Social Profile:

Steak ‘n Shake, a classic American brand, was founded in 1934 in Normal, Illinois by Gus Belt who pioneered the concept of premium burgers and milkshakes. For over 85 years, the company’s name has been symbolic of its heritage. The word steak stood for steakburger. The term shake stood for hand-dipped milkshakes. Gus was determined to serve his customers the finest burgers and shakes in the business. Today, Steak ‘n Shake remains the better burger leader, serving premium 100% beef steakburgers, hand-dipped milkshakes, thin crispy fries, and more. Steakburgers are made without preservatives or artificial ingredients, topped with fresh produce, and always hand-crafted to order.

Chain known for steakburgers & milkshakes offering a dinerlike space with retro flair.

Self service machines have removed the classic diner feel.. That was always the finest part of Steak ‘n Shake. Please bring back the wait staff with the paper hats. We miss them.

Also, the slippery floor is fun to walk on. We had a blast.

This is so sad. Steak and shake used to be a favorite, and we will not be back. First experience when you walk in is silence from the staff. The manager was up front cooking and didn’t even acknowledge we’d walked in looking confused. There are no menus and no one to take your order. Instead, self order kiosks. It took us a solid 10 minutes to order on our own because we didn’t know what we wanted to eat before we got there. It was painful.

Then, they print out the receipt and some bar codes. No direction at all. You apparently have to take your ticket to a scanner to unlock the pop machine. Be careful that you don’t accidentally scan it too many times because there is a limit. We had to go find someone else to fix it because it wouldn’t release the pop. It was so frustrating for everyone!

Cheese fries came out with cold cheese in cups. They don’t put cheese on top anymore, even though it shows it on the pictures on the kiosk. Corporate won’t let them do it anymore. They call your name, and you go up to get your food, then clean up after yourself, and the kiosk still asked for a tip when checking out.

The experience was pretty awful. The food was acceptability mediocre, to be expected, I guess, but the whole experience left me very sad. This is exactly why we have stayed away from corporate chains. It is a good reminder to support small.business where you are a person, not a dollar sign, and the people there actually care.

First time at Steak ‘n Shake, the double bacon burger was very tasty and still juicy. The string fries were good too, but too little on my plate. Was slightly disappointed on the milkshake, heard so much about it and it was too sweet, not made from real hard ice cream like I was expecting/hoping.

The interior was bit tired and could use some updating. Overall still love their tasty burger.

The kids and I have decided this our new favorite place to go when we eat out. Leave a sweet tip and you are certain to get your order perfect!

Payed for sauce that wasn’t even in my bag. I reached out and contacted them about it, hoping that they would make things right, they didn’t. Check your bags for the items you paid for people!I’m now down $1.50 after being charged $0.50 per sauce that I never received. If Steak ‘n Shake is going to charge customers for something like sauce they need to be making sure that they are actually giving it to the customers, they are not. I understand mistakes will happen from time to time but refusing to make it right or issue a refund for the missing items is just plain theft and bad business practice.

-So, thank you Stake ‘n Shake for stealing $1.50 my money! I will no longer be purchasing from you.

Not only the best S’nS ever but this was the best fast food we’ve had in years. Hot, crispy and properly seasoned fries, hot and well put together burgers. Plus the drive thru line moved super fast. The management and staff deserve a raise.

So sad to see all the personality taken out of a restaurant. We ordered shakes and they were fine, but we were sad to see that you don’t have any interaction with a server. So, so disappointed in the new model.
