This is a newly opened a very regional restaurant that serves a typical meal from a specific region in one of the southern states of India namely Karnataka and further narrowing down to northern. Karnataka so begin with it makes you feel nostalgic about the food being far away from home.

The restaurant is on a bustling street in Milpitas and draws crowd that intends to enjoy this cuisine especially the jowar flat breakfast and stuffed eggplant. Which also reflects in the name of the place. Rotti Ennegai.
The restaurant offers a good spread of options for food choices but the highlight in the Bijapur Thali that comes with Jowar flat bread stuffed eggplant curry and a very regional sweet dessert which is made of over night soaked wheat and slow cooked with organic sweetener and select spices and nuts.

Now let’s move on to the food.
The rotti is well made soft and served hot. The ennagai is also very good but the quantity served is way tooo little to eat up with 2 pieces of rotti.
The dal is not at all good, the thali also comes with a bowl of white rice and the best thing about this rice is that there is NO baking soda unlike other Indian restaurants which is amazing, a bit disappointed with the sambar for rice, because traditionally there is no concept of sambar in north Karnataka it’s always dal stew. Which is different from sambar in terms flavour and taste.

So over all a pleasant experience if you are from this region you can kinda feel the connect.

Excellent place for authentic Karnataka flavors!
Tried gobi manchurian, masala puri, and masala dosa—everything tasted delicious. The ambience was lovely, and the hospitality was great. Highly recommend and definitely a must-try. Definitely coming back to try more dishes.

Stumbled upon this place when we were looking for masala puri. True to what they say, food tastes exactly like bengaluru darshinis. We tried Masala Puri, Gobi manchurian, Mysore masala dose, Jowar rotti. All 10/10. Excellent taste and reminded us of home Pure nostalgia will definitely be visiting this place again.

Great food and very friendly staff! New restaurant in the city with delicious Indian food. Went on a Sunday afternoon, and we were seated right away. Had their Bijapur Thali, which provided us of a great sampler of curries and tastes. Excited to come back again.

Food is outstanding. Benne masala dose transported me back to Bangalore. Excellent jolad (jowar) roti and gobi manchurian, girmit is a nice simple option as well. Please give this establishment a visit!

I’ve visited Rotti Ennegai twice since it opened. During the soft launch, I tried the North Karnataka thali and it was good and satisfying. On my next visit, I tried the filter coffee, which didn’t taste great, and the girmit, which was a bit dry. However, the mirchi bajji was excellent. Overall, a mixed experience, but some dishes really stand out

If you’re looking to experience authentic North Karnataka cuisine, Rotti Engai is an absolute must-visit. The restaurant truly captures the rustic flavors and traditional cooking style of the region, making every dish feel homely and satisfying.

Their jowar rotti curry is exceptional — soft, fresh, and perfectly paired with rich, flavorful aubergine and lentil curries that have just the right balance of spices. It’s a dish that stands out for its authenticity and taste. The goli bajji is equally impressive — crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and incredibly addictive.

What I loved most is how the food feels both wholesome and flavorful, without being overly heavy. The quality, taste, and authenticity make Rotti Engai a standout spot for anyone craving traditional North Karnataka food.

Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates simple, delicious, and authentic regional cuisine.
