I was in town for Thanksgiving and was thrilled to see that they were open. I ordered from the hot bar and got collards, Mac and cheese, tofu, mashed potatoes, cabbage, and fried seitan. Everything was delicious. The restaurant is cute and the staff was very friendly. I can’t wait to go back.

Not on the menu but on the secret menu is the protein tidbits(breaded tofu) you have to try them!!! Literally taste like vegan chicken I order them every single time I go. You do have to wait for them to make them in the back but it is sooo worth it. They’re that good!!
The Mac and cheese was good definitely has a different consistency than “regular” Mac and cheese but for being vegan it smacks!

Ordered a Combo Basket and I’ve ordered from them before many times but have never seen anything like this in my food. I looked at multiple photos with a.i. description to hope that it was a type of crispy vegetable but every time it said something else. I will NEVER be ordering from this place again. Eat at your own risk or be surprised and utterly disgusted like me.

The service and food were both excellent, and it’s clear why this place is considered an essential vegan/vegetarian soul food spot in Chicago. Whether you’re fully vegan, vegetarian, or an omnivore just curious to try something new, you’ll absolutely love it here. The staff were warm, patient, and incredibly helpful, walking me through the process and making sure I felt comfortable every step of the way. It really felt like they cared about creating an exceptional experience for everyone.

I haven’t been here in years because I had a memory of a smaller restaurant. Their remodel is amazing. Spacious, bright, great food options, signage for menu easy to read, food displayed looked good. I loved this place. I ordered rice, beans, cabbage, spaghetti and had a berry berry smoothie. Loved that the smoothie is blended as you order it and it’s not loaded down with sugar. Everything looked good but I couldn’t get it all in 1 trip. I have to go back. I think you’ll enjoy your visit there as well.

This place has been a great option for black vegans. However, the service and food is not consistent. I live on the north side of the city and would drive to the south side for this place. However, they have probably lost a customer forever, as my last visit here was the last straw for me. Upon entering the restaurant at 1:30pm, I noticed that they were out of some of the buffet food items and some of the few dishes that they had available were down to the last corner of the pan. I should have known then not to order anything but again, I drove from the north side of the city to have food from here so I figured “may as well”. My food was terrible. Completely inedible. The cabbage was very undercooked for what seemed to be “braised” cabbage. It was full of oil and flavorless. The entire meal was flavorless. The mac and cheese had so much oil that I couldn’t taste anything but. After two bites, my stomach was very upset because all I was eating was oil. The dressing was dried out and overpowering of an aromatic. The black eye peas were flavorless as well, all missing the basic salt seasoning. I don’t think I will ever be back here again. It is a hit or miss for a decent meal here.

My son purchased 2 large plates from the hot bar on10/16/2025-4:48 PM the food on both plates was VERY GREASY!! I was very disappointed! TRASHED both plates after photos was taken $58.00 totally WASTED!

A vegan haven full of options . The owner was so nice and took the time to explain what everything was. So many options and everything was good. My personal favorite was the dressings, kale salad, bean stew, curry salad. There are probably some items missing because i got a little of alot of things on the buffet. I’ll be back for sure for dinner and dessert next time.
