We had stopped by Tane around 5 pm for early dinner and luckily caught the tail end of happy hour – plenty of seats available!

We went for their Point Reyes specialty rolls, which were the only spicy option on the menu. We also tried the garlic ramen with katsu on top – the ramen was delicious and packed a spicy punch! Next up were the avocado classic rolls, and for dessert, we had the berry cheesecake.
Overall, the food was great, though the dessert was just okay. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth checking out – just be warned, the wait times can get long for this small but popular spot!

Glad to report back that the hype is real. The food at Tane Vegan Izakaya is not only good but also features excellent options that cater to allergies. The ambiance is perfect for a date night. Their unique vegan sushi is absolutely un-beet-able. It is one of the best I have ever had and incredibly delicious! The staff is incredibly helpful and kind. I particularly loved the vegan caviar and house-made vegan aioli. It adds a nice touch to their speciality sushi. My only wish is that it were closer to home, so I could carrot-on enjoying their sushi more often.

We were so fortunate to find this restaurant! The atmosphere was fun, the staff exceptionally friendly, and the food was a tour de force of flavors. The miso soup was delicious, filled with fresh seaweed and tofu. The katsu was nicely breaded and the aioli tasted as good as it looked. The tofu was ever so lightly breaded and covered in a delicious glaze. There we so many rolls to choose from. I went with Philadelphia and loved it, but I’m anxious to return and try others that looked appealing. The ice cream was a bit on the grainy side, but the fruit was fresh and delicious. They did not yet have their liquor license, but we were told we could bring in our own sake until then. We loved our experience and very much look forward to returning soon!

Opinion Worth a Thought
Presentation of food is artistic and unique. The texture and taste of some dishes is close to the “real thing” (i.e., non-vegetarian, non-vegan), but, to me, that defeats the purpose of eating vegan. Other dishes we had do bring out the vegan flavor, which I enjoyed very much

This stuff kinda bussing. The best rolls were the spicy ones. Can’t beat that Point Reyes, and Monterey. The Kailua was also good. The Ewa and Waimanalo were alright. Our orders were brought in as they were finished. The wait was not too long between rolls. The Da Bao was bleh. The Shizen Shiitake were meh too. The place itself is small but cozy and kept clean. The vegan rolls are not a replacement for sushi, you are cognizant to the fact that you’re eating veges, unlike some other vegan rolls. Regardless, it’s delicious and novel.

Simply the best sushi I’ve ever had, which happens to be vegan. I am so happy to have discovered this remarkable restaurant, and look forward to my next dining experience. Not only was the food artfully prepared, but the space was aesthetically pleasing, and the staff was truly warm and welcoming.

This place exceeded my expectations: you can’t go wrong with anything in “Speciality Rolls”, and so cool that its all vegan. Waiting time can be a lot without a reservation. Public parking lots available walking distance from the restaurant, but can get very busy during evenings so keep that in mind.

I ordered online so I can only review the food not the restaurant. Food was incredible – some of the best sushi I’ve had in my life. Super creative rolls with so much texture and flavor going on in every bite. Loved every roll that we ordered – the wedge and Makaha were personal favorites but also really liked the ewa and kewalo. The bao was just ok. Would absolutely come back, honestly I’d eat this once a week if I could.

Dropped by this sushi spot recently and tried a few dishes—here’s my honest take:
• The Wedge – 3.5/5
A tempura sushi roll where the crunchy coating dominates the flavor a bit too much. Not bad, but not my favorite.
• Point Reyes – 5/5
Absolutely delicious! A little spicy, but in the best way. Easily one of the best sushi rolls I’ve had in a while. Highly recommend trying it.
• Negima (Yakimono) – 4/5
Really tasty and a great pick if you like experimenting with new flavors. Slightly oily and would’ve been even better with a dipping sauce, but still worth trying.

The place is calm with a simple, cozy ambiance—definitely worth spending an evening date here.

You have to have a reservation even for a weeknight as they are a very small restaurant. They reserve a table for four for only 1.5 hours. But that is where the cons end. We loved the food and the service. The server was extremely patient and answered our questions and made suggestions for modifications. The times they did not know, they did not hesitate to ask in the kitchen and come back with the answer. Really appreciated the quality of service. The small plates are as delicious as the sushis. Loved every bite I took. Do not leave without the pineapple soda and the berry bliss. I am not a cheesecake fan but loved theirs!

Da bao – mild with the plum wine sauce; it just sits on your palate without overwhelming it
Shizen shiitake – tempura with mushroom and matcha salt – had great flavors
Brussel sprouts – they gave us the agave sauce on the side to accommodate our request and it worked just perfectly for us. The agave balanced the chili threads and they weren’t too spicy
Pacifica – what a delight this sushi was! Very delicate flavors. I was worried about eggplant in a sushi but this was just perfect
The wedge – deep fried and spicy – so well presented and tasted so good – must have if you like spicy food
