We stopped in at Ruth’s Creole Kitchen after finishing up the Hide & Go Bike ride and had such a great experience. We came with two longtime friends and between all of us we tried a wide variety of dishes.

The seafood gumbo was hearty and full of flavor, the seafood tip was excellent, and while the crab bisque was out, everything else more than made up for it. The wings were a hit, the Shrimp & Crawfish Etouffee was absolutely delicious, and the red beans and rice were a perfect staple. The Shrimp & Sausage Creole was packed with flavor, and the fresh made beignets were light, fluffy, and the perfect ending.

We also got to meet the owner, who was super friendly and shared that many of the dishes are based on his mom’s recipes with his own twist. The restaurant itself is very inviting, with a clean and stylish interior that feels like a little taste of New Orleans. The entire place was spotless, including the restrooms, which is a detail that really adds to the dining experience. Even the silverware and plates were pristine. We should have taken more photos of the food, but after a 7 mile ride we were too hungry to wait.

All in all, Ruth’s Creole Kitchen delivers authentic Creole comfort food in a welcoming and very clean setting. We will definitely be back — probably sooner than we should. 😛

Highly recommend!

I’m still thinking about their shrimp and crayfish etouffee right NOW and I had it last night for dinner and warmed up the leftovers for breakfast! The flavors in the dish were absolutely divine. Perfectly balanced in terms of salt, spice, fat and acid. No one flavor stood out, the onion, bell pepper, celery, tomato, garlic etc all blended together to create a symphony of savory! I also had the peach sangria. It was a perfect complement to the meal. A little sweetness and coolness to go with the heat in the dish. The service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was laid back. I deducted one star for the volume level of the music. It was LOUD. I ate alone but I could see how one might struggle conversing with a dinner companion. However, there was a large party in their private dining room and the music may have been for them and is not usually that loud. Otherwise, it’s a great place! I will definitely back and would bring friends and family. Can’t wait to try the next dish here!

We went for the Jazz and Jambalaya event they host on Friday’s! The atmosphere 10/10, the music 10/10, the food 10/10. I ordered sangria, the Caesar salad, and a side of macaroni and cheese while my sister ordered the seafood pasta, and we shared beignets. Hands down, my favorite Caesar salad I have ever had! Everything tasted amazing! I absolutely loved the seafood pasta which is surprising given I am not a big fan of seafood. The shrimp was not chewy and did not have a fishy taste that I have had from other restaurants.

Visited this evening for the first time and our friend group had a fantastic experience. The Jambalaya with smoked sausage & chicken was seasoned perfectly and topped with a lobster cream sauce. The Shrimp & Crawfish Etouffee had an amazing flavor as well as the Muffaletta and Blackened Chicken sandwiches. The owner and talented chef, Ruben, was welcoming and dropped by our table to ensure everything was fresh and great. The meal was followed by satisfying desserts of Bananas Foster and Beignets. You need to try this locally owned restaurant! I believe you will appreciate the portions and pricing. We will definitely be back.

Ruth’s Creole Kitchen — Absolutely Worth the Trip!

I traveled over 500 miles just to bring my family to Ruth’s Creole Kitchen for a special family dinner — and it was so worth it! There were 10 of us, and from the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel right at home. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and professional, and the even chef came out to greet us personally — such a thoughtful touch!

Now, the food… simply unforgettable. The étouffée, catfish, lobster pasta, mac n’ cheese, and gumbo were all bursting with flavor. Every single dish was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. You can taste the love and authenticity in every bite.

My family and I had the most amazing dinner experience — laughter, full plates, and full hearts. If you haven’t been to Ruth’s Creole Kitchen yet, do yourself a favor and go. It’s a true gem, and we can’t wait to come back! We didn’t take pictures of our dinner. I forgot about that throughout our excitement, but I would like to include that Ruth’s Creole Kitchen also have an amazing brunch as well!!!

There’s not enough I can say about this place. The owners are amazing. The story behind the restaurant is so beautiful. It’s dedicated to his mother. They occasionally have a live band and when they don’t, they play soft, chill music at the perfect volume, where you still can have a conversation at your table without yelling. Now let’s get into brunch. I had the bananas fosters pancakes and they were delicious from the dinner menu. I think my favorite is going to be the crabcakes. I absolutely loved them. I hope this place gets all the business. Everyone was very friendly. They have a meeting room with glass doors so you still feel like you’re sitting in the main dining area. I really love this place hopefully business will pick up and the quality and service stays consistent.

“Be A New Orleanian…Wherever You Are.” I’ve been genuinely missing my past years living in Southeast Louisiana, so this afternoon a dear “504 Area Code” friend introduced me to Chef Reuben Carey & his phenomenal restaurant Ruth’s Creole Kitchen!! It felt & tasted like the return to “home” that my soul needed. From the friendliness & hospitality of the Chef & his caring Team, to the comfortable ambiance & decor playing classic R&B music, to the last sweet bite of the powdered sugar on my hot fresh beignets; I couldn’t imagine any place I’d rather have been at that time!!
We enjoyed an amazing seafood dip & toast appetizer, followed by the finest seafood gumbo & delicious seasoned Cajun crackers I’d tasted since living in the Crescent City itself. Honestly, even after my incredible dinner, I didn’t want to leave. It just all felt THAT wonderful!
There are a number of restaurants in the OKC area which offer Creole & Cajun cuisine–but none of them, until today, tasted “just right.”
That’s because Chef Reuben & his Team add the purely genuine New Orleans Ingredient that none of the other restaurants offer: Love. Love of Life. Love for the City we once called Home. Love for the art of cooking & caring for the Souls you feed. Love for making every day joyful & every new face a friend. Love for experiencing the best possible moments & feeling the satisfaction they bring.
So, what are y’all waiting for?? Go feed your Soul at Ruth’s Creole Kitchen!!! I’m so happy that I did, because it really is the BEST!!

10/10 spot!! Came here on a rhythm and poetry night, and the vibes were immaculate. Had to wait an hour for wings (I was aware of said wait before ordering), but the wait was well worth it. Chef Reuben took great care of his guests, and I’m excited to come back

I was really excited to try this place. The menu seemed decent and it’s something new in the area I hadn’t tried yet.

I guess we showed up on a bad day.

The service was extremely slow – this was due to the team being short-staffed. Not necessarily the team’s fault, but we found ourselves frequently waiting for water refills and getting our order taken.

We started with the seafood dip and crab cakes. The dip was really oily, claimed to have veggies in it, which didn’t find any, and overall was okay, but not great. This recipe needs to be tweaked, or maybe it was an off day in the kitchen (which was also understaffed according to our server).

The crab cakes were actually really good. They are small, and a bit pricey, but good.

We ordered gumbo and crab bisque, but only when they brought my gumbo out did they mention to my friend they were out of bisque and he would need to order something else. This was frustrating. We had intended to enjoy our meal coursed out, and now I’m eating my 2nd course alone while my friend watches.

We then ordered the lobster Mac & cheese, the Cajun wrap, and the muffuletta.

Well, the lobster Mac was not available and was now a seafood pasta with a cream sauce – this was pretty good.

The Cajun wrap looks like something I’d whip up in my kitchen with leftovers, after smoking too much weed. Rice and sausage in a tortilla with cheese melted on top.

And the muffuletta- the olive tamponade was great, but they used a hamburger bun, and this felt like an Italian sandwich, not a legit muffuletta.

The worst part of all, I was never offered any hot sauce. Where’s the Crystals or Louisiana at? This is a Cajun place, hot sauce is a staple and it should be on the table or offered. (Again, they were understaffed.)

This place has been open almost a year and they are still working on a liquor license, so don’t expect any NOLA cocktails. No, you may not order a Sazerac, Ramos Gin Fizz, or a Hurricane. 🙁

I appreciate what they are trying to do, I understand it’s difficult opening a new restaurant, maintaining staff, etc… I would expect the owners to be here, all on hands on deck in this scenario. Instead you have an overworked crew of 4 trying their best and dropping the ball at almost every step of the dining experience. (to no fault of their own – this falls on the shoulders of leadership).

I’d love to come back and give this place a 2nd chance, but if I can’t trust what’s on the menu, or am worried it will take another 1.5 hours to eat (long wait times to take our order and receive food), I doubt I will.

These experiences are another reason why people are dining out less. The prices don’t match the food, service, or experience.

Low-key wished we had gone down the street to a similar style restaurant.

I hate to say this and am not trying to disparage the place. But I challenge ownership/leadership to take this constructively and do better!

And again, the staff was doing their best – this all falls back on the owners in my opinion.
