Yummy diner food. Good at accommodating vegetarian requests. Lots of sweet options and lots of protein options, if you eat eggs or meat. Fun atmosphere. Cute bears everywhere. Family friendly, except the whole restaurant is surrounded by adorable stuffed animals and toys for sale. Be forewarned if you’re coming with kids who will want things.

Great food, great place! Very clean love all the decor. They also have bear souvenirs and tee shirts to buy. Service was good. Recommend for families because it’s pretty cheap and worth it amazing food!

Clean and attractive restaurant with friendly and attentive service. The value is excellent. Not a fan of the hash browns that look like linguine, but hash, eggs and toast were tasty.

To Whom It May Concern,

My mom and I recently visited black bare establishment for breakfast during a road trip to the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery. While the aroma in your restaurant was enticing, we were unfortunately very disappointed with our meal.

We both ordered the Grizz breakfast. I requested over-easy eggs, but they arrived sunny-side up with runny whites, and the bacon was overcooked. The hash browns were also undercooked and lacked flavor. My mother’s experience was even worse; her eggs appeared watery, her bacon was burnt, and her pancakes were raw in the middle. Although she asked for the pancakes to be cooked longer, the new batch was still raw. Neither of us finished our food.

It seemed as though the food was cooked on high heat, resulting in everything being undercooked. We chose not to send our food back, as we were unsure of the condition in which it would be returned.

Given our experience, I would not recommend this place to others.

Sincerely,
Sad fatboy.

Service was phenomenal, as was the food. No wait to be seated, the food came quickly, and the staff went above and beyond to assist us. The supervisor, I believe his name was Jose M., was very attentive and helpful in the payment processes. This is a frequent stop when I’m in town and I’d most definitely recommend this location.

This is a nice spot to stop for any meal and has a lot of parking, which is a big plus. We had a late breakfast here and it was good. The eggs benedict was my favorite of everything we tried. The homestyle potatoes were great too, they had good seasoning and veggies with them. The strip potatoes were very plain and didn’t taste like they had any seasoning at all.

Very nice inside and decent food. Eggs Benedict tasted good along with the home fries and hollandaise sauce. The food was warm not hot. The service was good minus a little wait at the door.

Great family friendly restaurant with American fare.

We stopped here on our way into Monterey. It wasn’t busy at all on a Sunday afternoon. Food was reasonably priced and the service was was great.

The whole place was really clean and so was the bathroom.

First time ever even seeing a Black Bear Diner. If you or your little one likes bears, this place is amazing, I love the bear decor. Food is genuinely so delicious, and if you like spicy, try their Papa Bear hot sauce! It was so good, we bought a bottle. Our server was very nice and friendly, took care of us well. I had 2 pancakes, sunny side up eggs, bacon, and country potatoes along with some of that delicious hot sauce and everything was so delicious, no complaints. The pancakes are incredible. Paired with a vanilla cold brew which was also delicious, not as sweet as most vanilla cold brews are. My partner got the sourdough burger with french fries and everything was delicious as well. My only very minor dislike was the water here. It has this kind of flavor that the water fountains at parks have, but if you’re into that, that should be no problem! Overall, amazing place and we will be going to all different Black Bear Diners in the future!
