The environment is pleasant and smells good like nice oak smoke. However the ribs were nasty. They say they smoke them, and they may, but it’s sure not 3.5hrs in smoke. I think they come out of a oven. They were extremely dry, covered in a ton of salt/seasoning. There’s no smoke flavor, the fat wasn’t rendered down, no smoke ring. Id be embarrassed if I was to serve this to friends and family, let alone to paying customers. Properly cooked ribs never turn out like these, granted I did put some bbq sauce on there as it was the only way I could eat what little I did. Wasted $33 on the ribs, the food my family got they didn’t care much for neither. A expensive lesson, follow my advice stay clear of this place. Btw the water is bad tasting like river water, get something out of a bottle instead if you do decide to go.

We have been here at least a half dozen times and it never disappoints. Would give it an extra star just for the smell…the minute you walk in you are hit with smokey BBQ smell. I think it is permanently imbedded in the walls . Has a dark authentic bluesy atmosphere. Food is great with large portions.

we came here on vacation and had an amazing time!! we started with the chicken nachos and then got the pork/chicken sandwich and the smash burger and they were AMAZING!! the real star of the show was our server Shelby who was so sweet, accommodating, and knew the menu well! she recommended I get my okra extra crispy and let me tell you SHE WAS RIGHT!! it was the best okra i’ve genuinely had in a long time! we will always remember this place and try to come back. THANK YOU SHELBY!!!

First review after.second visit. The atmosphere was casual, the service was excellent and the food was excellent. I didn’t post a photo as I am usually more interested in eating it, not doing a photo shoot. The rib meat was so tender, it really did fall off the bone. The catfish my husband ordered was the most tender catfish I have ever eaten! Highly recommend this restaurant.

I stopped in for the first time on a December Monday about 1 p.m. It was pretty quiet inside, only 3 or 4 patrons. I sat at the bar. The bartender informed me they were out of burnt ends, which I appreciated hearing that before I started looking at the menu. It’s a good practice to inform guests upfront, and not after they’ve spent time looking at the menu.
In my opinion The beer selection is okay, a bit heavy on IPAs and not much else.
I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and asked for a hot link or sausage link added-on top. They told me they couldn’t do that. I would need to order a plate of sausages if I wanted one on top of my sandwich. I didn’t want a whole plate of sausages; I couldn’t possibly eat that much nor did I want the expense. Seems a bit odd they couldn’t just charge me a few bucks for a piece of sausage on top of my sandwich, but if that’s their policy, now I know. It seems like a missed upsell opportunity though.
The sandwich came out pretty quick. I immediately noticed the bun was cold and so was the pork, not room temperature, but still had a chill to it.
I let the bartender know it was cold. He wasn’t really apologetic or anything, but did ask if I wanted him to take it back to heat up.
Leery of it just being microwaved, I just said no, I’ll eat it cold.
The flavors were good, the pork was tender, and the bun I could tell that if it had been toasted, it would’ve been good too.
The bartender was personable, but the staff didn’t seem well trained in hospitality.
I’m new to Gulfport, so there are many other places to try, but I would probably come back if I were in the area and craving barbecue. I would definitely ask upfront to make sure my sandwich is hot before they serve it.
Overall, I’d say three stars. Seems like they just need a bit of hospitality and guest interaction training and Maybe a better systems to ensure food quality.

The pulled pork sandwich was very good, especially with the sweet BBQ. Definitely wouldn’t mind coming back to eat here again. The waitress was also really great too and helpful. Always refilling our drinks as well.

Murky Waters BBQ in Gulfport hits all the right notes – smoky, savoury, and seriously satisfying.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a spacious dining area that never feels crowded. The outdoor patio is a great touch, perfect for relaxing with friends or family while enjoying some Southern sunshine.

The food? Absolutely on point. While the traditional BBQ would be a must-try, the smash burger was on point – juicy, flavourful, and cooked just right. Pair it with their creamy potato salad, and you’ve got comfort food done right.

Shoutout to Cade for the exceptional service – friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. It’s clear that the folks here take pride in what they do.

Highly recommend if you’re in the Gulfport area and craving authentic Southern BBQ with great vibes and even better food.

Just moved into the area. Tired, hungry, living on little sleep and basically camping until our belongings arrive. This restaurant was just what we needed. Friendly and helpful servers. The burnt ends were the best BBQ I’ve ever eaten. Potato salad that will make you do a jig and the fried Okra was seasoned to perfection.

Most of the time I cook my own brisket and BBQ because 99% of the time I’m disappointed with what i find in most BBQ restaurants. But I’m the eternal optimist and keep looking. (Also we were traveling).
I ordered the burnt ends, baked beans and a serving of mac & cheese.
The burnt ends were perfect. Plenty of fat, not dry at all, and crisped just right. The meat was tender and flavorful. The beans were also good.
The sweet tea was done right.
Overall, I really enjoyed the meal and will definitely come back the next time we visit the coast.

I had the burnt ends and they were delicious. My husband had the brisket that he enjoyed as well. The resturant was clean and our waitress Shelby provided great service. Over all we had a wonderful experience and will return anytime we’re in Gulfport.
