Love the live music and friendly staff here. The food is classic, flavorful and hearty. A great place to warm up on a cold day, or to grab a pint with friends. Highly recommend!

Great bar in the heart of David square with two music areas, one being a dedicated back room. The food was solid, won’t blow your mind but is satisfying and the prices are fair. Service was attentive. Outdoor seating is nice if the weather cooperates and importantly is on the sidewalk- not the street. Different bands are playing here nightly. I’ll be back!

Thank you!

We went here to see a friend’s band play. Cool venue for live music and to get some classic Irish Pub fare. I had the shepherd’s pie which was excellent, my wife had a burger which was really good, my brother had a chicken sandwich also good and there are vegetarian options too. My brother’s wife had the sweet potato chickpea burger and she said it was good. We saw the band in the back room, and when we were leaving there was a band playing in the front room. Prices were very reasonable and we wish we lived closer to see more bands and enjoy some good food and pints with friends and family.

The Burren in Somerville offers outstanding value and truly welcoming service. From the moment you walk in, you’re met with genuine hospitality and a cozy, traditional pub vibe. The food is hearty and well-priced, with favorites like shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash, and Guinness beef stew served in generous portions. It’s a place where you can enjoy a full meal and a pint without breaking the bank.

What really sets The Burren apart is its live music and warm, lively atmosphere. Nearly every night features excellent performances—whether it’s traditional Irish folk in the front or full shows in the back room. The space has an old-world charm with wood accents and a relaxed, inviting feel. Whether you’re dropping in for a casual drink or planning a night out with friends, The Burren delivers every time.

Very mid experience. Service was inattentive, nice when she was there but only checked on us twice. Put in our order wrong and were served Veg version of our meal not the meat version. And – this may seem like a small thing – when I asked if they had Diet Coke, she said yes but it was Diet Pepsi (I know, you’re probably eye rolling, but I’m native to the South so it’s important to me and I’d rather have water). She never refilled our drinks even after I asked for water. I also noticed that the couple next to us waited for their check after asking for it for 30 minutes. Plus when our check arrived, it wasn’t itemized so we couldn’t confirm if she charged us for the Meat or meatless meal.

Onto the food. The fries were cold and the fish was overfried, but fine. And the pie was just fine. Nothing to complain about but nothing to write home about either. Worth the prices they list, minus the freshness.

The vibes were super cool though, so if you’re going, I’d say just go for a drink and snacks, not a meal. And sit at the bar for better service.

The Burren is a Local Landmark in Davis Square – it is a Classic old school Traditional Pub, with undeniable charm and a distinctively Irish atmosphere. Pictures adorn the walls, and their Bar , and Bartenders Greet you as soon as you step foot inside.
The food is surprisingly tasty also, with both UK favorites and some surprising choices in the Menu that cater to the Davis Square Crowd……
They pour an absolutely Perfect Pint of Guinness at the Burren, which you can enjoy either at Lunch, or later in the day when the Local Musicians stop in to play music in the front snug by the window. If you haven’t been in a while, do stop in- it will be like coming home to an old friend’s home !

They have the best live music events, and just are a great restaurant all around ! The employees are so chill, and the food options are plentiful! Goes above and beyond bar food. We had the burren platter, as well as brunch another day. Delicious drinks in addition to beer!

Our first stop in Boston! It’s dark, lots of posters & old. The food was great, we all enjoyed it. I had the Sheppards pie & was so full afterward. There was a great selection of drinks, with their own specialties.

Festive place to grab a drink or see a show. Lots of memorabilia and interesting pieces to check out.

We saw The Jive Aces in the Back Room. The UK-based swing band—Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists in 2012–put on a rollicking show.

We ordered pizza just before the show started, and it was great.

Highly recommended!
