La Casita delivers everything you want from a classic Southern Arizona Mexican restaurant—warm décor, authentic ambience, and some of the friendliest service you’ll find anywhere. I ordered a chicken taco and burrito, both looked great. The taco shell was warm and clearly freshly made, and while the tortillas weren’t the best I’ve ever had, they were solid, authentic Mexican style. The burrito’s chicken was a little dry, but still good—probably perfect with sour cream or guac.

Then the real magic happened: the waitress came over and offered dessert. I asked for her recommendation, and she told me she’d surprise me. She brought out a warm scone topped with cinnamon, sugar, and a drizzle of honey—and it was absolutely delicious. That dessert alone took this visit from a four-star experience to a full five stars

I do love this restaurant! Very nice atmosphere, decorations, music is quiet so we could talk. Friendly servers. Chip and salsa is brought complimentary to the table, th we y had dome salsa that was very hot like we like. Food comes to you fast and HOT. Portions are huge! I had the 4 mini chili’s meal but asked for all of them to be shredded beef instead of half chicken half beef. Comes out topped with Pico and lettuce or you can have a red sauce over it. I ordered no sour cream and guacamole on the side wonderful.my dad ordered Chimi Machacs with the red sauce on top. Giant portions. I recommend this restaurant completely.

We came for a late lunch on a Friday. We were seated very fast and the hostess was gracious and put us in a warm spot. It took about 10 minutes for someone to come to our table to get our order, but she was very friendly and returned with our drinks quickly.
The food however, is not so great. We started with a guacamole appetizer. The guacamole seemed like it was avocado that was squeezed out of a tube. It was missing garlic, salt, lime, tomatoes, cilantro, onions. It was literally just avocado paste. We had a few bites, but no one really ate it. That was a waste of $13.
I had the cheese enchilada and that was actually quite tasty. But the rice was old and dry and the beans seemed like they came out of a can. I also had a Carne Asada taco and the meat was tough.

My husband had some kind of beef quesadilla. It was very big and stuffed with meat. He said it was OK. We were impressed with the size of it.

If this was the only Mexican restaurant in town, I would probably eat here again just so I could have Mexican food. However, since it’s not, I doubt I will return.

I went in to give it a try based off by the reviews I read. The review I’m posting today is based on what I ordered. So I ordered the menudo and the steak tacos. Believe me I travel a lot and everywhere I go that’s the first thing I do look for menudo and tacos. Well this one here is by far the Worse menudo I have ever had. It’s just nasty at least to my experience with other locations. They claim it’s home made, more like canned Watered down, flavorless and didn’t even look like menudo. The presentation of the tacos was ok,The meat in the tacos same flavorless and really not Mexican looking nor tasting morelike Mexican wannabe American tacos … … Again I’m reviewing based on what I ordered,so if this was flavorless I can just imagine the rest will not be returning here ever!…

To order drinks you have to scan the QR code. No, they did not have a hard copy. You HAVE to bring your phone and scan. Not conducive to going out on a date and leaving phone at home. Great. Super romantic, let’s whip out our phones and squint to see what’s available.
Then when you do scan the drink code…no prices. Not one. We asked the server and she burst out laughing and said…”all the prices are different”. No kidding, really…? I guess we must be idiots to assume prices were the same across the board…no clue where she got the idea that we thought that but definitely condescending tone. She stomped off (thankfully) and had another person take care of us. Next server was pleasant. We bit the bullet so to speak and ordered drinks sans pricing. Well, 20$ per margarita. No shit! 20 bucks each for blended mix with a splash of tequila. Ridiculous. No WONDER theres no prices! Food was middle of the road typical cheap Mexican fare. Nothing fancy. Prices of food was fine. I wont be writing home about this place and I will definitely tell folks to steer clear. Put the gd prices on the drink menu for crying out loud. Its. Not. Hard.

I was brought here by my host for a lunch. Service was good, very welcoming. I was told this was one of the oldest restaurant here in SV. The interior decor does look like it needs a refresh. Food is not bad. The guacamole is fresh and tasty along with the tortilla chips. I ordered a battered fish taco, and I like the option that it can come without the rice/beans. They should come with a pair, but I guess it is more of a miscomm than anything.

We were in the area from San Diego and came here to try the local Mexican cuisine. It was delicious. We had chimichangas and enchiladas with beans and rice as sides. Everything was excellent. Large portions at a reasonable price. If we’re back in the area we will go back.

I usually measure a Mexican restaurant against two of the best Mexican meals I’ve ever had. La Casita is average: nothing horrible, nothing special. The restaurant business is very tough these days, but spending $50 for two people without drinks (a soda here will run you $4.50) means you have to be selective about where you dine out. The food here is really more MexAmerican than Mexican, as it’s rather bland. Again, not horrible, but there’s just nothing unique about it. The family owners will tell you they’ve been using family recipes for 37 years, but I have to believe that over 37 years those recipes have seen some modification as their costs and overhead have increased, and their suppliers have changed. Recipes are only as good as the ingredients you can get or afford. I think the average customer would be satisfied, but for me these days, I’d prefer to drop $50 on something more flavorful and unique. What we had at La Casita we can easily recreate at home for much less and add our own twist. I do applaud the owners for not charging an extra service fee to use a credit card.
EDIT: The owner correctly responds that some people will never be satisfied. It is also true that many people will always be satisfied with average. Some people know the difference.

My family and I dined at La Casita Mexican Restaurant & Cantina (465 E Fry Blvd, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635) on July 15, 2025, and it was a vibrant, enjoyable experience. The colorful decor stood out—silverware wrapped in bright napkins (red for me, blue for my husband, green for my son) and varied colorful plates added a festive touch. Traditional Mexican music created a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for a family meal.
We ordered beef fajitas, which were flavorful and well-prepared. My husband enjoyed his with rice and beans, while I opted for fries, as I’m not a fan of rice and beans. My son had tortilla chips and shared some of my fries. We all drank water, and the staff promptly refilled our glasses. The service was attentive, with a friendly waitress who checked on us regularly and thoughtfully warned me about a hot plate to avoid a burn.
One issue arose: my husband ordered pico de gallo to try, as the menu didn’t indicate it was included with the fajitas. When the food arrived, we discovered pico was already part of the dish, but we were still charged an extra $5. The waitress didn’t clarify this upfront, which was disappointing. Despite this, the food was delicious, and the prices were generally reasonable for the quality.
Overall, La Casita offered a lively atmosphere and tasty food, making for a pleasant family dining experience. I recommend it for authentic Mexican cuisine but suggest confirming menu inclusions to avoid unexpected charges. We look forward to returning for another meal.

La Casita is a wonderful spot for families, offering a warm, authentic Mexican atmosphere with friendly service and quiet music, perfect for conversation. The food is served hot and fast, with generous portions—our favorites were the chicken taco, burrito, and Chimi Machacs. Complimentary chips and salsa are a nice touch, and the dessert surprise with warm scones made the experience unforgettable.

Highly recommended for family meals or casual dining, and we would definitely return!
