What a joy it is to find a regular “old school” diner! Located inside an office building on the second floor (enter from the alley), you step into the past once in the door. The long curved 50’s style counter, the booths, it’s all here. And, let me say, everything was clean and well maintained. Our waitress (I use that term as it too is ‘old school’) was fantastic. Service was quick, friendly and efficient, and the breakfast food, although basic as I would expect it to be, was really great. I love places like this!!! Please don’t change…

Went to Nicky’s for lunch today and ordered the first salad on the menu. If you are looking for a feast, this one has everything including the kitchen sink. Fresh ingredients and beautifully presented. I could only finish about 2/3rds of it! Loved that the dressing is served on the side as well! I went at noon and there was no wait for a spot. Friendly staff both front and back of the house. Great value for the money. You’ll spend half what you would and Grand Concourse to get virtually the same thing.

Update: Finally went for lunch this week. No surprises here but Nicky’s does fantastic with that too – the Pittsburgh melt is delicious.
You seriously cannot get a diner-like experience anywhere else in downtown other than at Nicky’s. I can’t speak for the lunch, but Nicky’s Grant Street always does breakfast PERFECTLY. Sure the pancakes, French toast and waffles aren’t going to be fancy. But are you at Nicky’s for fancy? No. You’re at Nicky’s to get fantastic no frills food, great service from every employee and to be blown away by how cheap everything is. Where else in downtown can you get two super filling pancakes, crispy bacon and a big glass of orange juice for less than $15? I hope this place stays in business forever – new favorite found.

I used to go to Nicky’s all the time when I worked downtown. I love the breakfast options. Now I make a point to go in and still eat there. The friendly atmosphere and diner experience is great when downtown. The sandwiches/wraps are also great!

Went here for breakfast. We ordered the French toast, sausage links, eggs, and coffee. There wasn’t anything outstanding about the breakfast menu, pretty much just the standard breakfast staples, however everything is fairly priced and exactly what you would expect. I thought the counter seating was fun and unique, although with such a large counter there are few booths and you may find the counter to be your only option.

Food is ok. Service is nice. The food is overpriced. Ordered a fish sandwich with a pint of turners tea. 18 dollars before tax. More than listed on the menu. Dont really see a reason to come here unless you work nearby or have business in the grant building.

I’ve been eating at Nicky’s for many years now. My favorite meal is the Philly cheese steak hoagie. It’s a small diner with friendly staff and well worth the money. Anytime you are downtown try it or if you work nearby, it’s great for lunch

After a mediocre experience at the Terrance Room in the Omni William Penn where I experienced unfriendly inefficient service and poorly prepared food it was refreshing to find this place where the service, food and atmosphere couldn’t have been better. You won’t find avacado toast but can enjoy fresh basic breakfast dishes like the perfectly cooked eggs and fresh ham I enjoyed. I’m adding Nicks’s to my must visit list when in Pittsburgh

Top notch for breakfast and the wait staff was particularly kind. We had several questions and they were patient. Would recommend!
