We decided to try the crab stuffed mushrooms for our appetizer, and a glass of their Caymus wine. This was a perfect combination to start off our meal. The mushrooms were piping hot and cooked just right.
For dinner, I decided to try the chef’s special, crab stuffed shrimp, while my husband settled on the prime rib. My crab was perfectly seasoned while the shrimp was cooked to perfection, not rubbery. The side of winter squash was the decision of the chef’s while my decision of garlic mashed potatoes rounded out my plate just right. Our dinner was unforgettable! I know my husband felt the same about his meal because when I looked over, he was chewing with his eyes closed in perfect bliss, savoring every bite of his prime rib.
Even though we were pleasantly full, we decided on a piece of their chocolate cake to take with us. But we HAD to try it before we left with another shared glass of wine. Another perfect combo.
Covered in chocolate ganache, this cake was delicious! Half of it is in the refrigerator waiting now for my coffee to brew! (Another good combo!)
Our server’s recommendations and timing were superb. Her attention to us was enough for our needs, but never interrupting our conversation.
Thank you Fargo’s, for an evening to remember. We WILL be back!!
But most of all, we had a wonderful chat with a kind waiter who sweetly offered us a delicious cake for our honeymoon.
Your thoughtfulness truly touched us.
We’ll be happy to come back your way again ! Thank you so much for your warm hospitality!
Sending lots of love from France!
TLDR: Everyone at the table felt their $ was wasted tonight, and that we should’ve just gone to the store, or even Culver’s, for 1/3 the price and 3X the flavor. We would’ve had a much better time.
*Garlic Mashed Potatoes ~> Instant Mash?
This blob was so bizarrely thick, that it held its form PERFECTLY when manipulated by a fork. Flavorless, and resembled cement.
*Fresh Vegetables ~> Water Flavor? Mm.
Equivalent to canned corn and frozen broccoli, with no seasoning. Awful.
*Fries: Shoestring & Steak ~> Bland.
No salt, no seasoning… nothing! The plainest potato form that you will ever taste. Thank God for ketchup.
Our first red flag should’ve been the table behind us having to ask for A1 sauce. A good steak doesn’t need sauce — The flavor of the cook should be enough. They went through the same song and dance as us, trying to find something on the table worth enjoying by asking for something else, requesting sauces, etc. Our first server was a very kind and happy person, but the second was definitely dead inside.
The only GOOD part of the dinner’s entirety was the freshly baked bread, and the soups/salads. That is SAD, coming from a steakhouse.
This was the biggest disappointment from a restaurant that we’ve ever encountered, and it was for our friend Juan’s birthday! He threw his leftovers in the garbage on the way out. What a waste of money.
We definitely should have skipped this spot, and we don’t understand how it has such a high rating. We can undoubtedly cook better than this, any night of the week, at home. Not a care in the world from Fargo’s either, about how awful of an experience the three of us had.
***At least the dog liked the steak. Then again, she’ll catch anything, if it’s tossed to her.
RUN: They WILL rob your wallet, for a TERRIBLE meal! This “Steakhouse” is a running joke, to this day, amongst our traveling Fishing Trio. Fargo’s Steakhouse will forever be burned into my memory, as the WORST Dine-In meal that I’ve ever had. We’ll be cooking store-bought cuts on charcoal, next door at the hotel from now on. Stop by sometime, when we’re in town — You might learn how to cook a steak! (:
