We visited AJ’s Chicken for the first time with our family and had a great experience. The food was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and the menu had great options for everyone. The highlight for our kids was the free ice cream at the end—they were so excited about their cones that they finished all their food quickly! Everything was enjoyable, and the overall experience was excellent. We will definitely be going back again.

We ordered from Irving for pickup and ate at home. It took 38 minutes to get there and 35 minutes back. We really wanted to try this place.
The good:
I genuinely love this place; it has pretty dang good food.
1. We started the night with stuffed jalapeños and ranch on the way home. Delicious.
2. We also drank our Oreo milkshakes, which are perfect for everything; light, airy, and not leaving you feeling stuffed and weighed down.
3. Once settled we started with the tenders. Wonderful flavoring, level 2 is not too spicy, perfect for anyone. The level 4 hits a bit more but still taste like something and not straight heat.
4. The fries were still good and not soggy while having that crunch.
5. The burger made was actually melt in your mouth and not dry. we did ask for ketchup, mustard and lettuce on it, which they fulfilled.
6. The chicken sandwich was a level 4 spice and was even bigger and better than I thought it was going to be. So good with the ranch and AJ’s sauce added.
7. The cheesecakes were okay.
The bad:
1. The stuffed jalapeños were small, or there just isn’t enough for the price in my opinion, at least drop 6 in it and not 5.
2. We ordered two 3-piece tenders and only received 2-piece tenders. Which is only upsetting due to the price difference of the baskets, I felt cheated after a 2-way 1.25-hour drive.
3. The sandwich was ordered with no coleslaw… we ended up with coleslaw. I did not want mayo on it and while it was good, I still genuinely did not want coleslaw on it.
4. The caramel cheesecake has nuts in it, which was not shown on their Toast site while ordering. I had to give it to someone else due to allergy. I also find them absolutely not worth the price due to the size of the slice which is incredibly small for near $6. I can tell they’re likely a pre-made and pre-cut cheesecake but please let people know that for allergy reasons.
Overall, I would say half of my money was worth it and the other half was not. Which is kind of upsetting after spending over $100 in one trip. I still want my two missing tenders!
The people were very nice and tried to help me when I had so much in my hands.
I will likely come back but I want my two extra tenders.
I didn’t get photos of everything, but will try to next time.

AJ’s is easily one of the best chicken spots around! The sandwiches are big, crispy, and packed with flavor, all held together by soft, fresh buns. The fries are golden, seasoned just right, and pair perfectly with their addictive dipping sauce. Everything came out hot and fresh, and I really appreciated how clean and well-kept the place was. I tried AJ’s for the first time today and was extremely impressed. We were a big group, so we got to try most of their menu. They’re already well known for their chicken sandwiches, so those were definitely authentic, better even than some places I’ve tried in Nashville! For a place specializing hot chicken, they have the best beef burgers in DFW!
What makes everything so good was without a doubt their secret sauce! AJ’s definitely doesn’t cut any corners on quality or portion sizes. Everything was generously served to accommodate our group too. We appreciated how helpful and patient the staff were. The food looks even better served than it does in photos, they were that good.
We will obviously make this a permanent lunch spot for our meetings whenever we’re in Richardson! Thank you again, AJ’s!
