It’s what you want in a true American cheeseburger: simple, classic and well executed. Skip In & Out and give Bills Burger a try. You won’t regret it.

First of all, the menu on Google is not updated to real prices. Check the photos for updated prices.

That being said it was genuinely tasty that I sent my boyfriend back to make the same order again because it was perfect and we wanted more lol.

While it says “don’t make to order” the guy was nice enough to ask if we wanted everything on it or not. He was very accommodating and marked no onion for me (I have IBS but didn’t need to reason my way around it. Staff was just accommodating from the get go.)

We stuck with a classic double cheeseburger. Looks unassuming in photos but the balance of texture and seasonings hit just right. If you come around 10am – 11am the wait isn’t terrible. Took 5 minutes max.

There are no tables. There is a bar you can stand at if you want but most people just took it to their cars.

I got here on Wednesday 8:30AM. it was dark and nobody was there. Assume they open later than stated time. The building looks disintegrating, but the restaurant displays inspection grade A on the window. I was almost certain that the business was closed permanently.

Then I tried other day in August, around lunch hour. Waited 10 minutes to order and 35 minutes to get a cheeseburger.

The burger was good. Maybe nostalgic to some. The thin patty was well-done and well-crusted. It’s weird to say, but it seems almost precursor of smash burger.

To me it was an hour round trip on top of the 45 minutes at the stand. I’m glad that I’ve tried, but I’m not sure if I want to come back.

I must say that I have been dying to try Bills Burgers. Their hamburgers are legendary in the valley and the burger did not disappoint. And while there was a 45 minute wait. The burger was worth it. It was cooked to a perfect temp. The flavors were incredible. It is so clear to me why for the past 60 years, there is always a line. And, why they are likely to run out before the customers stop coming.

Look.. there’s meh, good, damn good, and just wow. Bills is in the middle between damn good and just wow.

The food is just absolutely amazing. The burgers have this flavor you can’t find anywhere else.

Yes you have to wait a bit because the burgers are made from scratch, but it makes it that much better.

Easily one of the best burgers in Southern California

2x Double Cheeseburger / 5⭐!

Bill’s Hamburgers in Van Nuys has been open since 1965 on a quiet, industrial-leaning part of Oxnard where they serve American classics, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, breakfast items and chili. It’s a cash-only business so make sure you bring some cash with you.

Bill’s is one of those kinds of local spots where the ‘ones in the know’ will rave about and for good reason. They have a decent sized menu but I had heard many times over the years that their burgers are the way to go. While I was waiting for my order, I heard regulars ordering other items so it is safe to assume there is more to love than their hamburgers. I’d like to go back and try their breakfast sandwiches.

The burgers I had were delicious. There is an art in perfecting a menu and Bill’s has achieved just such a perfection with his sixty years in business! The burgers were very well cooked, well seasoned, had nice crispy edges, and were extremely tasty.

The prices are still quite affordable. The service was quick and efficient for my visit. I would recommend you find street parking. The burger shack has a large parking lot next door but there are multiple signs warning Bill’s guests from using the parking.

I also loved how cozy and personal the setting felt. While they don’t have seating, they do have some bar counters outside. I took my burgers to my car. I loved the ramshackle shack look of their restaurant and the no-frills, effortlessly tasty food on their menu.

I recognize that Bill is set to retire or maybe he already has. But his legacy and his classic American menu will live on as long as there are people who care about quality food at good prices. They are worth the visit!

Simply delicious. Much love goes into these burgers, indeed. Be prepared to wait a minute for your food, pay cash, and park on the street (the parking lot belongs to another business)… But WELL WORTH IT. The owner is hard-working and always friendly. I think the secret is in the bread, but can’t quite narrow it down to one thing. One of the best burger-stand burgers you’ll ever experience.

The words classic, vintage, old school and no frills come to mind when describing Bills Burgers!

Probably one of the most consistent burger stands in California. Having grace this small stand for a decade, I can say this is one of my favorite burger joints.

This family business starts with Bill, who is currently retired but is seen around the stand premise. I recently had a pleasant conversation with this legend. Bill told me his back story and how he has been grilling burgers at this location for 35 years. Can you imagine all that seasoning on that grill throughout the decades. Bill is now 97 and I was honored to listen to him while I waited for my order. His wife (sorry I don’t know her name) and her son Douglas have taken reigns and they haven’t missed a beat. The legacy continues!

Cash only, no phone call orders, there is a breakfast and lunch rush. No fries , only chips and cans of soda. May sell out before 3. No place to sit.

I absolutely love this place. My go to is the triple cheese with bacon and a side of lay chips. The patties are thin and seasoned well, with gooey American cheese, a nice soft bun with veggies and homemade sauce. The bacon is legit. You will get burger juice all over yourself as you bite into this heavenly sandwich.

I will keep coming here til they close. Thankful for Bill and his family. Great business to support.

It’s what you want from a burger. Patty has a great sear, the pickles are delicious and the mayo on both buns gives the burgers a butteriness. It’s a valley institution for a reason and definitely worth the drive if you haven’t tried it before.
