Went to this (cash only) local bar across from my hotel. It’s full of old drunks at any time of day, and can get rowdy in the evening. The bartender was polite but inattentive to those not a local regular. I’m sure the locals love it, but it’s not a tourist bar. Look elsewhere for your vacation buzz needs!

Was told to avoid the Mecca bar at all costs. This is a local spot that some locals love. Walked in and saw locals enjoying drinks with a mellow atmosphere.

It truly is the heart of the city in every sense. A very friendly barmaid and Nicky, who kindly let us use her Wi-Fi and shared excellent tourist tips. You’ll find a diverse mix of customers coming here to enjoy a warm moment, with both the barmaid and Nicky always welcoming, and attentive also to some customers in need.

Photo attached is from the summer of 1982. The place has staying power!! We had a good time there drinking and chatting with the locals. Not necessarily a cheerful place at the time, but had a very strong sense of place and lots of character… and characters!

I visited Fairbanks around a month ago. This was one of the spots locals recommended I try. It was definitely a dive bar, but super cool bartender, and friendly patrons who frequent it. I had a blast, met cool people and the prices are not too hard on the pocket. I’ll be back in Fairbanks, and will visit this bar again.

Definitely a local favorite. Sit down, don’t start trouble. Stay out of conversation between cousins. Be nice. Ring the bell. You’ll make friends immediately. Bartenders are friendly and helpful if you’re a tourist. They operate on a case by case and day by day relationship with regulars. Interesting people. The guy playing drums on the bar is Wes. He might talk your ear off but he knows a lot about the songs on the jukebox. Download the TouchTunes app and you can sit there and be the DJ without having to stand at the jukebox.

Wow, went here because it was right across the street from my hotel. It redefines dive bar down. Full of drunk locals and no redeeming qualities. Bartender was nice, that’s about the only good thing I could say. Had to leave without finishing my drink when a local was literally having a druken mental breakdown.

We were skeptical about entering this place, but we are so glad we did. Devin was a delight. Definitely hold on to him. There are a few Employees that love their job as much as he does. He is definitely an asset to your business

Alright, it might not be the cleanest or friendliest place ever but ended up going here twice during our 5 day stay. It has a dive bar feel, the locals might sho you away, and stuff might get rowdy and go down there. So why give it 5 stars? Because it’s the local culture, our group went with the intentions to see and talk to locals. Some were friendly, some weren’t. But it was all in good fun. Don’t go there with the thought you’re finding a family friendly watering hole, it’s not that kind of place. Have a beer, play a song on the jukebox and live in the moment
