10/10 experience!
We tried this spot for Restaurant Week and everything was so delicious. The burnt ends and brisket were super flavorful, and the hushpuppies and mac & cheese were perfect comfort sides
The chicken taquitos were surprisingly good too. I wasn’t expecting much as an appetizer, but wow, they really impressed me. My friends also ordered the chicken as a protein and said it was really good.
And the apple pie bread pudding? Absolutely amazing.
Highly recommend this spot, especially for Restaurant Week. The 3-course meal was $40 and totally worth it!
btw I’m obsessed with their pickles – wonder if u can just buy some

Midwood Smokehouse has the best hush puppies that I have ever had. However, I was disappointed in the 1930 Brisket Cheesesteak. The cheesesteak had too much cheese and the brisket absent sauce was tasteless. The macaroni and cheese was good but basic. My wife ordered the pork plate and it was good. The Smokey flavor really comes through and it was further enhanced by adding the Carolina sauce. Baked beans were tasty and the coleslaw had a distinct and unique taste that was better than most. The food came out quickly and was and fresh. Overall, the restaurant was clean and the ambiance was great. 7/10.

I drive by this place all the time, but on this day I decided to just give it a try. Parking is annoying, but it’s downtown, so of course it is. I ate by myself, and the service team was awesome trying to accommodate me and get food out to me quickly. I asked for two modifications on my food, no jalapenos in my guac (I have the palate of a newborn baby, so I can’t handle much spice) and no pickles for my entree as they all come with them. The manager told me he can take the fresh jalapenos out of the guac, but that there was also jalapenos in the pico de gallo that was also included and I said that was fine. It tasted great. Sadly, on the entree they forgot and left their pickles on my plate which irks me cause I hate pickles and the pickle juice spreads everywhere on the plate and gets into everything. Did I still eat the sweet potato fries and burnt ends that were soaked in the pickle juice? Yes, cause it was only a few, so it wasn’t enough for me to feel like causing an issue. I took the pickles off the plate quickly and dabbed at the juice on the plate with a napkin to soak up the juice asap as soon as I saw them on there, so the damage was minimal. However, I imagine if you like pickles, these are probably very good cause they didn’t reek of vinegar and they looked really different from any other pickle presentations I have seen before. I included a photo of them so you can see what I’m talking about.
Even with the pickle mishap, the waitress was super awesome and helpful. She also gave me a card for a free banana pudding at the end of the meal, which I will definitely be using when I come back.
The burnt ends and sweet potato fries were so good! I originally told myself I would eat half and then save half for a to-go box for my lunch the next day, but they were so good that they didn’t make it sadly. I was so full, but it was so worth it. I also got a mimosa which was good, but standard. I also idiotically splurged and got the pecan pie a la mode, which was so decadent and worth it, but man was I so stuffed. It should definitely have been shared by two or more people. I did get a box for that.
It’s interesting cause it seemed like it was trying to have a sports vibe, but it was more upscale than just a bbq joint to watch the game. I don’t know what vibe they are going for, but its like they want both vibes. If it were me, I would just pick one and stick to it, but what do I know ♀️
Overall, this would be a really nice date night place. I will be coming back to with my husband and friends.

Great BBQ – step up from other places we’ve tried locally. Great meeting the manager Chris and special shout out to our awesome server JT who knew the menu inside out and had great suggestions. When we weren’t sure about a side, he just brought out a sample. Food was excellent. Hush puppies were hot, huge and addictive. Wings were excellent. Nice Smokey pork. Dessert was warm and gooey. 🙂

Great customer service – they handmade guac beside our table – it was sooo good! Also their ribs are fantastic! The chicken is ok and the jalepeno poppers are not the best. Banana pudding is good!

I’ve been here twice now. First time was great. Second time was also great. The food was delicious and juicy. Very flavorful. The atmosphere is nice and inviting. My wife and I ordered a sharable plate, but I also wanted to order Birriabecue Tacos. Unfortunately for me they only had it in pork. I asked to have it in beef, but the waitress said they couldn’t change it. As a patron, I understand if things can’t be substituted so no hard feelings. However, the owner “Bud” I believe was his name came over to apologize for that an offered us a banana pudding on the house. That was not necessary at all, but I really appreciated the gesture. That shows true customer service and respect for their patrons. We will return. Also, as a side note…A place in Apex called “Dampf Good BBQ” is supposed to be a first-place winner in all these competitions they enter monthly, but Midwood was much better.

The food was very good. I had a lot of pork this week so I got pulled chicken last night. Sauces were tasty. The Apple Bread Pudding was absolutely delicious. I accepted this as my best birthday cake ever!!!
Service was excellent! Daniel and Buddy, and another manager

Great all around no complaints at all except maybe they cooked my burger a little too long. Probably because they forgot to ask how I wanted it and didnt realize till it came. Great service though and friendly staff. Decent beer selection on draft. We got the cornbread skillet which was fantastic if you like a sweet cornbread although I thought the portion was small for the nearly $15 price point. The ribs were pretty good and their sauces were also very tasty. Nice hush puppies. Will be trying it again, next time for the brisket.

I contemplated whether or not to write this review, and decided to, because spending $50 for food I had no choice but to toss in the garbage angered me enough to do so. I was in town for a couple days and found this place on Google. What a huge mistake. I ordered the 4 proteins meal with Mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. The food was awful, just by sight. I regret not opening the pan and looking at what I was served before leaving the restaurant. The ribs were extremely dry and hard, indicating they were either overcooked or reheated too many times. The half chicken was recommended by the lady that took my order and was also dry and had a very strong raw chicken odor. This was a very bad experience to say the least. I do not recommend eating here, but if you do, check your food before leaving. On another note, the lady that took the order was very nice.

Food in this place is very good! Been here a couple of times because of the pulled pork and hushpuppy… but today was not a good day for the kitchen. Pulled pork was really salty, very very a salty, and the hushpuppies are burned outside and freezing inside. I was very disappointed about this. Hopefully doing better because you are one of the best places to eat around this area.
