My wife and I dropped into La Ezkina recently to try a restaurant we have not visited previously. The place was completely empty when we walked in and the workers seemed thrilled to have customers. Our service was excellent and the food was good but it was such a bummer to see nobody else there. It must be so hard to run a restaurant these days. The bar completely dominates the middle of the restaurant and I found it distracting. In a way, it’s not clear if they want to be a bar or a restaurant. I’m sure I’ll be back at some point. Hopefully others will try it too.

Victor was great. The food was just ok. We g9t the drink wrong. Then the food came out wrong! When you have all the options in WC it’s hard to choose this place over others. Nothing stood out .

Food was great service was absolutely horrible. While the server watched us finish our drinks she never once came to see how our food was or refill our water. We stated at the beginning of the order we wanted to keep a menu to order more drinks but she never returned. We were left so parched tho we couldn’t finish our meals two check ins would have made this an entirely different experience.

Fabulous cocktails compliment the food, both are outstanding. Each dish was flavorful. The Huitlacoche Stuffed Chicken was perfectly cooked, white sweet potato mash paired perfectly with the vegetables and was plated beautifully.

The service was exceptional from start to finish. Family owned, friendly, attentive service and genuinely passionate about the menu.

Bonus: it’s away from the busy of downtown, sports is on the TV’s at the bar if you like, parking is easy and on-site without meters and they have a lovely patio seating area.

Such a hidden gem in WC. Been here twice now and both times the food was excellent and even got better the second go around. Service was great and hospitable. Couldn’t ask for more from a restaurant.

5 Stars – Absolutely Incredible Experience

From the moment I walked in, I was blown away by the service. The owner is hands-on and clearly takes pride in the place. The staff is friendly, attentive, and just all-around amazing.

The vibe here is on point — great energy, clean environment, and a space you actually want to hang out in. The food? Fantastic. Everything I ordered was fresh, flavorful, and exceeded expectations.

Special shoutout to Marisela behind the bar — super personable and made the whole experience even better.

This place has it all. I’ll be a regular for life.

A cozy cantina with ample indoor & patio seating, parking in the rear of the building & generous portions. Very good tequila selection, mostly additive-free brands. Exceptionally clean; the menu is varied enough not to seem stale and yet concise enough to make you hate the Old Testament of the Cheesecake Factory.

Exceptional service; ask for Alfredo if you’re there for lunch. Highly recommended.

A buddy and I had a great time at La Ezkina. This was our first time and we tried several of their tequila cocktails, mezcal paloma, traditional paloma, margaritas. The bartender, Victor, was excellent and walked us through the cocktail menu. We also ordered several tacos. The flan is absolutely beautiful, paired with a mezcal coffee cocktail.

We’ll definitely be back.

The only complaint on this place I had seen in the reviews was that it could be very noisy, so we went in hoping that on a weekend at opening at 11:00 it would be a lot less noisy and we were correct. The atmosphere was mellow, not terribly loud and the staff are very very efficient. I had a shrimp and a fish taco. My son had three fish tacos and our daughter had the chicharones and guacamole. In addition, we took home some chicken enchiladas for my husband. There wasn’t a single dish that wasn’t beyond Divine! They’re badder for the shrimp and the fish taste like tempura better. Very light, very airy and it was fantastic in terms of the flavors. Lunch for four ran under $100. So between the pricing and the outstanding food, I cannot recommend this place enough

La Ezkina is officially the spot in Walnut Creek, and trust me, you won’t want to miss it. I had the pleasure of dining at this new grill and cantina, and it’s everything you’d want it to be—and then some. From the vibrant decor to the mouthwatering food, this place nails it. But the real gems? The people behind La Ezkina. They are some of the nicest, most generous folks you’ll ever meet.

Our evening started off with drinks that were just as impressive as the food. My friends enjoyed some unique cocktails while I savored a mocktail that was anything but ordinary. They even have gin and vodka from Mexico! You don’t see that every day.

For starters, we went all in with the Chicharrones, which are house-made and pack the perfect crunch. Then came the Mexican Volovanes—think flaky puff pastry stuffed with mole, potatoes, and chorizo. Every bite was bursting with flavor.

When it was time for the main course, La Ezkina did not disappoint. We dove into the special Garlic Shrimp over rice. Generous portions, and that sauce? Wow. Just wow. We also tried the Mole De La Casa—a creative twist on the traditional dish, featuring shredded chicken over rice in a pool of rich, house-made mole. For my main, I couldn’t resist the Carnitas special, topped with crispy chicharrones and jalapeños, served with guacamole and three types of salsa. And let me tell you, those house-made tortillas sealed the deal. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared.

Dessert? Oh yeah, we went there. The Tres Leches Cake was perfectly moist, and those Churros with fresh ice cream and sauce? The hot and cold combo was the perfect way to wrap up the meal. I was in food heaven.

So, do yourself a favor and check out La Ezkina. Support local and let them know Rafael, aka Hoppinessisbeer, sent you! You’re welcome.
