Been to El Jalicience many times,have taken my family and friends when they come and visit.but lately restaurant has been slacking off in food. Invited a friend and his wifethwo weeks ago beans and rice were served cold. You could tell they just put it back in the microwave when we told waiter.I decided to give it an another try on my day off. Asked for “tripas and they were not made properly asked waiter to notify cook. They brought me another plate but this time with literally cold “cebolla asada.not room temperature it was cold like out of the fridge. Asked to talked to manager she was upset because I didn’t asked the waiter as a “please” form. Asked to talked to manager since I felt embarrassed to bother waiter since it’s not her fault I understand she only brings what she is given from the kitchen. But manager did not bother to come and talk to me after she was notified.
It was around 12pm. Restaurant was not packed and I waited about 40 more minutes for then to bring me another plateso I was as patient as possible. I did asked “can you feel the temperature on this onions” she basically told me since I had not asked please” I was being disrespectful. I told her that should not be a reason or excuse to bring me cold food I asked for the tab willing to pay for the food and I would stop by in the afternoon to talk to owner Her reply was “ok my husband will be here”. I been on and off in Texas city for the past 4 year supporting el jalicience and recommending it to a lot of people for drinks but for this experience I rather go somewhere else. I wish them good and hope they talk to their cooks and for management to not feel entitled to serve cold food as retaliation.

This place is good at best. I came in with my sister around 9:30 and the bar music is at a nice pace with music. They guy that manages it talks too much tho. Another thing the sever we go was like a ghost there when not needed but when needed she took a while. But didn’t ruin anything. I managed to get some pictures of the menu. This place is good for a restaurant at late night. Definitely recommend coming here.

Taqueria El Jaliciense always has excellent food and excellent service. The food comes out quickly with no issues. They always have the orders right. I’ve been eating at this restaurant for over 25yrs and will still be eating there 25yrs from now. They will always have a recommendation from me no matter where I’m at in the world.

I love the ENTIRE menu, authentic tex mex, great tasting, large portions, worth every penny!!! very clean, great servers ALWAYS SMILE, GREAT lunch specials LOVE IT!!! had breakfast today 5-28, it was SOOO GOOD, THEY EXTENDED TO 12NOON..LOVED, WAS FRESH TASTING NO GREASE TASTE, STAFF VERY ATTENTIVE, GREAT PRICES!! Overall just ok, wasn’t really impressed with the food. The queso was just microwaved behind the counter and didn’t taste so fresh. I got the Jalisco burrito with Carne asada, and all I tasted was the gravy they put on the top, the meat had no flavor. The horchata was ok, would be better if it were homemade.

The only reason why I had a good time was because the real owner showed up( last minute)but the service before his arrival was awful. Things do not run smooth if he is not present .It is very unfortunate.
The servers are not great listeners and they have no idea what they are doing. I wanted to run the first ten minutes of us being there. The vibe there was tense which made my family be in a bad mood.
As soon as The Don walked in, our mood changed to happiness. He greeted us and brought us what we needed. The owners goes above and beyond to make it right. He keeps the employees in line and moving.

Not good today! The food was dried out and tasted like it was old with the dinner plate, so I ordered an additional order of Barbacoa, tacos. You can’t go wrong there, right?
Wrong, you can clearly see in the picture the fat and grissel with crumbles of meat here and there but not enough to call it edible.
I was so exhausted that I just got up and left!
