This place is a true Cville staple and a big part of what makes UVA feel like UVA, which is why it’s getting four stars instead of three. It’s kind of funny to think about the fact that I ate at the very same table that my friends and I have stood on during a Friday night out. Regardless, the food was solid.

The real highlight—truly excellent—was the mac and cheese!! It was perfectly creamy, and using pepper jack cheese was such a great choice.

Stick to the bar food or burgers. Do not order an entree or “signature” plate. Very sad. Worst plate I ever saw— crab cakes. It looked like shoe fly pie and taste was not far from that. We’ve had hundreds.. from Maryland and know these are “Virginia” but not even a real meal. This is closer to a prison loaf. Bourbon Chicken also should be removed from the menu. Cobb salad was great, how can you screw that up? Great service and vibe.

Still very reminiscent of a bar and restaurant founded in the early 1900’s. The atmosphere was very good. Has an upper and lower level. The food is amazing! Great choices. Our food came out hot, fast, and correct. Service at first was very good. It tapered off after our food was served. There are a few TV’s, but not considered a sports bar. Price was reasonable at about $30 a person. We did not partake in any drink specials. Dinner menu starts at 5PM.

Gameday traffic doesn’t slow this place down. Friendly and quick service when it was packed. Grabbed a quesadilla and a Happy Dad. Julia was great behind the bar

Excellent food large portions ! We had the baby back ribs , steak and cheese sub, chicken tenders for our son , potato soup was amazing, along with the mashed potatoes and gravy and salad as our sides . We will be back very soon! I raced about the food to our server ! 20/10!!!

Service is very slow so be sure you have enough time before dining here. But the little outdoor seating is very nice on a sunny day and I really like the food. Prices are good!

We visited on a Monday night around 6:30pm. We were sat almost immediately and given prompt drink service. Our food arrived pretty swiftly after as well. The food was great, and the portions were generous.

My only demerit for the service was that after we paid our check, our waitress never returned with the box I had requested. We waited for several minutes, and eventually I grabbed my own box.

Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant! We visited about a month ago after spending the day at Carter’s Mountain, and the food was absolutely incredible. We aren’t from the area, and we accidentally left my son’s favorite water bottle behind. The staff went above and beyond to help us get it back, and they were so kind throughout the process. Amazing food, wonderful people, and an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home! Highly recommend.

My wife and I had the best club sandwich we’ve ever had and the French fries were also excellent. The portion size was very generous. Our server Lilly did and outstanding job taking care of us.

Food was okay to very good. Waitress was friendly and attentive. The ribeye was market price at $20 the night we went and was okay. The mashed potatoes were very good. The Chicken Philly was good. The fries are seasoned, including the ones on the kids menu. Kids menu tenders came with three tenders. The regular order had four.

This is a historic restaurant. Cleanliness of the restroom was sub par. Large parties over 6 will most likely have to split up amongst tables.
