restaurants get a review while I’m dining but this restaurant is one of them. The menu has vast and has options for everyone and the food is INCREDIBLE. It’s savory, flavorful, and the portions are generous. The place is clean and cute and the service is attentive. This is definitely one of those hidden gems that deserves much more attention.

Overall a super cute and fantastic place for Mexican seafood and drinks! My husband and I came here during happy hour (3-7pm) where the drinks are half off- the coconut mojito is DELICIOUS! We were craving ceviche and fried red snapper and they did not disappoint. 🙂
Our server, Diani was very sweet and attentive. Thank you! We’ll be back.

I was recommended this place from a mutual friend since I love seafood, and let me tell you I was very pleased with the food! Seasoning on the food is great! Simply delicious and spicy! My piña colada was a virgin since I’m pregnant, still delicious, and my spouse got a Henny horchata drink, he said it was strong, he loved it! Our waitress was very nice, she even told us to come in the summer to enjoy the outdoor patio and live music overall 20/10! See you soon!
