Blinkers has been on my To Do list for several months now and my wife, son, and I finally found time to visit them. We were fortunate enough to grab a parking place on the property, most likely because are reservations were for 4:15. The inside was quaint and inviting, the service was excellent, but the food was a little bit of a mixed bag.

We ordered shrimp cocktail as an appetizer and they were on par with the sweet pink shrimp we routinely order from Alaska. The cocktail sauce was one of the best we’ve tasted.

My wife ordered a filet, my son ordered a NY strip, and I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. All three of us order the Parmesan risotto, a salad, and both steaks were topped off with bearnaise sauce on the side. We shared a bread pudding topped off with German chocolate icing.

The filet was seasoned and cooked to perfection and the bearnaise sauce was spot-on. The strip steak was seasoned well but needed 30 seconds or so more to be cooked perfectly. The Chilean Sea Bass had a nice finish to it but lacked proper seasoning and could have been cooked just a bit longer to properly cook the center of the fish. All three risottos were cooked but quickly replaced with a hot version once it was brought to our server’s attention. The Caesar salads lacked acid and salt in the dressing and the creamy Parmesan dressing on my son’s salad seemed to fall short on flavor. The bread pudding received three thumbs up. Not a perfect first experience. It enough positives to consider a return visit down the road.

We celebrated 2 birthdays on 2 separate occasions. The food was great. The atmosphere was also nice. Service was great Bo believe we had Melissa the first time and Rose the second. Both were great! The bartenders were also good as well as we have an adventurous daughter that likes recommendations direct from the bar staff. The steak from what I’ve heard was the best my husband has ever had and that speaks volume as we travel all over. They do have specials daily weekdays and the weekend.
Great time and great food!!
Things to note: if you are celebrating a birthday maybe call ahead to see about the special birthday dessert. The bread pudding desert that was their regular was great! The second time it was a peanut butter type and unfortunately my daughter has a peanut allergy. The cheesecake also has peanuts in the crust. They improvised and gave her berries and whip cream and she was happy. Not a deal breaker but just for awareness.

Also, Be mindful of sports events etc as there are several sports bars around and parking can get tricky on game days. They have a lot behind the restaurant but that can fill up pretty fast.

What a great steak! Was staying at a local hotel minutes away while traveling for work. Wanted a steak and it was late Sunday evening. Saw Blinkers open til 9pm on Sundays and had steak, which is what I felt like eating. Arrived and parked in their back parking lot. I didn’t make any reservations for my coworker and I beforehand. We walked in at 7:30pm and was seated with no wait times. I loved that the music was not loud. The atmosphere was great and our waitress was quick to ask for our drinks.
I had the Spicy Mango Margarita and it was delicious. Placed our food orders in. We both had the Sunday steak special: 10 oz New York strip steak. I had mine medium rare with a ceaser salad and mashed potatoes. My coworker had soup of the day and baked potato with his medium cooked steak.
The wait for the steaks was not long. When they came out, they looked amazing . Once I cut a piece and tried it, OMG! The steak was so flavorful. It was cooked exactly how I wanted it. There were areas on the outside that looked a little burnt but that was not the case. I think it was caramelized sugar or garlic, because those areas were even more flavorful, with a little crunch to them, while still being juicy. Needless to say, I enjoyed our dinner. Everything and everyone was friendly and very attentive. Will definitely return if I come back to Cincinnati / Newport area. Thank you for the great steak.

My sister and I are celebrating our 42nd bday in Covington and decided to stop in to Blinkers and sit at the bar. 10/10 to Sarah, the bartender, and the spicy margarita and suggestions on places to go! Also kudos to Matt, the executive chef, for preparing prefect crab cakes and truffle fries! They were great and started off our day on a high note!!!

Got the New York strip, loaded mashed potatoes, and soup of the day (chili). The mashed potatoes were yummy and I can tell they were homemade! And the chili was pretty good as well! But the steak was underwhelming for being the “best steak around”. It was cooked properly (medium) but still was tough. It seemed to be canned mushrooms they put on the steak which doesn’t scream high quality in a steak joint. I ordered a side of the lobster cream sauce to put on my steak and it was extremely liquidy, no thickness to it at all so kind of just ran off the steak. Also, my waitress brought out add ons on the steak I never ordered and when I brought it to her attention and let her know I’d still eat it and that no remake was necessary, but asked if I was going to be charged for those add ons, she assured me I wouldn’t be but once the bill came, I realized I was charged anyway. She wasn’t necessarily rude but wasn’t friendly either, I’m not sure she smiled once. Honestly for an 87$ bill for 2 people, Texas Roadhouse would have been cheaper and better quality

Fantastic place to eat! Come with friends or make it a date night. BEST steak in the area! This steak should seriously cost $100 but it doesn’t. Cheap prices compared to how amazing everything tastes.

I really wanted to love this place, especially since every staff member we interacted with—from the host to our waitress to the manager—was incredibly kind and attentive. Our waitress, in particular, provided excellent service.

However, the experience had some significant issues. We were first seated on the patio for our reservation. On a 46-degree night, we assumed this meant there would be heaters, but it was just an open-air table by a busy street. After a long wait, about half-way through our meal, the staff was accommodating and managed to move us inside once a table opened up.

The food, unfortunately, was the bigger disappointment. For a restaurant known for its steaks (12 years running?), my $43 ribeye was surprisingly average. It had decent flavor but was nothing I couldn’t make at home, and I’ve honestly had better at a chain like Longhorn. The mashed potatoes were similarly okay, but thin and unremarkable.

On the plus side, my wife’s shrimp diablo pasta was quite good, and our guests enjoyed their salmon, calling it a little above average.

Overall, the service was the highlight, but it couldn’t make up for the lackluster food. When spending this amount, I expect a meal that’s better than what I can cook myself. With so many other great options available at a similar price point, we probably won’t be back.

I had high hopes. I came here solo and got poutine, ny strip, Mac n cheese, house salad, brussel sprouts and an old fashioned. Got the steak medium. Everything was a lot more mid than I had hoped or read about. The poutine was cool. I liked the cheese curds and subtle spicy “gravy” on it. The brussel sprouts and Mac n cheese are MID! I can do much better at home, all of you can. The steak seemed oddly colored, like maybe it was frozen(??). Just not what I expected and came out a bit more mid rare (I anticipated this based on previous review I read). Overall, 3 stars, max on this visit. My strip was on special so prob $5 off but I wonder if it’s bc they have too much supply and just needed to off load em. Breakdown of price is in the photos so y’all know what’s up

Went Sunday night for the first time. Great food all around! The bone-in ribeye was top notch! Got it with the garlic butter on top and was as good or better compared with the best steak houses in the city. The mashed potato side was delicious. Definitely recommend!
