This place still has it, hasn’t changed much since my family used to go here on the regular back in the 1980s. The food is consistent and the staff is amazingly attentive and friendly. There’s so much history on these walls, definitely worth taking a peek around and see some of the amazing legacy and famous patrons that have visited. I’m a big fan of the patio seating, there’s always a good crowd. A couple of old fuddy duds, old friends hanging out, or families having a relaxing meal together, no matter where you sit, you will have a memorable time.

Really good Mexican food, and definitely on my lists of favorites in the Phoenix area. I prefer this style over TexMex hands down. I went there twice on my recent visit to Scottsdale and will be back next time i’m in town for sure. Both meals were perfectly prepared and the right amount of spicy. The chips and salsa were equally great. My only issue on both visits was that service was rather slow. It was hard to get the attention of anyone to get refills of chips/salsa or tea. Other than that, no complaints at all. I think when the weather is warmer it would great to hang on their patio and have margaritas as well.

Man I’m so on the fence here. It’s been around for decades, busy lunch spot, great outside area with misters and all, but the service was awful. Walking in there was a sign stating wait to be seated. We waited and waited when someone finally came to seat us. Our server took some time as well. The menu isn’t huge, but has some really great options. I opted for the two it combo and was so excited to see a shrimp taco option. They doesn’t happen often on the combo items. I added a chicken enchilada with green sauce as well. My other family member ordered three items but with agreed beef. Chips and salsa came and the salsa was awesome. It had a great kick to it. Chops were ok, but I’ve had better. Our food came pretty quick. The shrimp taco was such a let down. No flavor, no toppings besides some grilled onion I’m guessing …it was so charred who knows. The only taste i could find was the smoke of the grill. No sauce nothing, bummer. My enchilada was great. It had good sauce and lots of chicken. Other food ordered with hard shell was soggy at pick up. Flavor was decent there. We sat our entire meal with no refills or check in. If in the area I’d maybe stop again to try some other items, but definitely not drive as far as we did this time just to try them out.

What a fun spot! I’ve been driving by for years and finally decided to stop in with a friend. We loved it!
I had the Taco Combo Plate with Carne Asada and Beef. I got both of them with a corn tortilla which was great. Both tacos were big too! Very filling meal.
My friend got the half order of nachos. We thought he ordered a full when it first came out because it was so big! Know that the half order of nachos is probably enough for one person.
The atmosphere is great as well. We love local spots like this and wish we had stopped in sooner.
Overall, hard to go wrong here it seems. We will be back!

We came for a second visit. It has vintage look, like in the 1980s. Margaritas were outstanding. The guac, fish tacos and burritos were excellent. Portion is big too. It is not a fancy looking place but this is now our goto Mexican restaurant!

I came hungry.
I left hungry and disappointed.
The hostess was great. The bathroom was clean.
The waiter was nice until we refused to order alcohol with lunch. He became flatly rude and we lost our appetite.
We drove AN HOUR for our waiter to feel like we were a waste of time because we prefer lunch without a DUI. Sad.

Arrived around 3pm.
Waited in the hostess area to be seat for 20 min. Still No employee check the hostess area.
However, if u wanted the bar area. The staff was more than willing to serve you. Meanwhile, the manager finally decided to check the hostess area. He blames the staff for not turning the sign around which states wait to be seated.
Finally, seated and placed order. The delivery time of food was excellent but quality of the food was average.
The only thing that was interesting or over the top was the wall of memorabilia.
However, maybe this day was a fluke. Therefore, I plan to visit again hoping for better results.

Everything was cooked very well except for the pork because it was dry. They tried to cover it up with green sauce(it was a tamale). All food was lightly seasoned.
The I really enjoyed the cheese crisps. Adding the complimentary salsa on top was delicious.
The messed up on my wife’s Crunchy carne asada taco with no pico de gallo. (1. they gave her a soft one and brought a hard taco shell for her to transfer the taco into the shell afterthe mix up, 2. She order another la cart and the brought one with pico de gallo. 3. The made the correct one).
The fajita Nachos was tortilla chips, cheese, onion, and a little pico. I was really disappointed I was expecting fajita ingredients sprinkled on top of Nachos(layer of refried beans, tortilla chips, meat of choice, cheese, and sour cream).

This was a place noted on one of Andrew Zimmern’s shows. What a delight. This is authentic Mexican food. Arrived about an hour before closing. Got amazing service! The best Mexican food I have had in my entire life and it was very reasonable. Will definitely visit again during my next trip to Arizona! We had the chicken burro and the combo fajita (the tortillas tasted and looked home made). And the margarita completed the meal. Absolutely delicious and a must try.

Tried this restaurant today. Will never go again. Taco shells tasted like they came out of a box sold at grocery stores. Tacos literally fell apart and the ground beef tacos had absolutely no flavor to them. Spanish rice tasted awful and was brown in color and beans were tasteless too. Only thing I liked was the salsa they served with the chips. Waste of money.
