We had a fantastic lunch at Le Chat Botté after visiting Himeji Castle. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the chef-owner and treated to an outstanding meal. We enjoyed freshly made tofu bread, butternut squash soup, duck confit, chicken with mushrooms and chestnut sauce, wagyu beef lasagna, and a homemade apple cake, all prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Every dish was authentic, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The chef was incredibly personable and even shared recommendations for local cafés and bakeries to visit afterward. Dining here felt like being welcomed into someone’s home and enjoying a delicious home-cooked meal. This lunch was truly one of the highlights of our trip.

A cute small restaurant- the owner is from Paris and him and his wife run the restaurant. The food is soooo fresh, everything is made with love and they made lots of accommodations for my wife who has some allergies. Great place to chill and have a great meal before you go off and see more tourist attractions.

Had a fantastic, truly French meal with local Japanese ingredients. Multi course, you pick your main. Had the beef lasagne and duck confit. Started with a sweet local Japanese pumpkin and yellow cauliflower soup, 3 small tasty bites (lentils, pork rilletes, corn/egg salad) and amazing hot tofu bread with pistachio butter. Good wine. Great conversation with the Parisienne owner about baseball, and Japan. So glad we came. Highly recommend!

Absolutely fabulous meal created by a kind and talented French chef. A multi-course meal took us from a spectacular butternut squash soup through to salmon tartare to a steak whose sauce I’d want to bathe in. Even the dessert was fantastic! Every bite was a delight. A must-eat in Himeji!

Had a great lunch over the weekend! The restaurant has authentic and delicious french food (which is hard to find in Japan). The owners of the restaurant (Dimitri and his wife) are very welcoming and care about their customers.

Great experience! Normally, we are a bit wary about european food abroad, since you never know what to expect. But this restaurant was a true exception. We had a fantastic lunch menu (for an unbeatable price), while the owner gave insightful and entertaining account of his move to Japan.

The restaurant is run by a Parisienne and his Japanese wife who are both chefs. They were very welcoming and went out of their way to prepare food that met our dietary requirements. If you are visiting the castle there is no better place to relax and enjoy authentic French cooking.
