The wait was pretty long but incredibly worth it! The food was fantastic and really great prices! The hostess and manager apologized multiple times.

My friend had a lot of great things to say about Tavern in the Square, but my experience was pretty underwhelming. The atmosphere was nice and the view was beautiful. We sat at the bar, and while the bartender was fine, he gave off that “bartender who hates you for no reason” vibe.

I ordered a fall sangria and couldn’t even drink it. Definitely not for me, and I didn’t mention it because I could tell he already wasn’t thrilled I was there. For dinner, I got the NY strip steak. I’m a big steak girl, and while it was cooked perfectly, it had no flavor. A little salt goes a long way! The green beans were underdone, and the fries came out cold. For $40, I left wishing I had gone to Texas Roadhouse instead.

My friend tried the General Tso’s chicken and said it was dry and way too spicy. On the plus side, the ranch dip appetizer was good, but it came with literally two carrot sticks and two celery sticks, which felt like more of a garnish. The chips however, were pretty good.

All in all, the view was great, but it didn’t make up for the mid-level food and lackluster service.

Great food, even better vibes. Came here during the Christmas market was a really fun time and great spot to catch Saturday night football with a bunch of screens. For food we snacked on the pretzels and got the buffalo cauliflower. Both were very tasty and will have us coming back for more soon! If there are only 2 of you and it’s a long wait definitely check the bar upstairs it has plenty of seating

We went to Tavern during Tuscan village fall festival. It was rainy and we were looking for a place to eat. We ordered tacos, burger and warm goat cheese with bread. Everything was good. This is our second time at Tavern and we like the views and ambience. A lot of people, even we were there earlier, around noon. The only thing – they don’t have changing table in bathroom on second floor.

We recently tried this place for the first time with our family and, unfortunately, it just wasn’t for us. A few of us ordered the Korean chicken sandwich, and after one bite, I knew it wasn’t something I enjoyed. The other two people who ordered the same didn’t like it neither. My daughter had the chicken club, which she found pretty plain and lacking flavor. My sons ordered the Tavern burgers, and while they were okay, they weren’t anything special.

The one standout for us was the sweet potato fries — those were really good. I also want to mention that our waiter was very sweet and did a great job. The service was excellent.

Overall, while the staff was wonderful, the food just didn’t meet our expectations

Alex, our server, was awesome during Sunday brunch. Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich, order a side of ham and add it in, it takes it to the next level! Thank me later. We’ll definitely be back for brunch before Pats games. Great/fair prices too!

The food was great and so wasn’t the pricing. For atmosphere the only reason for 4 stars is it is very loud. Hard to talk to people at your table. Quick service!

I stopped in for dinner on Saturday 12/20/25. I used to visit this location frequently and always opt to sit at the rooftop bar. Unfortunately, the experience has declined significantly.

Starting with service: guests now wait 20 minutes or more only to receive oddly tasting cocktails. While it was nice not being charged for the drinks, I would much rather pay for a properly made cocktail than be served something of questionable quality. The bartenders now, disappear after you find a seat or seem unsure how to assist guests even with simple requests, questions, etc.

Moving on to the food: in past visits, the food was always appetizing, fresh, and cooked to proper safety standards. Now, the food matches the service—subpar at best. My chicken was severely undercooked and inedible. Although the rest of my meal was fine, I strongly recommend skipping the food entirely. If you choose to visit, your best option is to go to the first floor for a drink and dine at one of the surrounding restaurants instead.

As a disclaimer, this is strictly my honest review of the Salem location. I have had no prior issues at other Tavern in the Square locations. My experience may not have been the same as others and I’d like to remind everyone my opinion is not the only one out there. Best of luck to the Tavern in the Square Salem.

We gathered to celebrate my niece’s 25th birthday, and our server, Ash, truly made the occasion special. She was not only friendly and fun but also incredibly attentive, enhancing our overall dining experience. The appetizers we selected were a highlight, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Our main courses were equally delicious, and the drinks we ordered perfectly complemented our meal. Ash’s warm and attentive service created a cozy and inviting atmosphere that made the celebration even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!!!

I absolutely love Tavern in the Square. I’m not sure what it is about the space, but the atmosphere is such a vibe every time I go. The giant bar right in the center of the first floor really sets the tone — it’s lively, energetic, and just a great place to hang out.

The food never disappoints. I usually go with a few apps and a burger, and it always hits the spot. The drinks are great too, whether you’re grabbing a casual beer or something a little more crafted. The place is always bumpin’, which just adds to the overall experience.

I also recently found out they take reservations, which is a game-changer considering how popular it is. Definitely one of my go-to spots in Salem!

The food is good, very well prepared, and the portions are generous. The food also came out quickly, which was excellent.

My only observation is that I saw the servers wrapping the silverware without wearing gloves
