We’re happy to say that we will come again!
Good location, close to hotel, many businesses nearby and close to highway.
Staff are always smiling and it’s ready to serve.
Place looks decent from outside and lovely inside. Plenty of room, really nice decorated, music that was playing was relaxing. Really good atmosphere.
When it’s comes to food. I really like presenting of the food on the plate. Looks really appealing. Now taste, I’m not picky person so I enjoyed their food. Menu is not huge so when it’s comes to certain food they taste good. It’s not like some crazy high restaurant but it’s good.
Now cons, there is nothing really huge but its review and I want to be fair. All those things I’m sure going to be solve.
So first one, quiet long wait for food. I always was coming there hungry so extra wait wasn’t pleasing for my self digesting stomach at the moment.
Next, their parking lot could be fixed, big holes and bunch of loose pavement pieces.
My Wifes is more picky. She really loves their Philly Steak & Cheese Egg Rolls but in other two trips she describe food being plain. I mean how good chicken salad can be lol in her eyes place is 3/5 due to food and long wait.
So I do understand some of divided opinions. I guess whoever feel like trying it, should really try and maybe it will fit their taste. I hope to see improvements. Place like this should be busy all the time.

10/7/24 – Perfect espresso martini. The Southwestern burger & veal marsala were fine meals. Chocolate cake hit the spot for the occasion.
#
8/24 – Delicious caprese salad with grilled salmon and balsamic reduction.
#
12/23 – Fresh mussels, house salad with salmon & burger hit the spot.
#
9/23 – Enjoyed the new special shrimp dumplings, stuffed mushrooms, eggplant florentine, & grilled lamb chops. Exceptional.

1/2023 – Packed on early Saturday eve. Two salmon dinners were overcooked as service was busy. Hot peppers on pork chops weren’t replaced with sweet ones as ordered, but it was the best dish of three, tender with a well-cooked baked potato and creamed spinach. Two glasses of fine Federalist Cabernet. Retro Mudslide cocktail was great.

Late 9/22 – Mussels, Philly Steak and Cheese Egg Rolls, Meatball Parm grinder. Fine job by the owner cooking. The meat pizza we suggested has been added to the menu.

4th visit: We’re happy to see The Mill House improving as it finds its bearings. New unique special cocktails. Reordering the mussels app and salad with salmon add-on, both are still fine choice. The All American Hamburger w/bacon, cheese, BBQ sauce & fried onions was dry but ordered well done. Service lagged after dishes were served. Relaxing environment. A meatball grinder to go with green peppers was well received.

8/22 dinner: fresh mussel starter with white wine garlic sauce & bread, Mill House house salad with salmon add-on and 3 Mill’s Tacos. (One chicken/two beef with peppers and onions)

Returning to The Mill House ten days after opening, the ribbon cutting event brought out good food. Keeping up with reviews, it’s regrettable to see the negative ones. I agree with everyone who says this restaurant just opened and hope to see it improve, as well as understanding any customer leaving if their order is not delivered beyond a reasonable time.
That said, everything on 7/18 was well prepared except for the hamburger sliders – dry with no dressing. The fresh fruit platters had a beautiful presentation. The seedless watermelon was crispy and flavorful. The penne with chicken breast and broccoli was satisfying as was the garden salad. Three desserts, NY cheesecake, chocolate mousse and chocolate cake bites all had the right balance. Wine and coffee was also served with a celebratory cake made by a friend.

7/8/22 – The Mill House Kitchen & Bar opened yesterday, in Torrington on 367 Winsted Rd. Friends of the owner, we had to drop in to try the menu and wish him well since we missed the pre-opening event. We saw the restaurant while it was being built and got a tour of all the rooms and décor. Big and spacious with a rustic country interior. Now with white tablecloths on the tables it’s ready to go.
The menu consists of steaks, fish, pasta, burgers and pizza. We ordered two apps: fried calamari and the garlic parmesan chicken wings. The calamari was fresh and crispy. Not at all greasy. The wings were tender and moist but could have baked a little longer to our liking. A thick white house bread comes with dinner. It reminds me of the bread I make in my bread machine.
No special cocktail menu yet but drinks from the bar were well made. Our two entrées were grilled salmon and asparagus and New York Prime Strip Steak medium-well with broccoli. They were out of roasted potatoes but the garlic mashed was suitable. The salmon was perfectly grilled and had a good portion size. The steak was cooked to order and seasoned.
We wanted to try the pizza so we ordered one to take home. We shared a slice to give feedback to our friend. Tasty. There is no pizza on the menu with meat other than buffalo chicken, so we had a custom made hamburger, sausage, pepperoni and bacon.
There is something on this menu for everyone. We saw a lot of burgers going by our booth. Service is attentive and friendly. Open 7 days. Specials of the day coming soon. A large private event room is also available behind two large antique wood doors.
The only downfall was when I came last week and the bartender, Amanda, gave me a drink menu she had worked on for the fall and I was so excited to try literally everything on there. But tonight she gave me the sad news that her drink menu wouldn’t be the featured drinks. She was still able to make myself and my son amazing cocktails and recommended an amazing white wine to compliment my mussels.
Please try these guys out. Don’t believe the bad reviews from when they first opened. The kinks have been worked out. And your taste buds will agree
We were lucky enough to get to interact with the owner, Fred. It became apparent that not only was he dedicated to quality service and delivering a top notch dining experience. A staff member even told me the owner was so dedicated to the new location, that even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and getting the virus himself, he decided to continue on with his project and finish the feature wall behind the hostess stand. A true testament to his lifelong commitment to service and hospitality.
It was nice to get a sneak peak of the private event room, which is set back to afford privacy. Whether a sports banquet, baby shower, celebration of life or a special occasion, The Mill House has the ability to cater to any need, and a gorgeous space to top it off! Much to my surprise, I even got a look at the industrial sized kitchen. Not only was it massive, but it was the cleanest restaurant kitchen I have ever seen!
From the moment we walked in, there was attentive service and a friendly face to great us, we were so glad we went and will 100% be back!
