This is my favorite lunch place in DC. The food is outstanding, the staff are friendly, and the restaurant itself provides the feeling that you’re enjoying a local sandwich shop. This is the best sandwich bread you can get in DC, and it’s not even close. You can taste the freshness in every bite and the addition of being able to buy the meats and fresh baked rolls separately gives Salumeria a local, small-European town quality that can’t be matched at other places. For this price point and this level of sandwich creation, you won’t find anything better in DC. Try the Crudo, it’s a classic, simple sandwich that provides rich flavors in every bite with fresh mozzarella and prosciutto that melts in your mouth.

The crudo sandwich feels like something you’d grab for lunch at a deli in Rome. Prosciutto, good mozzarella, little bit of olive oil. It’s expensive but it’s so delicious and nostalgic it’s worth it.
