My wife and I really enjoy Black Eyed Sally’s Southern Kitchen and Bar. The prices are very fair and the brisket is absolutely fantastic, tender, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The live music is a huge plus and adds a great energy to the place, making it a fun and welcoming spot to spend an evening. Service has always been friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the overall experience is consistently excellent. We always leave happy and look forward to coming back again.

It does get BUSY during the live music events so get there early!!!

We had an incredible experience here. Alicia, our server, took great care of us! They have a gluten-free menu with lots of options. The food was top notch! Good music too!

This place was outstanding! Nice decor, friendly service and outstanding food all for very reasonable pricing. You can taste the love in every bite! Brisket was super tender. Mac and cheese the peak of comfort food… like a hug from the south! Highly recommended if you are in the area. Just a 6 min hop from the convention center and parking available across the street in a paid lot. Can’t wait to try something new next time.

Being from the south, my honey and I have had this place on our list for a while. We finally got to stop in for lunch, hoping to find authentic southern cooking.

We started out with the okra and pickles. These are fried and fried pretty well. They are served with a sauce that tastes like a fancy Big Mac sauce, tasty. The downside of this appetizer is the okra. I’m not sure where they got the idea of frying okra whole was the way it’s done, but they missed the mark. The pickles were great.

For our meals, I had the southern fried chicken. It was fried well and quite tasty. The collard greens were off, a lot. Granted, I’m more of a turnip greens kind of guy, but these were bad. The Mac and cheese tasted and felt like a boxed cheese.

My honey had the jambalaya. It was quite good, several large shrimp and plenty of sausage. It was well seasoned.

Because I had to, I tried the gumbo. I’m going to tell you, this was the star of the show. I’ve had a lot of gumbo in Louisiana, and this was by far the best I’ve had. A bit of good ole Crystal hot sauce, and this dish was perfect. Next time, I’m just getting a bowl of gumbo.

The corn bread was good. My honey loved it, I thought it was okay. It’s a very sweet cornbread, so if that’s not your thing, you’ll be in the same boat as I.

The atmosphere is amazing. We will be back when they have live music, I can see being a fun place so spend an evening.

If you need a recommendation on where to eat in Hartford, CT, I’m sending you to Black Eyed Sally’s. Everything I’ve ever had there is amazing. The biggest downside is you often have to pay for parking.

Sally’s Pig Out: pulled pork, ribs, sausage, cheddar grits, red beans & rice, cornbread (I had to grab it to go, just picture it all perfectly plated )

WOW!
My Tongue was in Heaven!

This Polished (but not too much that it loses its Rawness) Joint is the HOPE Diamond.

Easily Worth the 4.5 hour drive!

Just walking up to this establishment, you automatically get cooler. The outdoor signage and storefront are visual delight.

You walk a little slower there’s so much to see, it reminds me of my backyard.

The Vibe, The Visual, The Smell, The Audio, The Choices, The Taste, The Flavor, The ambience, All the Spidey senses are tingling even before you walk in the door. The Friendly Staff, The Essence of The Blues is NAILED!

See y’all Soon!

Love the Soul plus RnB atnosphere. Nice photos on the wall, lovely music in the background snd the service was good.

I liked the menu selection, and the food would have been really tasty if it was fresh and not so dry. I was disappointed with the BBQ chicken and the Ribs. They were definitely not fresh but tasted stale.

The sweet potatoe fries, corn bread, and rice and black beans were nice, though.

Happy Father’s Day ! My son Zak and I had our first visit today but not our last. As soon as you walk in the smell tells you it’s going to be awesome. The decor and atmosphere is wonderful. I had a Hurricane and it was delicious. We started with the fall off the bone BBQ chicken wings and moist corn bread with honey butter. My son had the pulled pork platter and I had the pork rib, brisket, chicken platter. Both came with a mountain of delicious rice and beans and coleslaw. We saved room for dessert and we both ordered the chocolate brownie mousse cake which was to die for. I also went home with a huge amount of delicious leftovers that I will be enjoying later. We will definitely be back because there are so many more delicious items on the menu I need to try. Also the staff and service was great ! Thank you Ava.

We’ve stopped twice in the past month with no complaints whatsoever. The greens are on point and the corn bread is bomb. This time we got the jambalaya and the pig out, my personal fave, with plenty to take home for another meal.

Well I’ll be d8mned. This was the BEST food I’ve ever had in CT and that’s saying a lot. Best BBQ too. Didn’t care for the brisket, but the ribs (and I hate ribs) and pulled pork were to die for. Don’t even get me started on the sides! No velveeta Mac here, this is the real deal. Everything is seasoned and on POINT. The cocktails are marvelous as well. Run, don’t walk to eat here.
