Stuffed Bell Peppers: delicious.
Green beans: yummy.
Red Beans& Rice: classic.
Pork Chops: super thin and tasty.
Cajun Rice: ok.
Ice Tea: weak.
Service: not bad, never could tell which of the five (or was it six?) folks service the whole time was the actual waiter for the table.

I am highly disappointed in this place. I went here on my lunch break yesterday for Fat Tuesday and was shocked at how horrible the food has changed. First time back in over 15 years. Not sure if new management or what but food is not of the same quality as before and the service was worse.

I ordered the boiled shrimp and crawfish. The shrimp were good and a nice size but the crawfish tasted frozen (you can tell the difference) and they were the smallest I’ve ever seen. Cooked them too long so when tried to peel them they just fell apart.

I also ordered the pasta with blackened chicken and shrimp. I never complain about the cost of food but 22.00 but watered down sauce, hard uncooked noodles, and only 3 pre frozen shrimp.

And to top it off. I was the ONLY person dining in at that time and the wait was ridiculous. Man brought check and just disappeared. I had to ask the busboy how do I pay and he was nice enough to take my card and receipt to the man to cash me out since the man never came back.

I’ll never return. Use to be great food, now gone down the drain.

Haven’t been in a while. It’s definitely lost some quality but what else is new? So many restaurants have been forced into compromising their quality due to inflation/rising prices for everyone all over. Their prices are still pretty decent so that tells me they don’t want to up their prices too much to run off customers so in my mind that means lower quality on some items. They gotta balance it somehow. I get it. The Boudin in a Blanket was an interesting concoction. I think it’s worth your try. Chicken fried chicken was good. The fried fish was decent. Interestingly enough definitely more flavorful than pappadeaux cause their catfish is bland every time I get it. Have to douse it in hot sauce and tartar but it was pretty good here before adding all that. Black eyed peas were delish. Red beans and rice were ok. My main complaints were the #1 French fries. Oddly cooked. Outside texture was strange , almost seemed like they weren’t fresh even though they were hot but the inside was undercooked on some. #2 The jalapeño cornbread was a total let down. Didn’t seem fresh. Wasn’t soft, wasn’t sweet at all! I asked for honey to kind of sweeten it some, that oddly made it worse. #3 The okra should’ve been fried longer.

I relocated to the area and drove by resturant trying to find food. I remembered how good the food was and raved to my daughter about it. We wanted something good to eat before having to weather the coming winter storm and decided to order. Drove in the rain and spent $40 knowing it would be worth it. I was truly disappointed. The “mashed” sweet potatoes was interesting. The cabbage has no seasoning. The chicken fried steak had more fried than steak and the meat was chewy and under seasoned. The fried pork chops was decent. Black eye peas was decent. I tried doctoring the food to no success. The beignets was such a let down. Oh well. I gave the meat to the dogs. They ate it.

Had lunch at Po Melvins and really enjoyed it. I had chicken and dumplings which came with 3 sides. So much food! I chose tossed salad, fried okra and green beans, all were really good. The waiter was very good but can’t remember his name and didn’t take pictures of my food.

Really enjoyed the drinks. The roast beef is amazing. The wings were awesome, although they are little, they are really tasty and I will definitely order two orders next time. They are delicious and have a nice crisp to them. Haven’t been to this place since I was in college and so glad I came back to try it again. The hurricane is really good, and the Yo Mama drink was awesome.

Delicious and great atmosphere! The music was up beat and very eclectic.
We enjoyed it! Gonzalo was the server and he was fantastic. He was kind, efficient, responsive and the service was quick.
We ordered the Bayou Balls, as an appetizer. I ordered the pot roast w/mashed potatoes, blacked eye peas and yams. My daughter got Chicken & Dumplins, cabbage, m.p. and okra and my hubby got Buffalo chicken strips, fries, corn and Cajun rice. It was delicious!! Everything had great flavor, was seasoned well and was overall great! The cabbage didn’t have much flavor but the rest was on point. The jalapeño cheddar cornbread was just perfect! The peach cobbler was so friggin good! I enjoyed ever single bite!!
Overall, a very good experience. I will def be back and def recommend.

We met up with family to treat mom for Mother’s Day. Mom had the Chicken Fried Steak, unfortunately it was a tough cut of meat. It was not good at all. I had the stuffed peppers. That was edible, but it was one pepper butterflied with the filling sitting on top of the pepper. So it wasn’t actually a stuffed pepper. The sides weren’t good to me either. I also noticed an odd smell as I sat there. It could have been from cleaning products, not pleasant at all when dining. Other than that, we were with family, that was nice. Unfortunately, it’s a no for me. I will not be returning to this restaurant again.

This was probably the best fried pork chop that I have ever had. Service was great. The atmosphere is lacking. The darkl interior and worn furniture take away from the overall appeal.
