Wow…I love BBQ of all kinds. I smoke meat regularly myself and I have pretty high standards for what I consider really good BBQ. With that being said, this place is excellent! The menu is solid and gives you many options. The food itself including their sauces, were top notch! We are visiting from AL and I literally just looked at my wife and told her, “we can eat here every day we’re here as far as I’m concerned! Lol

Service was great, food was good as well. Hush puppies with the honey butter was AMAZING. I got the two meat plate with two sides. Meats were pretty good, my only complaint was that my brisket wasn’t that hot. Potato salad was good and Mac n cheese was good as well.

This is some of the best barbecue in the area! They have so many different sauces to try, and the sides are amazing! This time I got the hush puppies and the mac & cheese, and both were delicious! If you were in the area, you need to try it out! The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is warm!

Disappointing BBQ Experience
We were excited to try The Pedalin’ Pig during our visit to Banner Elk, as it’s a well-known spot for barbecue. Unfortunately, our meal fell short of expectations.
The food arrived warm at best, not hot, which made it feel like it had been sitting out for a while. The meats lacked bold flavor—everything tasted bland and underwhelming, with nothing particularly special or standout about the preparation or seasoning. We ordered a meat platter expecting the usual BBQ accompaniments, but there was no bread (like buns, cornbread, or rolls) served with it, which felt like a missed basic for a barbecue restaurant.
The sides were average, and while the service was friendly, the overall quality didn’t match the hype or prices. We left wishing we’d chosen elsewhere. Might be worth trying on a different day, but this visit was a letdown for us.

Just ok. The brisket was dry but the crust was good and the pulled pork had very little taste without bbq sauce. The okra was good and my husband really like the chicken wings although the hothouse sauce tastes just like the smokehouse sauce.

Go literally anywhere else for BBQ… my husband said he’d rather eat the spare tire off the car than this dried out brisket.. everything tasted like it had been sitting around for a couple days (& I believe that’s accurate since our food came out in <2 min).
The best item was the cinnamon butter for the hushpuppies, which also looked like it had sat out a day or two.

Our dinner was so delicious. Jolly was a great server and checked up on us constantly. Our food was hot and served to us pretty fast. She told us all about the different sauces that they offer. I got the chopped brisket grilled cheese and mac, the best thing ever!

Best BBQ I’ve ever had! No exaggeration, we came twice during our ski trip. I dont think we had anything we didn’t like, ordered the sampler plate and it feed my family of 4. Baked beans were a hit, fried okra was great as well. Staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating! I bought a T-shirt just so I’d remember it for next time!

The Pedalin’ Pig is worth a stop when on the Boone area. We found it on the way to Boone NC, and were pleased with the results. The portions are generous, plenty of side dish selections, good quality meats and ribs, great service, prices are good. The chili was also very tasty. The only strong recommendation I have, is the condition of the restrooms. Definitely need to work on that. Anyway, my score is 4.7.
