I enjoyed a nicely balanced tuna poke bowl with a slight spicy kick. My wife’s wild mushroom and spinach sourdough pizza (which I helped her eat) was probably the best pizza we’ve had in years. The cook was ideal: a bit crunchy on the bottom with a soft and light top side. And the toppings made for a great combination.
The edamame dumpling appetizer was every bit as good as described in other reviews. And the flourless chocolate cake was a wonderful way to cap the meal.
The prices were quite reasonable and we were able to take advantage of a “two meals for $50” special,
This restaurant is highly recommended.
The other week, my partner and I came down together for my treatment and we ate at the Scottsdale location. First time in years I tried True Food Kitchen. It was EXCELLENT (Scottsdale Quarter location)
Food was perfect. We sat at the bar at lunch and each got appetizer and full entree and Kale Aid. Everyone was so attentive and friendly at that Scottsdale one.
It was so good in fact that is why I decided to patron this one today after the treatment and heading to Tempe area!!
(I had been to this Biltmore location years prior and remember loving it mostly.)
Unfortunately today missed the mark.
I ordered the Teryaki (Vegan) Bowl. It was soooo salty! I mean like licking an ocean floor. I felt so surprised since having a spectacular meal just last Thursday at the other one. I decided to send it back (very rare occurance for me) and the waitress behind the bar, whom I sent it back to, now got the second order incorrect and brought me something with mushrooms (which btw showed up in a blood allergy test as problematic for me.)
It admit that part was partly me not clarifying when I asked questions about that dish *but I did order/ say to her I wanted the one above that (butternut squash pizza). Mistakes happen I get that.
This came out finally after me waiting a long time and having to send two dishes back. I was so embarrased and it was also my time and energy.
Want to share, it seemed like BOTH waitresses behind the bar from the get go were caught up with trying to do so many things that they failed to check in with me (until the end and after the fact) even when the first dish was too salty, I had to track her down to tell someone.
Also, right off the bat, they just seemed detached from caring about how things were going for me. I talked to one waitress as she busily computing on the computer screen in front of her face- half way looking over at me. The brown haired girl was caught up and busy as well. And yet interesting that when a doctor came in (literally in scrubs) next to me, the brown haired girl was extremely friendly and attentive to him (perhaps a past customer?)
Anyway, I did talk to the manager and was trying to be calm and not visibly upset which I was getting.
*The manager on the other hand was VERY professional and attentive and I believe he did care and was to the point about tryin to make things “right” for me. I do appreciate that!
Both girls/ladies at the bar weren’t exactly “terrible”- just caught up and oblivious to their most important job… the customer! Other gals came by that got me a lemon in my water since the other two working at the bar were so busy.
I still gave 3 stars since the place has organic and that manager (with brown hair glasses and goatee for reference) was listening well and he also didn’t charge me for the returns.
Last but not least even the final product (the pizza with correct order) was not as yummy as last week 🙁
But yeah, hate to say it, but I will most likely only eat at that Scottsdale Quarter location now based on both service AND food taste!
Hope these reviews find corporate office and the wait and kitchen/cooking staff, so they can just reflect on what isn’t making it “all that” and why is Scottsdale so much tastier and friendlier? I personally do not know.
PS- I hopped on to post this review and had not even looked at reviews previously and interesting that just weeks ago someone had a similar experience as me comparing the two locations!
And same thing, they came back because they loved the experience at the other one and gave this one a shot.
I feel like I’m just experiencing food for the first time ever!
The lettuce combination of the Jicama, Amaranth, Apple, Raisins and Dates, Is an incredible journey with sweet/savory and chewy bites! It’s perfect!!
I bought it last night so I could have a nice salad for lunch. It’s not even 830 this morning, and I’ve already started in on it. It’s not gonna make it to lunch. I’m gonna eat all of it right now. That’s how good it is. It’s amazing. The salad dressing goes perfect with it.
What an incredible salad.
What really made our visit stand out was the service. The staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure we had a great experience. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations, and checked in on us at just the right times without ever making us feel rushed.
The food was amazing and came out quickly, and you could really tell everything was fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Every dish felt healthy but still full of flavor.
Overall, the combination of delicious food, a beautiful atmosphere, and exceptional service made this one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in the area. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this location to friends.
I dined alone and didn’t care for where they sat me-directly facing the entrance, but whatever.
Our waitress, Rae, was a delight to deal with. Six of us sat on the patio for a birthday dinner. She was knowledgeable about the menu and answered our questions. Some of us ate appetizers for our main, and she understood and had all the dishes served at once.
I enjoyed the edamame dumplings in broth and a bowl of butternut squash soup. Very creamy and delicious. I also appreciate that I could get a calorie count on the menu.
It was an excellent evening out on the covered patio enjoying our friends and the beautiful weather.
