Great dining experience overall. The staff Thanh were extremely friendly and attentive, which made the whole meal very comfortable and enjoyable.

The rice field crab hot pot was delicious — the broth was light yet full of natural crab sweetness, and all the ingredients tasted very fresh. It’s the kind of hot pot you can enjoy without feeling heavy.

We also really loved the durian Thai sweet soup for dessert. It was creamy, fragrant, and not overly sweet — a perfect way to finish the meal.

Would definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys clean, flavorful hot pot and unique desserts.

This Vietnamese restaurant positions itself not just as a pho spot, but as a specialty crab restaurant, which immediately sets certain expectations. We ordered a range of dishes to get a good sense of the menu: crab spring rolls (both the traditional long style and the thicker square-style ones), grilled pork neck, chicken wings, fried shrimp cake, and beef on dried vermicelli.

The flavors were generally fine. The spring rolls and chicken wings were nicely crispy and enjoyable, and the fried shrimp cake had good texture. However, the grilled pork neck was dry and quite chewy, making it a disappointing dish, especially considering the price point.

And that leads to the biggest issue: portion sizes were relatively small while the prices were noticeably high. For the cost, the food simply didn’t deliver the level of satisfaction one would expect.

On the positive side, the restaurant itself is new, spotless, and well-decorated. Even the dishes and tableware feel high-end, which shows they’ve invested in creating a modern dining atmosphere. Unfortunately, attractive bowls and plates can’t compensate for the fact that the meal felt overpriced and not particularly memorable.

Overall, while the environment is appealing, the value for money wasn’t there, and it’s not a place we would rush back to unless significant improvements are made to the food quality or pricing.

Clean, cozy, tablets for ordering with pictures. Everything tasted great to me. The crab noodles had a beautiful crab flavour, not too heavy, not too light. The square spring rolls, though expensive are worth it. Perfect touch of crab flavour. The seafood fried rice is so so. It is unique but not my preference. The squid in the rice is quite dry.

The squid cake was impressively made with plenty of real squid, and you could really taste that firm, springy texture in every bite. I had high expectations for the crab cake, but it turned out to be a bit disappointing since there was barely any noticeable crab flavor. The fish cake was also just average and didn’t leave much of an impression. The iPad ordering system was quite confusing and seemed poorly managed, which made the service feel disorganized. The overall interior looks old and outdated, and the dated décor does take away from the dining experience.

Very tasty: crab meat noodle soup, fried chicken wings, square crab spring rolls, and the bo la lot.

We were full at the end so couldn’t try desserts. Will definitely come back for this and try the desserts.

A friend heard about this award winning restaurant. The crab roll was rich and delicious. The soup base tasted sweet even before adding the crab seasoning and it went along with the red rice noodles and the rest of the ingredients.

Crab Hot Lau is a wonderful spot for family-oriented northern Vietnamese cuisine. The atmosphere feels welcoming and homey, making it the perfect place to share a meal with loved ones. The food was absolutely amazing—every dish was full of authentic flavor and comforting in the best way. All of the soups in particular stood out, tasting as if they were made at home with love and care.

If you’re looking for authentic northern Vietnamese food that feels both traditional and heartfelt, Crab Hot Lau is the place to go.

Interesting Viet noodles. I’ve never had such types before. Nonetheless, food we tried were very tasty, just different style. Portion size at the price is decent but not huge. Place felt clean and neat.

Crab Hot Lau brings authentic Vietnamese flavors to life with their famous hotpot dishes. It’s usually crowded, showing just how popular it is. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, adding to the good vibes. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but totally worth it for the taste and experience. Definitely worth checking out!

We had an amazing time celebrating our dear friend’s birthday. We are a noisy group of 13 people with 5 kids. Pretty noisy of course, and we had a wonderful time. Since our group is unusually large, we had a couple of the round tables combined to seat everyone. The waitresses are so thoughtful and accommodating to our chaos. My Thanh and others are so helpful and they keep track of our needs so well!

The crab hotpot and the papaya salad is my personal favourite, then my kids had the usual pho and Bun Bo Hue which are delectable and authentic. It is my first time having a crab hotpot (but I have had a lot Vietnamese and general South Asian cuisines) – and the flavor is amazing. Definitely one of my favorite kind of hotpot from now on! (I am a noodle guy and that special kind of thick noodle made from some kind of yam is that perfect for that kind of flavorful crab soup.

Then we had a cake ready and not only are they willing to help serve the cake – they made an extra cheesecake with a syrup writing “Happy Birthday” on the side. They switch the TV’s sound to a happy birthday song to at the perfect timing… Incredible service and because we went at a lunch time (so not so busy), we truly feel like home!
