Went to First Watch for brunch with a few friends around 1 PM on Friday. Parking was a bit of a challenge due to the limited spaces, but once we got inside, everything went smoothly. We were greeted right away and seated within moments.
Our server was extremely friendly and honestly one of the better servers we’ve had in a while. He recommended one of the new seasonal items-the chimichurri steak and eggs hash-which we decided to try. It was reasonably priced and very flavorful. I do wish there had been a few more pieces of steak, but overall it was filling and something | probably wouldn’t have ordered without the recommendation.
Our food came out hot, fresh, and in a timely manner. Aside from the parking, everything about the experience was positive.

You know for the area I don’t think you could really beat this spot. We had we had the avocado omelette, the lemon ricotta, pancakes, and the seasonal double bacon Parmesan hash. I thought all the items were good, in fact, probably better than a lot of the other places that I’ve tried in the area.
I think the best thing that we got was definitely the double bacon Parmesan hash it was salted a little bit on the heavier side, but it actually won’t all the other items. I really liked the little bacon mix that added savory into the entire dish. Combine with the potatoes, egg and arugula, it actually balanced out decently well. I did not expect this quality from a chain restaurant and this was my first time trying first watch and I was not disappointed at all.
Tell them ricotta pancakes were good, but I think the lemon cream was a little bit of the sweeter side so if you have a sweet too, if you definitely would like it I didn’t really taste the ricotta inside the pancake, although it was nice how they actually infused it into the pancake rather than just sprinkling it on top. I was actually trying to get the cinnamon pancakes that were seasonal, but unfortunately, they ran out of the cinnamon chip pancakes, so I had to get these, but it wasn’t that bad. The lemon was tart but honestly more sweet than tar depend depends on your preference. I like it a little more tartar but if you like sweet stuff, you definitely will like it.
Lastly, the Bacon avocado omelette was not bad. It actually was lack a little bit of flavor in the omelette itself, and the toast on the side was basic toast. I didn’t really expect too much. It was kind of plain multigrain bread with just a little bit of butter. The potatoes, though were actually quite nice. I really liked how one side was fried while the rest was soft and had a soft crunch. I never had a hash like that but now that I tasted it, I don’t think I prefer hash in any other way. I’d rather have it this way than completely fried or shredded and it gives a little bit of variety in soft or crunchy textures.
Service was definitely great. The waiter checked on us very often sometimes too often but I rather have that than the other way around that was very good. It was definitely crowded even though we came on a Monday. Can’t imagine this place in the weekends. I’m sure you’ll be booked so maybe if you can make a reservation I would highly recommend it or arriving early to get a seat before you are able to dine in.
The honey caramel latte was definitely on the sweeter side so if you don’t like sweeter drinks definitely get the regular iced coffee. I found that to be also a little bit on the sweeter side as well so maybe ask for less sugar if you like your coffee really really unsweet.

I ordered delivery through doordash. On my first order the driver sent a confirmation picture of my food on the ground and opened. I contacted doordash and canceled the order so I could reorder with a new driver. After that I called the location and let them know what happened and asked if they could either make sure the driver takes the confirmation picture at the front or take extra precautions to ensure my bag is sealed. The guy on the phone was dismissive and said “we’ll do our best”. As you can see the restaurant did nothing different to help avoid another issue even though i did what i could on my end through doordash and expressed that to the manager who answered the phone.
I stopped eating at first watch for a while because of issues with this location and williamsburg. Recently I tried a first watch location in va Beach and they were so sweet and customer service top tier I thought I could start eating here again consistently. The answer is no as you obviously dont care about customers past who you deal with in-person and if that’s the case then stop offering delivery through third party apps, it doesn’t completely absolve you of responsibility or customer service.
In opening the food, the turkey sausage is cold to the touch, there are 2 syrups for the French toast but no mixed berry compote and the eggs are scrambled instead of over hard, it doesnt even look like this was 4 eggs that i paid for and its not how i asked nor eat eggs. I literally ordered over hard eggs at the va beach location and few days ago it did not look like what is pictured. This location does not care. This was a waste of money and disappointing that I cant enjoy favorite chain restaurant in my area but have better experiences 45 minutes away or in other states this is absolutely ridiculous

I got the 2 for you: Monterey club and chicken avocado salad and a honey caramel crunch. Everything was very good on my end.
My husband got the farmhouse hash skillet and the purple haze drink. He said his drink was amazing! Same with mine. I just wasn’t very hungry. My plate was still quite a bit of food though. The half sandwich was super thick! I ended up taking the salad home. I’ll try something with egg next time.

Wonderful! Although the restaurant was rather busy, the service and food were stellar! Our server was personable and knowledgeable. He took our party’s order with ease and explained any questions about the dishes.

Tyler, our server, was amazing. Food was delicious! Their tangerine dream was the best! I love their juice bar drinks. The purple drink with lavender and lemon was also amazing! Their Chile Chorizo omelet was just the best I’ve tasted!

Our server Katelyn was very respectful and attentive. We got our food quickly. The chile chorizo omelette was good – could’ve used more chorizo. The million dollar potatoes were not that great… maybe better if the potatoes had been fresh. The French toast was yummy, and the coffee was nice and strong.

I’ve been coming to First Watch in Hampton and Newport News for a few months now. Every visit has been a tastier visit. Pancakes fluffy eggs good. Million dollar Bacon has a great spicy kick. Drinks were great. Specifically, today i visited Newport News and I ordered Biscuits and Gravy with scrambled eggs and cheese grits for myself. Ricotta pancakes million dollar bacon and cheese eggs for my son. When I picked up my order and headed down the road, I discovered my gravy was missing. I called and informed the manager and he ensured a remake of my meal. After completing my errands, I arrived later in the day and my meal was ready. Significantly, the manager also made a presence to greet me and apologize for the inconvenience and offered me gift card. Yes I will return as always. I thank you for your service. You’re welcome for mine.

Lillian was an excellent server! She waited on us when no one else would 30 minutes before closing. We had to ask the hostess for assistance after waiting and Lilian stepped up before the hostess could find someone. Lillian was pleasant, sociable and efficient. I will ask for her when I return to First Watch. Desiree the manager was plant and very helpful. What a great team!
