Flushing food crawl stop! Our group got the fresh shrimp rice roll, and there were soooo many people waiting with only a few (I think there were 2) people cooking that it took a good 30 minutes to receive ours. The general consensus was that while the shrimp was fresh and plump, the rice rolls were not as great– they were still chewy but slightly mushy/grainy, and I’ve had ones with better consistency to know this is not ideal. I don’t think it’s really worth waiting so long, so I’ll probably try somewhere else next time.

Joe’s Steamed Rice Rolls now has a new location inside the food court at New World Mall in Flushing. The rolls are made fresh to order and come with several free topping options to customize your order. The rice rolls are slightly thicker than most, giving them a chewy texture that makes them really satisfying. The chili hot sauce is optional but adds a great kick of flavor that balances perfectly with the soft rice rolls. Overall, this spot is a solid choice for a quick, fresh, and authentic snack in the mall.

I love Joe’s and always stop by when I’m in Flushing. The rice rolls are so tender and fresh, and unlike any premade ones you will find. They also have a really yummy chili-oil… always add sauce! Perfect for a solo diner as there is minimal seating. But if you’re in a group you can take things to go and grab a table at any neighboring food court. The shrimp rice roll is my fave.

When I walked into this place, I felt like I stepped into Asia. It reminded me so much of the older cramped food courts you can find in certain parts of Asia. The line was long for this place and they make the steamed rolls fresh. We ordered the shrimp rice roll in the large size (it doesn’t come in the small size) and added three types of vegetables that is included in the price ($8). If you want to add an egg, it’s $1 extra. The soy milk was $3, and they only have the sweetened version. They have some seating for eat-in guests.
We bought it for takeout and it was piping hot and super fresh. Our aunt really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend visiting!

Very popular and busy spot (even on weekdays) for rice rolls but definitely worth the hype and wait in my opinion. They offer several speciality rolls (the Joe’s Special and Meat Lover ones are great), all of which cost around $10 and contain several fillings thus more flavor overall. I personally think their rice rolls are also very tasty on their own, almost nostalgic even. As mentioned, this place is busy so expect to wait in line to order, then wait 10-20 mins for your order to be ready, and possibly have order for takeout if there are no seats available. Last few notes: the cashier here speaks English well so no need to worry about ordering awkwardness. To-go orders are bagged and include both soy sauce and chili oil cups, but make sure to grab forks if needed (dine in orders are served on plates and you’ll pour the sauces yourself). Lastly, I wouldn’t recommend the $3 cold soy milk because it’s very watered down, at least it was for me

This place is overrated. It’s the Flushing location.
The space is so small. They have the first shop location in this small food court/hall, so they attract all the customers. The vendors in the back are so bored that they’re on their phones. There is limited counter seating, and when people walk past you, it’s easy to get bumped. It’s not a comfortable eating situation for a big group for sure.
I got the soy milk, and it was good.
They have condiments, like soy sauce and chili sauce.
No bathroom.

Pretty soft and chewy! Great texture, and you can choose what additional toppings you want in it
– Shrimp rice roll: 9/10, flavorful and good amount of shrimp
*Note: Wanna get the signature next time

The rice rolls are freshly made to order, and the staff are incredibly friendly and full of positive energy. I wouldn’t really recommend the ones with hot dog/processed ham inside — the plain shrimp or beef options taste much better.

Maybe I had my expectations too high, but I thought that this place was alright. Now, a stall in the New World mall, this rice roll stand offers a variety of your favorite breakfast dish—rice rolls! They’re made-to-order and you can also add a bunch of different toppings to your rice roll (on top of the three free veggie choices that you get upon ordering).
I got their specialty rice roll, which includes dried shrimp, beef, and a couple other toppings. I thought that it was okay. Although it was filling and had generous portions of the meat, I thought that the rice sheets were a bit thicker than I would typically like. Nonetheless, it was still a good rice roll spot, but just a bit overhyped.
