This is a traditional American fine-dining restaurant. The food is excellent. You can feel the dynamic American spirit. The service is excellent. Located in an affluent neighborhood, the clientele is also very sophisticated. This is a restaurant that caters to that discerning clientele. You can be one of them.

I came here yesterday with my mom and sister before going to see a show at Lincoln Center. We were worried about finding a place to eat- since we had no reservation. But we walked past- and thought we’d try it out.
And I am so glad that we did! We were able to be seated right away. Our waitress (I think her name is Lisa) was fantastic.
I ordered the French toast, and my mom and sister both ordered burgers.
All three of us ate every bite of the meal. My French toast was so good. The Carmel drizzle was perfection.
My mom’s burger was cooked perfectly, and she said that it was really good.

We were so full- that we weren’t hungry for dinner.

We will definitely come back when in the city!

This is a classic tavern located right by the Lincoln Center. So we were able to catch a show at the Met right after a delicious meal including fish and chips (like the red vinegar dip) fresh oysters and mussels, signature 1884 burger, buttery soft pretzel bites, warm and inviting bread pudding, rich espresso martini, and a bottle of Pino Noir! It was hard to stay awake during the show This meal was served by a wonderful attentive waiter and his name is “Prince”!

We were here for ballet. Our server was without any energy and love for her work. Food and ambience in general were okay, but this location is more for traffic, not for quality.

Where do I begin? I had a reservation by myself. Wasn’t crowded. I was seated right away. I had come to this place 9 months ago, so I figured I’d come again. I had a nice experience before. I was given a menu and then the waitress took literally 17 minutes to come back. I would have flagged her down but she never came back over to my area even once so I would have had to search the restaurant. I’m not doing that. Then as soon as I was going to say something, she came back. I got the chicken soup. This chicken soup looked honestly like if I waited any length of time without touching it, she’d think I ate it already and what’s left is just what I left behind. Take a look at the photo. It’s not even filled halfway to the middle of the bowl. For $17 you should have full bowl of soup. It was literally 6 sips of soup and the entire thing was finished. Less than 5 minutes. Then they brought my steak frites. I asked for medium. When I started to cut it, I realized it’s rare. I couldn’t even cut one bite. For the first time ever (I’ll be 50 next year and have been out hundreds of times to restaurants in Manhattan), I asked them to take it back. The maitre D was wonderful, he made sure I got a brand new steak. I did and the frites and the steak was wonderful. I still had a nice time. And what little there was of the soup was tasty. The steak was very steakhouse quality level flavor. The gentleman across from me also said his steak was too rare and he actually asked for rare. I just am posting so maybe they’d be more aware of this temperature issue. It was mid afternoon on Christmas Eve 2025. I love you guys and hope to come back again.

Restaurant has an old school charm to it. Picnic red table clothes, red booths with Americana style food. There are plenty of options for family style sharing and for the kids. There are wooden high chairs available if needed. They have upstairs and also downstairs dining. Recommend making resos on the weekend as it does get very busy. Located just across the street from Lincoln Center, expect long waits as it’s a popular place for those grabbing a bite before a show.

They provided crayons and activity sheet for our toddler. They also have kids cups (plastic cup either straw). Very kid-friendly. Changing table is located upstairs by the check-in desk.

Food was pretty decent for a chain restaurant. We got the fish and chips and also the lobster roll. Lobster roll probably needs a bit more flavor. It felt like they forgot to salt the lobster. Fish was fried well and crispy. You need to ask for ketchup as they don’t generally provide it with the dish. We had to wait awhile for food as we arrived during peak lunch hours. Waitress was curt and didn’t feel too friendly. She wasn’t too happy to exchange our water when our toddler stuck his crayon in the cup. Didn’t come back to top off water.

Was going to a show at the Lincoln center and this restaurant was right across the street so we decided to check it out on a recommendation from a friend. I’m so glad I did because everything about this place was phenomenal!!! I made a reservation online and we were seated as soon as we walked in the door. Our waitress came over immediately. Brought us water told us about the menu and that they were known for their burgers. So obviously that’s what we had to try! It was absolutely cooked too perfection and the fries are shoestring fries and we’re absolutely delicious. We started with a couple of cocktails and I was obsessed with the little old school red and white tablecloths they had as well. Every single person we encountered on this staff was friendly and helpful and wonderful. I cannot recommend this place enough. Prices were very average for New York but the atmosphere puts this place over the top!!! I will definitely go back!

Lunch before a matinee at Lincoln Center and the staff could have been more accommodating. Not cheap, but food/drinks were high end. Group of four, had burgers, cheese steak spring rolls, pretzel bites, Bloody Marys, and some ciders. Place was quiet when we were seated and quickly filled up, but we were never pressured to “turn over” table, while we waited for people stuck in traffic.

We were greeted by the host with a smile on her face and brought us to our table. Not too long after we were also greeted by our waiter, who provided us with the menu and gave us a little time before coming back to take out order. Once our waiter had returned to take out order, the look on his face seemed displeased and didn’t want to care much. The look on his face gave me the impression of “hurry up and order.” Every waiter that brought us either our drinks or food were super polite and kind. We ordered almost $200 worth of food plus drinks and it was just my wife and I. As I was observing our waiter going around his other tables, he was making small talks, laughing, making jokes however, when he returned back to my table, he had an angry look on his face as if he didn’t want to serve us. I am not sure if he had anything against Asians, but all the people who were dinning were definitely not Asian race. I had told our waiter to tone it down with his attitude, and he even apologized. Given that, it means he was giving us an attitude throughout the entire dinner service.
