The place is spotless. I mean, really clean. You could eat off the counter, though there’s no reason to when your plate’s already piled high with everything you came for. The staff are the kind of people who actually seem happy to see you—a rarity in this world of dead-eyed “service smiles.”
My cousin and I both went for the Falafel Combo. Three vegetarian choices—each one an edible postcard from the Levant—served over salad, rice, or both if you’re feeling ambitious. Add a little meat if you must, but honestly, the falafel here doesn’t need backup. Crunchy outside, soft and fragrant inside, the kind of thing that makes you close your eyes for a second.
Tahineh sauce slicks across the plate, a little nutty, a little tangy, perfectly imperfect. The pita’s warm, like it actually remembers what bread is supposed to be.
Mamoun’s doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel—it just spins it perfectly. A four-star stop for anyone who believes good food doesn’t need to be reinvented, just respected.
They were freshly prepared , super hot and crispy. What’s not to like?
The cafe was practically empty at the time of my visit, so no waiting on queues.
The service was friendly and quick.
Nothing to complain about.
I’d definitely come back and try one of their bowls next time.
Thank you.
I’ve always been a fan of Mamoun’s and absolutely love their North Brunswick location, so I was excited to try their Jersey City outlet while visiting Hoboken. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to expectations.
The location is great, but parking around the area is definitely a challenge. On the plus side, the place has ample seating and wasn’t too crowded when we visited. Service was quick and efficient, which I appreciated.
Food-wise, it was a mixed bag. The chips with hummus were solid and enjoyable, and the baklava at the end was a real treat – fresh and flavorful. However, the chicken kebob was a big letdown – soggy, lacking flavor, and just not appetizing. The falafel sandwich, which is usually a standout, was just average here.
Overall, it was an okay experience – not terrible, but definitely didn’t match the quality I’ve had at other Mamoun’s locations.
We ordered falafel along with some baklava and chips. Even with my small appetite, everything was so delicious that we finished it all. The baklava was particularly impressive; I’ve tried it at many places, but this was the first time I had such a clean, sweet version without any off-flavors.
I can see why it’s popular with families. If I’m in the area again, I’ll definitely stop by!
Quick service.
We all ordered the chicken platter equating to about $60. After we finished our meals, we all felt extremely ill. I mentioned to the cashier that I needed a bag to go as I felt ill from the food. She could care less did not provide any commentary and just gave me the paper bag. I landed up throwing up from the food served here.
This location should go through a good quality check as clearly we all had food poisoning symptoms momentarily after consuming the food.
Waste of money. Don’t recommend unless you want to try your odds and see whether or not your immune system is strong enough to not get sick off there food.
