Stopped in at Chelino’s on NW Expressway and was pleasantly surprised. The ground-beef burrito was rich, well-seasoned, and genuinely satisfying, and the fried jalapeños packed just the right kick.

The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty, the portions generous, and the atmosphere relaxed and comfortable—perfect for a casual night out.

Delicious food, hearty portions, and an inviting vibe make Chelino’s an easy five-star stop for great Mexican cuisine.

Ps…the sopapillas were also great and fresh even at closing!

I’ve eaten at this Chelino’s location (6509 NW Expressway, OKC) several times, and every visit has been consistently excellent. The service is always friendly and attentive, and the food never disappoints. Their chips, salsa, and cheese dip are absolutely delicious — in fact, I’d say they have one of the best tomato salsas in Oklahoma City. It’s packed with flavor and perfectly balanced without being overly salty.

I’ve tried a variety of dishes from their breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, and I’ve always walked away satisfied. On my most recent visit, I noticed they’ve updated their menu (see photo), and I tried the Pollo a la Diabla. I was blown away by how generous the portion of chicken breast was, and the flavor was amazing — spicy, bold, and just right. The Borracho beans were a great touch too, with smoky bacon and sausage that added depth you just don’t get from regular pinto beans. And don’t get me started on the rice — it’s so homemade and comforting, it reminded me of my mom’s cooking. Their fresh flour tortillas are also a standout.

Chelino’s has a great selection of beers and margaritas, though I personally stick with their refreshing, unsweetened iced tea. Whether you’re looking for a hearty meal or a place to relax with friends and family, this spot delivers every time.

It’s also worth noting that Chelino’s is a proud local business with several locations throughout OKC. Some are run directly by Chelino himself and others by family members. I’ve had the privilege of meeting Chelino — a kind, charismatic, and faith-filled man who’s been a staple in the community since the 1980s. Supporting this business means supporting a legacy of hospitality, tradition, and heart.

If you’re looking for amazing Mexican food and genuine hospitality, don’t miss this Chelino’s — especially the one on Northwest Expressway. It’s hands-down my favorite location!

10/5 Stars! Hidden Gem!
I honestly can’t believe this place wasn’t packed full of people, it’s such a hidden gem! We were immediately greeted and seated right when we walked in. The service was outstanding from the start they took our drink order right away, and we tried the margarita flight, which was incredible. You can tell the bartender really knows what they’re doing.

The chips and salsa were fresh and flavorful, and to our surprise, they also serve complimentary queso and warm tortillas, that’s practically unheard of these days! Every staff member we interacted with was so friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious.

Please, do yourself a favor and come here, they truly deserve the business. This is the kind of restaurant you want to see thrive!

I hadn’t eaten at this restaurant in years. I wanted authentic Mexican food so I stopped in to grab food for me and my hubby. I ordered the chicken enchiladas. They were terrible. Im so sorry to say. They were dry with only dry chicken inside. They ere the driest enchiladas Ive ever had. We did not enjoy our meal and won’t be back. The food thing is that the customer service was great and everyone was very friendly. I was so disappointed. I wanted good authentic Mexican food.

This place reminds me of Tucson, family-run restaurant out of the back of the house. Food definitely feels like home cooking. Portions are HUGE. Took home half my plate and it’s another meal lol

We went to Chileno‘s today. Been busy my mother-in-law at the hospital. I ordered fajitas. My husband ordered cheese enchiladas we was treated rude. The food was cold. Everybody was rude. We will never be back. I give their quality of food.a 0! Chalino is rolling over in his grave by how bad this restaurant was

We’ve been eating at this restaurant for at least the past 10 years. I like that they give everyone their own queso and salsa. My favorite is the Chicken fajita Chimichanga. However, this time I tried their Shrimp tacos and I must say they were good. My husband had their Chicken fajita tacos al carbón plate and they were huge. Didn’t come with lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole or sour cream. So if you like those ingredients in your tacos you must ask for them. Otherwise they still were good. My daughter got the Barreda taco plate. They were ok, except she said they were too cheesy and greasy. My BIL had the quesadillas plate and said they were good. Overall this restaurant is really good and large to accommodate crowds. If you’ve never had so papilla’s, I highly recommend them for dessert.

Great food! Nice size portions! Friendly and accommodating staff. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because there were a lot of um…”fuzz bunnies” in the a/c vents. Would not have enjoyed them falling into my food.
