Very sad to leave this review. I love Capt Loui from Madison Al to Duluth, Ga but Duluth location really disappointed me this past Tuesday. After an hour commute, me and my partner arrived around 8:30pm and was told it was a 20-25 min waitlist for parties of 2. We were the 3rd party of 2 on the list. It is now 9pm and I was told that last call is 9:20. 3 tables are open that were open from the time we arrived, not including the 2 large community tables upfront. I ask at 9pm why can we not be seated at the empty booth pictured and was told that only parties of 3 or more can sit there but we are next once this black family in the first photo get up from a 4 top table. (make it make sense especially at the end of the night and other empty tables) – This was beyond rude and unacceptable. I have worked as a server and in the hospitality industry for many years & felt like our business wasn’t appreciated. We spent $92 to be treated like this. Lindsey was great but still. Jason normally serves us when we visit this location. Hope he and other management have a talk with their staff.

When we want to eat seafood boil, we come here. It was recommended by my drinking buddy. So, I’ve been here at least four or five times this year. Always great service from the servers and great quality. Most of the time, we have leftovers since it’s so much good. We both love the Korean style flare and it’s great with ice cold beer. My favorite is the garlic bread and noodles. Gotta try it!

Food here is great. I brought my daughter and my nephew we came on a Saturday night it was busy but we did not have to wait for a table. We each got a special A: 2lbs of meats and one side it was more than enough for us. You pay more than usual places but the crab is so tender and juicy. Love this place and the waiters all attentive and friendly we had Keon as a server he was friendly and helpful.

The food is awesome, a little salty for my liking but I’ve always enjoyed the food here. I look forward for the funnel fries with ice cream every time I come, a must! The last time I visited, I was disappointed that the sausage was thinly sliced instead of chunks.

Jinny is the perfect server. She pays such close attention to detail, makes us feel very comfortable and cared for as customers. It wasn’t extremely busy when I was there, but she was still watching a couple tables including mine. Even then she always made sure to check up, brought things we asked for really fast, and never forgot anything. Food just tastes better with good service. And hers was amazing.

Heard about this place and finally got to try it—absolutely amazing! We had the snow crab, shrimp, green mussels, crawfish, corn, potatoes, eggs, and be sure to add the garlic noodles to mix in at the end—it’s a must! Most importantly, our server JINNY was awesome! She kept a lovely smile throughout, and her joy really made the experience even more special. Everything about our visit was wonderful!

Came here for lunch in a Saturday and it was excellent! We mixed and matched a few seafood types – the snow crab, shrimp, and the “ugly crab” special. All of the prices are clearly listed so there are no surprises, and they are surprisingly fair.

The crab itself was great quality – they “crack” open instead of bending, so you know they’re not low quality frozen and steamed.

Jenni was a wonderful server, she suggested flavor & spice combinations and was on top of the gloves and napkins (we’re messy eaters).

My original review about this incident was from 4 weeks ago. I had, through a keying error, left this review on a Capt Loui in Alabama. A total mistake as I have never been there. I am correcting that error tonight. To be clear, this happened at the Capt Loui on Satellite Blvd in Duluth, GA, 4 weeks ago:

4 weeks ago: I stopped by Cap’t Loui yesterday afternoon for a take out shrimp poboy. When I got home and opened the bag the roll was BURNED BLACK on one side. (SEE PHOTOS BELOW – Somebody in that kitchen knows they sent that out to a customer.) Whoever put that poboy in the container had to know that it was burned yet they decided it was OK to give to a customer. (This mirrors the horrible soft (misnomer) crabs I got a few months back. Take out in the afternoon when the restaurant is very slow. You can see my review on those.) All I can guess is that there’s zero quality control for take out or they think nothing will happen since the customer will already be gone before they see the poor quality food. The manager probably goes out between lunch and dinner and the employees just don’t care. OR… is it my race? Am I being consciously discriminated against? I cannot in good conscience recommend Cap’t Loui anymore. I’m giving one star because there’s no option for zero.

Today: To complicate things, the manager of the AL location responded to come by and they would remake the same order for me as a goodwill gesture. Absolutely good business practice! So today I went to the Duluth, GA location and pulled up the Gmail regarding remaking the order. I did not realize at that time that I had posted the review on the wrong location. The Duluth manager noticed it. Rather than listen to what I was saying the manager declared that I did not get the sandwich in his establishment. I told him I had eaten there several times, that it’s near my house and is the ONLY Capt Loui I have ever visited. His approach then was that I couldn’t prove it. Well, no, I couldn’t. I bought a sandwich, paid cash and told them to trash the receipt. I was not expecting the problem I discovered when I got home and opened up the container. Good business would have been to hear me out, be courteous and replace the sandwich rather than being confrontational and treating me like a scammer. Since my first meal there I have built a network of friends that I take to Capt Loui for their shrimp. That business goes away as of this afternoon. Personal recommendations/detractions are very powerful. Just as word of mouth can build a business it can also erode it.

4 months ago, a different bad meal: I love, love the shrimp at Capt. Loui so I thought the fried soft shell crabs would also be delicious. I tried them today and was totally disappointed. They were overcooked to the point that I thought they must’ve been double fried. It was mostly a basket of just crisps. Even the claw and the back fin, the two most succulent bites on a blue crab, were nothing but crunchy crumbs. I was so let down.
