TLDR: We eat here frequently because we enjoy the food and can get all we can drink tea.

McAllisters is on our favorites lists because I can get a good sandwich and my wife can get her favorite salad. We both also like the tea and can get it the way we like it with free refills. The restaurant does counter ordering and then they deliver your food to the table. Occasionally they will check to see if you want a refill, but usually we go up to the counter to ask for refills.

I switch up between the French dip and the Cubano. Both are very good and are usually generous with the meat, and the French dip comes with a tasty au jus. I sometimes upgrade my side to the fresh fruit, although occasionally it is mostly grapes. Otherwise, we both like the kettle chips as our side. My wife enjoys the Southwest Chicken and Avocado Salad with the Chipotle Ranch dressing.

Occasionally we will get our favorite as a pick 2 combo with soup. I don’t think we have had any soup and not enjoyed it. The portion is small, but in line with most other restaurants. They also have good cookies if you are into dessert.

At risk of being called cheap—one thing that kind of bothers me is that for a long time they would not accept tips. They even noted that if you left a tip they would donate it to a charity. But now they have the dreaded pop up at the register for a tip before anyone has even provided you any service. I don’t mind tipping, but I still think that tipping should come as a result of good service and not as a guilt trip at the register. What happened? Did you give your folks a pay cut and now we are making it up? End rant…

We came here for lunch. It was super busy even on a rainy day. It was hard to find an inside table to eat at. The staff were friendly and worked hard to keep tables cleaned and to move through the lunch rush. My husband and I chose the mix and match meal. I ordered a plain potato and a half sandwich. I got the jalapeno turkey crunch. It was OK but not spicy at all, or any heat for that matter. My husband ordered the cheddar broccoli soup and the chicken salad. The soup was very bland and needed a lot of salt and pepper. Overall, I’m not impressed, but it wasn’t bad. It’s definitely not worth the money. I would go to Jason’s deli over this place. I was really hoping this would be better. My kids snubbed their noses at everything, so we ended up having to go somewhere else for them.

Second time eating here, and it was as good as the first time. This is the perfect time of year to enjoy eating outside on the patio. I ordered a side salad and potato soup. Very good! I see a third trip in my future.

I will never be returning back here after how my family and I were treated. We ordered 3 sandwiches, 2 off the menu sandwiches and 1 with 3 modifications, no mustard, extra mayo and no tomato.

My son received his meal first, then my fiance and I received our sandwiches. They had mixed up the special request for my sandwich with hers. We politely sent it back so it could be fixed.

When they returned 5-10min later, the order was messed up in the exact same way. This time I was a little irritated and asked that it be fixed again.

5 minutes later they returned with my sandwich only and said that this was actually correct. I started eating an noticed that there was still no mustard and tomato on my sandwich. At this point I was mad, but too hungry to care. I notified the worker that was helping us and told them I was not pleased, but I didn’t want a retry.

2 minutes later my fiance got her sandwich correct. As she began to eat, I was halfway finished with my sandwich and then bit into a sandwich toothpick that was placed inside my sandwich between meat. I have never been so mad before.

I told the worker and she first offered a remake and then a dessert. I refused both as I no longer trusted the cooks in the back to not mess with my meal. She then offered to take care of the meal in a refund and asked for my receipt. I gave it to her and never saw her again. I had to ask the cashier to reprint my receipt. I never received the refund either.

I send in a complaint to their website and have also gotten no response back either.

Employees were very helpful. It was my first time in and I had the pleasure with speaking to Kaitlyn and Morgan. They both walked around the store multiple times checking up on everyone. Chefs did very great with presentation and it tasted amazing

I have eaten here a few times and always enjoyed my food. Today I bought lunch for boss as a treat and while eating his sandwich he found a full size cricket in his food. I took the time to drive back to the restaurant to talk to the manager. I understand these things happen sometimes, I’ve worked in food service for many years. However, when I spoke to the manager she was rude and implied that I lied about finding it and that it “wasn’t there when she sent out the box”. I have never been called a liar for bringing a concern to someone’s attention. This reaction makes me feel like this kind of thing happens often and that they will not take accountability. I was expecting I am sorry and we would go our ways and I would continue to come eat here in the future. I do not plan on coming back because of the managers reaction when it could have been handled differently.

Ordered a salad to go (I wasn’t at the restaurant so can’t review that).

I ordered the grilled chicken salad.. I got it before and thought it was decent, just a little stingy with the add ins. Still good.

My salad today was missing both the chicken and the bacon. That was a big disappointment, a pretty boring salad without it. There was a lot of pepper added as well, it’s not on the ingredients and wasn’t on my last salad.

I feel like they were just winging it with my salad today.

Kaitlyn was so happy to help us, she came over to make sure everything was good and refilled our drinks. We ordered an half Italian sandwich with a cup of Fire Roasted Veg soup, and a Black Angus Roast Beef Spud with a sweet tea. Oh my !! So good!! The sandwich had enough for a full sandwich and the spud was huge!! I started eating the spud before the picture (sorry)

I’ve only been to MacAllister three or four times mostly because it’s kind of far from me. But where I live I’m pretty sure delis are banned. I cannot understand why There are no delis in the West Phoenix valley. I know I know everyone will tell you, Goodcents firehouse mr pickles (gross) Jersey Mike’s, blah blah blah… those are not delis. those are sub shops. for those that don’t know delis are like a mini market that have amazing sandwiches on any kind of bread you want. not just a hoagie roll. And many many meat options that are fresh sliced, from a deli case, and dozens of toppings to choose from.

Anyway, McAllister’s is the closest thing to a real deli that I have found in West Valley so far. That said of the other two or three options that are so-called delis McAllister‘s is the best for two reasons, one price and two variety. My sandwich soda and side cost $15. not bad. The so-called deli across the street would have cost me over 30. In fact the last time I was there it was 35 for a sandwich side and a drink but that’s another story.

This time around I got the beef and cheddar with horseradish sauce. Really good. I was not even hungry for that when I came in there, but I saw it on the menu and had to have it. I will say the cucumber salad was a little disappointing. they should just call that tomato salad. And their sweet tea was good as well. Service is really good and the place is clean. If it were closer to me I’d probably go there once a week at least. Frankly, it couldn’t be in a worse location. Nobody wants to be on that part of bell road.
