Great little spot with a wide variety of seafood, Cajun, etc, lots to choose from. I had flounder and shrimp basket while my husband had gumbo. Hushpuppies were the best I’ve ever had, coleslaw was very original and flavorful, not like most. Service was excellent, food brought out in a timely manner and delicious. It was such a beautiful day, we sat outdoors. We will definitely return.

Happy holidays everyone! Let’s DO THIS! This place came highly recommended and we’d been wanting to try it for awhile. As an escape from Thanksgiving leftovers we decided to go for it. Yes, my left overs are the bomb – believe it . Still variety is the spice of life.

Our destination was about 20 minutes outside of our residence, which wasn’t a crazy distance to drive. As soon as we pulled in the parking lot we noticed it wasn’t too busy and parking was a breeze. The restaurant was lit up in lights from the street which was nice because with it getting dark so early it let’s you know you’ve reached your destination.

Upon entering the establishment we were greeted and seated promptly. Our server, Jenna was very nice and helpful. She assisted us in picking out some menu items to try and welcomed us in for our first visit, which is ALWAYS a plus.

We ordered the Daily Double (Shrimp, Catfish, Alligator and Flounder), Gumbo and the Jalapeno Cornbread. It came out to the table fresh, hot and looking very appetizing. We also ordered a strawberry and regular Margarita.

I really enjoyed the meal. The fried items were battered nicely. They didn’t have a “heaping” amount of batter so the quality of the seafood could shine through. The Gumbo was very tasty as well. It wasn’t mine, but for a sit down dinner out – they did their thang! The drinks were good and refreshing. We were provided with plenty of sauces that complimented the meal very nicely.

The restaurant was clean, bathrooms were nice and the wait staff was attentive. The decor had an “ol’ skool” vibe and the music was not to loud and kept my feet tappin. The pricing was reasonable and I felt we got a good value for our money. The menu has variety and quite a bit off choices to offer everyone. It’s also kid friendly and accessible for those with special needs.

I will say I didn’t notice a lot of diversity in the patrons of the restaurant but we didn’t have any issues and everyone seemed pleasant. To be fair there weren’t a lot of people as it was the day after Thanksgiving. Just an observation of the evening.

I would definitely return again. Jenna was wonderful and if you get her take care of her and tell her we said “Hey girl HEY!”

Let’s wrap it up. So, if you’re in “The Fish Market” check this place out. I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised and your taste buds will thank ya! Have fun and enjoy! YW!

First time for me, it was great! Everything on the menu sounds good. I had the shrimp and Catfish basket with fries and hush puppies. We also tried the spicy gizzards. The gizzards were fresh and tender, not chewy and dry. Looking forward to trying some Gumbo next time.

First time here and we had combo Horn High Hugo with 4 proteins. Alligator/catfish/flounder and chicken tenders. Got potato salad and Cajun coleslaw. Also ordered red beans and rice. There was nothing I ate that I did not like.
Hailey was great and I guarantee we will be back.
Small and cozy. Appears to be a popular place.

1st time here. Love the restaurant feel. Was not busy so not much going on. (It was an odd time) Service was great. Food delicious and the coconut crème pie was out of this world.

I got the spicy gizzards and a house salad. The gizzards were the most tender I’ve had in ANY restaurant! I added more seasoning that was on the table and some hot sauce. The ranch dressing was delicious true ranch taste. I ordered a flounder basket for my dad and ate a piece it was delicious and well seasoned.

My server was very sweet and attentive.

We went on a warm fall night and sat outside. I had the red beans & rice, and it was very good, about as good as I’ve had in Louisiana (and cajun home cooked meals). Price was good, and would definitely go back. They were trying to get rid of some mums and had us take a pot home, that was pretty special!

Definitely recommend checking out if you’ve been on the fence, or looking for this type of place in KC.

Ordered fried shrimp and fried catfish basket today with okra, okra was raw inside, the rest okay. Wife ordered 1 piece of smoked catfish, no sides. Mine was reasonable, hers was delicious but cost $15 for a piece of fish! Waitress said that the price was right, I would have liked to of known that it was that high. New game show, “Price is Wrong”!
Been here many times, will not be back!

If you are after a good hole in the wall place off the beaten path, this was worth the trip! Looking forward to a return trip to try more items on the menu. They load you up on the protein combos, but a little skimpy on the sides. The sides are very unique so you are going to either love the new take or maybe not.
