First: The attitude. From the moment you walk into the door, you are shocked with the careless ugly attitude from the people operating the line. They don’t greet you. They don’t smile. They don’t show any interest in you as they take your order. Just horrible attitude overall.
Second: The food. no taste, no flavor what so ever. Their so called chicken shawarma does not have the slightest resemblance to shawarma. It’s a guie liquidy sort of grilled chicken in a bowl, not cooked on a vertical skewer like shawarma is supposed to be. If these people think their customers have never been to a shawarma place before, they need to rethink this because it’s BAD for business; extremely disappointing!
Third: The service. They way they assemble the wrap is disgusting! I wouldn’t serve it to a dog like that! They don’t bother to drain the chicken from the liquid it’s soaked in before putting it on the pita bread (which is actually more like nan, not pita), and that makes the bread saggy and the whole wrap unmanageable. They do the same thing with the salad and tomatoes and everything else that they put on there; everything is dripping with liquid. I had to use a dozen napkins to dry the liquid dripping from my wrap, and eventually had to request a bowl because by then it was totally out of control. I was unable to hold it to take a bite. What were they thinking?! The images below are after I used a whole bunch of napkins to clean up, threw away the original wrapping, and put it in a bowl instead.
Fourth: They don’t give you a receipt! Seriously! I know some places ask if you want a receipt, but these guys don’t even ask! I tried to grab the receipt, and she snatched it from the printer and tossed it in the trash. I was with some people from work and I didn’t feel like making a scene over the receipt, but I was frustrated because they didn’t even ask if I want it or not. It seemed like they really didn’t want me to see it, which sounds fishy! What is it that they don’t want me to see? Did they add gratuity without asking me? what? I see someone else here commented on that as well!
Fifth: Cleanliness. I wonder if they ever wipe these tables! We sat at table and it was so sticky and disgusting to the point that I had to spread a bunch of napkins under my food to avoid contact with the table! Probably another customer had a saggy wrap like mine before and no one wiped the table after they left!
All in all, Google should have a zero star option because some restaurants don’t even deserve one star.
I definitely don’t recommend this place to anyone! Spend your hard earned money somewhere else where you will be appreciated and treated like a customer.
The service was even worse. I was charged for a third scoop of rice because the first two weren’t even full, and told there was an extra charge for a fourth dressing, something I’ve never experienced at other CAVA locations. To top it off, the falafel was burnt; when I asked for fresh ones, I was told it would be a 20-minute wait. I ended up paying $11.35 for a bowl that wasn’t even half full. The complimentary pita was also so stinky.Save your money and go to a different location.
Ordered through DoorDash.
My order came with no proper cover on the bowl which I’m SURE violates health ordinances for transporting food….
They covered it with wax paper…
the receipt and the bowl received are not matching., no attempt to contact me to say that they were out of anything. The portion was small, the rice wasn’t well prepared and the steak was dry…. The whole bowl is dry!!!
I attempted to eat but started to gag honestly. The texture was rough, and because it was mostly pickled items, there was nothing to make it flavorful.
I’ll order from a different Cava next time and compare but I paid too much to be stiffed on portion size and ingredients (it’s like ordering a cheeseburger and all you got was the bun instead.
I’m reporting this location to the BBB and City of Decatur health department today and yes I will take it that far. Stop playing with people.
