If you’re looking for a top-tier Korean BBQ experience in Mid-Wilshire, Genwa continues to set the bar high. The location is sleek, comfortable, and perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. Parking can be a little tight in the area, but once you’re inside, you’ll forget all about it.
The service here is consistently excellent — attentive, friendly, and quick to help with the grill or refill anything you need. Genwa is known for its incredible banchan spread, and this location doesn’t disappoint. You get a huge variety of side dishes, all fresh, flavorful, and constantly replenished. It’s honestly one of the best parts of the meal.
The meats are top quality — tender, well-marinated, and rich in flavor. The galbi is a standout, and the wagyu options are worth the splurge if you’re feeling indulgent. Everything cooks beautifully, and you can really taste the premium quality.
Yes, it’s on the pricier side compared to more casual K-BBQ spots, but for the level of service, quality, and overall experience, it feels justified. Whether you’re bringing friends who are new to Korean BBQ or you’re a longtime fan, Genwa Mid-Wilshire never disappoints.

This is now our overall favorite Korean restaurant. Beef kalbi was very tender and flavorful. The mackerel lunch special was a very generous portion – and it was the tastiest mackerel that I’ve had in years.

Parking inside the building (entrance on Mansfield) is free during the day on weekdays.

This place. I hate to admit that it is good. The food is good. The banchan is good. It’s just insultingly expensive and I’m afraid to say that as good as it is, it is not worth the money. For 2 people, we split one of the 2 people sets, a bottle of soju, corn cheese and a dessert. We each paid $150. It was just mind boggling, especially for not all you can. The corn cheese was great but small, and it was $20. The dessert was the most insulting. It was literally a choco pie with some mid ice cream at $15. Again, the food is at least better than average quality. But yeah, avoid – go to K town, get something equitable for less.

Genwa on Wilshire is a standout among LA’s many Korean BBQ options. I went for lunch, which was blissfully calm—no crowds, no wait—just clean, attentive service and incredibly good food. The marinated beef (bulgogi) was rich with flavor, tender, and cooked perfectly. It’s the kind of dish that reminds you why this cuisine is so satisfying: savory, slightly sweet, and deeply umami.

What really sets Genwa apart is the sheer number and quality of the banchan (side dishes). They bring out an entire constellation of little plates—each one distinct, fresh, and beautifully prepared. This isn’t an afterthought here, it’s a central part of the experience. Kimchi, pickled radish, sautéed spinach, seasoned bean sprouts—each one held its own.

I’ve heard dinner gets packed, and I believe it—this place clearly draws a crowd. But if you can swing a weekday lunch, it’s a hidden pocket of calm with five-star food. Whether you’re a KBBQ veteran or new to the format, Genwa delivers across the board.

I have been coming here for as long as I can remember and it’s my children’s childhood favorite. They have a clean atmosphere, fresh and quality food, an abundance of side dishes, and wonderful staff here. They have multiple locations but this one is my favorite. They definitely deliver on great customer service and it’s my 1st suggestion if anyone asks for my recommendation for the best Korean BBQ.

We came here for Christmas!
Various side dishes for free!
Three of us ordered a A courses which usually for 2. However, we were still really full!
High quality of meats! We also ordered a steamed egg, highly recommended!
We had two cocktails, both of them were low % alcohol! I am guessing less than 3%….But this is only thing I can complain of.
Services was fine. A little bit rush in the beginning. (They put half of our meat in once.) Maybe that’s Korean style? Since we are not Korean, not sure this is normal or not.
For parking, they only have valet parking. You may find spots on the street. We found the one is free after 11 am.
Still, like other comments, pricey but meats and small dishes might be worth for celebrating any special day!

We have been here many times and it is always a fun experience. It is amazing to be here, enjoy their food and their creations. The meat quality is outstanding the service is super polite and helpful and every single time we try something new and we are always impressed. This is not this usual all you can eat garbage. This is high quality food with high quality ingredients. You have to plan to wait to be seated if you don’t have a reservation. Very highly recommended.

I’m going to give 10 reasons to come here.
1. Non smoky non stinky clothes. Amazing vent system for Korean BBQ so you can walk away without the smell that is embedded in every inch of your clothes, hair, and the black lining inside of your finger nails.
2. The most number of side dishes, with unlimited refills. No place in South Korea, Seoul or USA that I know of that gives you this many side dishes.
3. They cook for you. I’m too lazy to cook at home… why do I want to cook in a restaurant where I’m paying to go to… to eat?
4. Bragging rights because of #2. Novel experience. Impressive picture.
5. Delicious, freshly made, and best quality.
6. Variety of the side dishes. It’s like a tasting menu for Korean side dishes.
7. The best services always! I’ve been here probably over 50 times within the last 5 years.
8. Great group place. If there’s at least 2 of you, then this is it. The more the merrier sort of place. Because you can just spend time tasting the 25 something side dishes and just talk about them and an hour pass by.
9. The wait staff are like models. I don’t know where they get them but like… The men are like kpop stars and the females… Yeah… I’m drooling… Because of the side dishes of course!
10. I can’t count. Jk. The overall experience is amazing. The best Korean BBQ place overall. I’ve been to both locations.
